I have a JC 77. These Roland amps are beasts at any size. And the transparency they give to effect pedals it's almost second to none. I keep wanting to pick up even a JC 22 so as to run in stereo...
Ronald Jones would run a super reverb with a JC 120 in stereo live, to just give the best spacial, 'SPACE' like sounds (his live effects were second to none) Crystal clear... Really creating a 3D sound for the listener-
Nice showcase of BOTH these items!

I’m not familiar w R Jones, but I used the super reverb/jc 120combo back in the day. I’d read bob Mould would combine a tube amp w a solid state & those were the amps I had. Never thought to split w a Dds though-just an old ab/y switch

Mark Boyd - Ronald Jones was the guitarist for the flaming lips from 92-96. He just used crazy effects live all the time in the best possible way! Yeah Bob Mould would do that with his set up- it sounded really good! Was fortunate to see him a couple of times-👍🏻

It’s also just a matter of running the signal - guitar into effects into an A/B/Y pedal and using the 2 amps as your source of sounds. Maybe one amp by you and the other one spread out like 10ft from you or whatever the desired effect is.
      👍🏻

Other than post rock/shoegaze context, I have seen none other than Paul Gilbert use DD3's HOLD mode for a creative effect, in the intro of his track "Get Out Of My Yard". As if this pedal directly inspired him to write that sequence. He uses this live to create short loops and engage with the audience, fun to watch.

The stereo parallel effects loop of the JC-40 is one of my favourite features and I love using it. Though, often, sadly, everyone I show it to hardly understands how the signal path works on it and thus doesn't realize the huge potential for amazingly useful tone crafting! ahhhrg

I ordered a Japanese vintage DD-3 to pair with the ps-2 I ordered yesterday. I’m so confused in regards to which style I want to move forward with. Part of me loves huge fuzzed out and overdriven sounds where I’ve recently been getting into more ambient stuff a la slowdive, Cocteau twins, Radiohead. Apparently the early dd-3’s used a different chip that makes them sound more similar to the dd-2. Curious as to how it will turn out. If only my tax returns would come in so I can purchase the Vintera Jaguar I’ve been eyeingz
