In order to provide a vented roof assembly Jake and Steve created a vent over roof (or a double roof). To prove it works Jake and Peter use a fog machine to visualize the air flow.
Is this a double roof deck set up with 1x3 strapping between? If so is the upper layer of roof decking cut back at the wall connection? Any additional strapping between the metal roof and the roof deck? Great stuff guys!
Would love more details! I have a 12x18 porch in Northern Wisconsin I built with a 1-1/2:12 pitch metal roof. Would like to close it in and heat with a wood burning stove. The porch is outside the building envelope so I don't need insulation to code, however, a cold roof would help prevent Ice damming. Would this work with a galvanized roof where stack effect wood be minimal....or should I look at a power vent?!?
