Fun facts about this episode: Finn is seen bathing for the first time, contradicting his statement about not bathing in "Too Young." Gingerbread Muto appears at the beginning near one of the houses at the right side when Finn and Jake are chasing the Stag. When Finn looks into the sewer the first time, the manhole reads CKPW (presumably meaning: "Candy Kingdom Public Works") and has a picture of a cupcake. The title card music for "Five Short Graybles" plays toward the end of the episode, after the Stag washes down into the sewers. This episode is often considered the scariest episode of Adventure Time by fans. Cultural references: The episode's title may be a reference to the tagline for the 1979 movie Alien, which was "In space, no one can hear you scream." Another reference to Alien is when Finn goes to the sewer and discovers that the Candy People are stuck on the walls by a kind of goo, much like what the Xenomorph do to their victims. The title card resembles the famous painting The Scream by Edvard Munch. When Finn runs away from Jake and his leg casts break is very similar to a scene from Forrest Gump where Forrest loses the braces on his legs as a kid. In Jake's tent is a picture of him and Finn that somewhat resembles characters drawn by artist Keith Haring. Finn waking up after a medical procedure only to find the Candy Kingdom empty and abandoned is similar to what happens to Cillian Murphy's character at the beginning of the movie 28 Days Later. The lettering on the title cards is similar to that of Saul Bass's work, better-known for making the title sequences and poster for many Alfred Hitchcock films. In Jake's tent there is a comic book called, "Man Man," which closely resembles the Batman comics. Continuing with the horror references, the fact that Stag's lair is down in the sewer (where he meets his demise), the imagery of the balloons Jake wears, and the haunting snippets of carnival music that play may be references to the story It by Stephen King. Storyline analysis: Finn would have died if left in a coma unattended for more than a few days. However, there is a theory that each citizen in the Candy Kingdom was kidnapped one by one by the Stag within the 6 months time span-meaning that for every Candy Person that was kidnapped, there was still one to take care of Finn while he was in a coma, until the Stag kidnapped them. This could mean that Finn recovered shortly after the last Candy Person who took care of him (as well as the last one to go missing) was kidnapped by the Stag. Jake says that Finn had been in a coma for six months. However, Jake's head injury may have made him say a falsehood. This is supported by the fact that Finn says his legs are "still broken," despite him being shown to have extraordinary healing rates in other episodes. After six months, even a normal person's legs would be healed, but would have atrophied. However, it's also possible that his remark about his legs still being "broken" was a joke, considering he was laughing after saying so and Jake laughed with him. Errors: When the comic Jake kept in the box is first seen, it says "Manly Man," but it says "Man Man" in its second appearance. Finn shouldn't have taken a shower in the fountain while in his cast, because casts aren't allowed to get wet. All the beds in the hospital have a sign to write names on at first, but the one with Finn's name and others disappear during Finn's stay. When Finn punches Jake, he lands next to a wrench and a toolbox, which is not seen again. When Jake regains consciousness, he is not behind a door, while in the next frame, he is. During the zoom out where Finn tells Jake he imprisoned the candy people, Peppermint Butler is not covered in saliva, and Princess Bubblegum disappears from where she was first seen. When Jake reaches out to free Peppermint Butler, he is covered in saliva again. In the final scene, Peppermint Butler and other candy people are not seen flying while hanging from each other's legs. It appears the number of candy people Finn first sees does not match the rescued ones. When Finn goes back to the tent to tell Jake that he heard candy people in the sewers, the knife Jake keeps in the box next to the mattress is no longer there. When Jake reveals he has been waiting for six months and bugs start to crawl on him, his cape is gone. It reappears as Finn starts to move away from the tent. When Finn "pops his top", his nipples are visible. However, when he walks into the fountain to bathe, they are gone. When the stag is hit with cinder blocks his fingers are shown. As the candy people roll him to the drain he has his hooves back on (and while spiraling down the drain).
There is a theory regarding the deer and it is that if you remember the chapter "very young" Princess Bubblegum says that to grow and increase the mass of candy she needs: mass of candy (as the candy people were in that same chapter) and something like saliva to join them and finish it off with some "heat" The theory says that the deer planned to recreate it on a large scale using the entire kingdom, but it is something that was never clarified until the end of the series.

When the comic Jake kept in the box is first seen, it says "Manly Man," but it says "Man Man" in its second appearance.
There is a theory regarding the deer and it is that if you remember the chapter "very young" Princess Bubblegum says that to grow and increase the mass of candy she needs: mass of candy (as the candy people were in that same chapter) and something like saliva to join them and finish it off with some "heat"
The theory says that the deer planned to recreate it on a large scale using the entire kingdom, but it is something that was never clarified until the end of the series.
Nux: time for adventure time because I need the drugs
Bad trip commences
This episode creeped me out so much. Something about the way it stands and removes its hooves is genuinely terrifying.
This episode terrified me as a kid!
Even now as an adult it sends shivers down my spine 😰
3:40: SNAIL!
By the way Nux, the deer is still alive. He appeared in the final part of the Elements miniseries, transformed into candy.
the editor showed his appearances on screen for a quick sec
Dude. This is like animated creepy pasta. I hope this episode doesn't give me nightmares, because my brain likes to use what I watch against me whenever I sleep.
At 18 I still have this issue. Tho it’s more adult anxiety nightmares now
The fact that Finn got his legs snapped into places and just said "whatever"😮
I like how he said Jake was a skin-walker but didn't say that when the deer juat stood up and started throwing hands
Also 4 more episodes till "THE EPISODE" nux ain't ready
The suspense of this ep is everything almost as good as the deer
Oh great Nuxanor
I AM EDGING for you to see the episode that everyone wants you to see
Make the Adventure time reactions more, since YOU WILL MENTALLY EXPLODE
4 more left to go
I'm almost sure that deer or Lemomgrab was my introduction to this show. It wasn't even the episode, it was a gif of it on Tumblr as a reaction to a post
This episode and the farmworld episode both absolutely fucking traumatized me as a kid
I know this traumatised me as a child when I remember the Deer as terrifying without even remembering what happened in the episode
Yeaaaaa this was the only ep that actually felt like I was on drugs or had a mental break and just woke up/regained sanity.
Alastor’s Deer part before it Died
Oh Deer!
Aight nux, This is legitimately just a mutant deer. It's a deer that was mutated into some freak creature.
I’ll always remember that scene from my childhood of the deer taking off their hooves to have humanoid hands, messes me up even now to see it
Can’t wait for the closet episode…
This is one of the most disturbing part of my childhood... esp when he removed the things on his foot and shows his fingers...
SCREW MY WORK, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
13:50 And doesn't that make it all the more terrifying?
Been waitin' for the freak deer episode.
Nux said so many things people on Twitter are gonna take out of context and cancel him for 💀
Watched this on Kick, and then watched it again here. This episode is truly terrifying. Loved watching your bad trip!
Just wait until farmworld
"it's just a regular deer"
*Takes hooves off*
"⚫_⚫"
FUN FACT: The deer's real name is "Mr. Hands". Look it up! *Do it*
You... You are **evil**
It’s true
Do not look up Mr. Hands, I repeat do not look up Mr. Hands.
No
Woe to those who look it up.
yes Nux. this is in fact the deer episode that everyone talks about.
Another horror episode, that's when you realize Pedelton Ward bamboozled CN. Adventure time? Nah, Horror time.
Pedelton ward: Horror is just part of the adventure.
this episode was literally peak for me, when someone said adventure time I was always reminded by this episode, and I was like ffn 10 back then, it's been 10 years and this ep is just so memorable, literally etched in my brain
1:01 Finn really got his legs broke like Ichigo did against Tesra 😂
What a lovely episode this is...
Ah yes, the infamous deer episode. The character that just showed up then never seen again
I thought I heard in an interview that the deer that appeared in "Son of Mars" was the same deer is this one. If I remember right, the creators brought him up again there because they were building him up in some way, but apparently never got around to really diving into his character.
dude i watched this episode like 100 times everytime it gets me the PTSD i got from this episode when i was 10 -12 is crazy
2:55 If only it were that simple... It's NEVER that simple in Adventure Time...
Nux you are very close to the Lore now. Please don't fall back into any more lengthy rabbit holes till the end of this season.
3:00 SNAIL🐌
behind Nux
This was wiped from my memory until I saw the deer. That’s how traumatizing this episode is
