Why bourgeois democracy is a dictatorship of the rich

  • We’re told we live in a democracy, but whether we vote for Starmer or Sunak, we’re going to get pretty much the same thing. What’s democratic about that?
We’re told we have rights like freedom of speech and a free press, but the government is banning protests and the newspapers are all owned by billionaires. What’s the point of these “rights” if they don’t actually mean anything?
The fact is that the world is run by and for the rich. They decide everything and the rest of us don’t get a say. That isn’t democracy, that’s a dictatorship.
In this episode of Marxist Voice, Ben Gliniecki proves that what we live in today isn’t a real democracy. Instead, he will give a vision of what a real, socialist, democracy would look like, along with how communists can best fight for it.

Just as the Holy Roman Empire was neither Holy, Roman, nor an Empire (Voltaire) so it is that the Liberal Democracies of today are neither liberal, much preferring arbitrary repression to liberal freedoms, nor democracies, since policy is made in direct opposition to the desires and belief of the majority of their populations.

Historically it was Canaan with Philistines and Phoenicians being leagues of city states in the lowlands and Israel and Judah being highland kingdoms and then Edom, Moab, Ammon, being inland kingdoms. Eventually Assyria replaced Egypt as the dominant power and they started speaking Aramaic, the language named for the Syrian kingdom based in Damascus. This continued through Persian, Greek, and Roman rule. Then later the Arabs drive out the Romans and gradually the Aramaic speakers mostly switched to Levantine Arabic as a prestige language and for trade with other places that similarly adopted Arabic dialects. This is why Palestinians have often been called Syrians or Arabs. They are a distinct part of a broader cultural area. It's like calling a Scottish person British. They can in fact hold multiple identities at the same time.

Defunding the police made it onto a ballot thanks to city council and a lot of organizing, but was ultimately defeated. The law and order lobby remains strong especially outside the city there's a lot of pressure, and I'm pretty sure the policing budget has increased. I think you should consider the American tea party as a possible model for Communist politics.
The analysis presented here, focused on control of the government is one side of the power argument. The other side is funding.
The workers nearly 100% fund the US Federal government, and simultaneously have been run out of the government and politically persecuted.
    It's clearly taxation without representation!
This connects to an older strain of democratic politics. The strategies here may seem more primitive than top down governance, but they're easy to communicate, popular, and have solid political economy theory behind them.
Organization around income taxes is the political bludgeon that can bring down this global financial autocracy.
The state of these governments, especially regarding taxation, debt, and worker representation, is appalling.
This cannot stand! It's the people funding the operation that are going to bring it to its knees.
We need left wing expression of these politics. They should be led by the left. Clearly the right has its own intentions here.

The ideas of Marxism are a political fringe, the majority of the American working class don't know what it is, much less identify with it politically. But regardless it's these ideas and these ideas alone in the masses hands that can provide clarity and a roadmap to victory. The ONLY way that these ideas can ever take root in the working class and it's movement is if Marxists fight alongside the working class and provide that perspective by connecting it concretely to the real situation that people are living in today WITHOUT watering it down for contemporary prejudices. This process is going to take time, energy, and sacrifice. It will not work right away. cant be better said. It was said in the 19th century. After II world wars and countless regional wars, it cant be said now. The capitalists managed to crush the working class, which is now in its all time lowest.

Why should anyone feel lucky to be able to speak?
Free speech isan extremely basic human right, and you trying to use it as an example of the pinnacle of freedom is comically absurd and it proves the points made in this video.
Every society everywhere had free speech, mate. But they also had some other freedoms and rughts that the capitalism lacks.

but communism is a dictatorship of the apparatchiks.
little difference for those on the bottom.
Ideologies do not adapt for real world circumstances.
Economics based on ideology, left or right, do not adapt to circumstances and that is where they fail.

Furthermore a buerocratically degenerated workers state is by definition not a representation of communism..
