These phone calls just made me realize that people who live alone must be really lonely and depressed during this lockdown. I can only imagine their thought process. It must be depressing. If you're reading this hang in their. I got locked up when I was 16 yrs old and tried as an adult. They couldn't place me with adult inmates so I had to spend 11 months in the hole in a cell by myself. I used to come out of my cell into an empty unit. Sometimes I would sit on the stairs leading to the top tier and just stare at the the wall on the other side of the unit and think about life and what I would be doing if I was free. Eventually I turned 18, got sent to prison and released after serving 11yrs.4months. If you would've told me at 15 that when I turned 16 that was gonna be my life, I would've said there's no way I could do that. Our minds are way stronger than you think. Lonely people on COVID lock down, go outside an take a walk and call and text and video chat people.

Some of them are the same people that advocate for MGTOW and only having a "partner" instead of committing to a relationship long term without the option of divorce. These people are no surprise to me. Be careful what you wish for.
I live alone and I am not the least bit lonely. I'm an introvert and homebody by nature, so I'm built for this. But I completely understand and respect that not everyone is. I have many friends and relatives that I love dearly, but I cannot think of a single person that I'd want to be locked down with. We check in on each other by text, phone, and social media, and thank God everyone is healthy and well so far.
I wish to God this pandemic wasn't happening, and I am heartbroken for the sick and dying, for those who are mourning loved ones they've lost, and for those essential workers who are still out there risking their own lives to take care of us, keep us fed, and keep the power and water on. But I am enjoying this solitude. I won't lie. And who knows? When this is all over, people who had never been alone before may find it's not all that bad.
Yeah g i turned 18 in prison (where i live thats the equivalent of turning 21 in the USA) and got out 2 days before lockdown, man i feel bad for the guys that are still in there right now. They can't even see their families, it must be so fucked up for them right now.

Since covid 19 really started to take off, I’ve been on the road. 6 weeks without seeing home. 6 weeks worrying about my wife, who works in healthcare, and my step daughter. 6 weeks. I’m a truck driver and I finally get to go home in one more week.

I feel as if this is something a lot of people need to hear.
When your life was already practicing social distancing and living like in quarantine nothing has changed XD and everybody acting like it’s so difficult to not engage with people or be bored for once. It’s good for you to be bored once in a while it makes you think, plan ahead, and reevaluate your life because you have nothing else to do. These people just need to find a hobby or busywork they can do at home it is really not that hard.
Same. Being this alone for so long has desensitized me, my life is basically the same in quarantine as outside of it
When I realized that being bored is just a thought and not something actually happening to you, the shift began 👌

This is the first time in over two years since I quit drinking that a serious thought of drinking again has come to mind. But I still know I don't stand a chance if I do drink. I think if I was alone I would. Thank God I'm not.

being in a time like this where people are panic buying and acting irrationally some of us have to stay calm and not show fear, but when no one was looking I went to the back yard and cried. I have to put on a brave face to not let my family panic. Some people may not show it but they are also afraid of not knowing what will happen tomorrow.
Most of the world really is praying for you my sister and I am hoping that people take advantage of this time at home with the children and family that work was keeping people away from before this pandemic.

I never expected for all of these voicemails, (yes, including the one that was high as hell, watching Hell’s Kitchen), to show such profound thought and truly fear. I always thought that I was extremely alone in all of this, but it’s unfortunately affecting us all to some catastrophic degree. I truly hope that this will pass by quickly. And hopefully, we’ll start being kinder to each other, to say “hello” with a genuine smile as we’re walking outside in park or in a bookstore or wherever. I also hope that whoever is reading this, that you are safe and healthy.
