My advice for trying to clear harder stages with annoying enemies that spawn at the same time is to turn your bursts back to manual and HOLD your burst charge until the toughest mobs spawn, then kill them with Red Hood or whoever your best DPS is. Personally, for me that's actually Laplace by a small margin (she slightly out-damages Red Hood assuming ideal conditions). But I will switch out my main and sub DPS units based on elemental weaknesses if I can.
The problem with tackling the really hard stages with auto burst on is that sometimes the auto system uses it too quickly, and then the burst ends right as the really tough wave actually spawns, dooming your team if they're in danger of being one-tapped and can't kill the mobs before they get their attacks off. As someone who regularly beats Hard Mode stages at a 80-90k BP deficit, it's the best advice I can give right now.
