BANNING the DACHSHUNDS?

Is it true? Do the Germans really want to ban the breeding of DACHSHUND dogs? Why? What is in the German Animal Protection law in connection with the future of Dachshunds? Is it really animal protection, or the result of an agressive lobby?

My late friend and her husband were serial Wiener Dog parents. Every one of their dogs (except a badly-abused rescue) lived into his/her late teens and was exceptionally healthy. Unlike some overbred dogs (especially those with pushed-in faces), dachshunds aren't necessarily unhealthy and unhappy. As with all dogs it depends on the breeder (and owner). They need a LOT of appropriate exercise or they are more likely to develop back problems. P.S. This is either a bot or a really ignorant human--it's DOXON, not, DASHund!
