As an old guy who ditched his DD3 in the 90’s because it couldn’t do “tap tempo” 🤦🏼♂️, I IMMEDIATELY nabbed a DD3T when it was introduced. It’s the boss pedal we all used to pray for. ❤️
Still have my old DD3 that i bought new in 1986, its great but i havent used pedals in almost 20 years so its collecting dust at the moment and i have plans to sell it, i also still have a couple of other pedals that i i got back in the 80´s that im planning to sell.
There's also a trick to make your guitar sound like a sitar: Put a dummy cable in the Direct out and another cable from Output to your amp. Set the Feedback at Max., Delay time close to 50ms and Level at max. I've done it with my early '90s pink label DD-3 way back in time...
I've got one of these, LOVE IT! The only reason I'd ever replace this pedal is for a true stereo dual-delay, but use it right now as the delay on my wet channel.
I never had a Boss delay. In the early years, Dad got me a Fender Sidekick 15 Reverb, and my first few pedals were a KMD distortion, a Boss CE-2 and an Arion phaser. My next investment was straight to a rack full of Scholz Rockmodules, and shortly after, a DSP-128 so delay pedals didn't really get on my radar for a long time. Eventually, I did run a small pedalboard that included a few different drives and a ModTone delay, but that was always kind of supplemental to my rack setup. Just one of those things, I guess. I do still have the CE-2, it's the only pedal I've ever held on to.
I just bought this pedal cause my Waza craft doesn't sound anything like the Dd3t.I know one is Analog and Digital, The Digital just sounds Amazing to me,especially for leads.Great channel as always.
I have all 4 Long chip variants and the reason I prefer them is the texture and punch of the repeat. Maybe not as compelling to many as the benefit of a tap tempo input but the way I’ve used them live is more like a tape echo or a slap where the time basically doesn’t matter lol. Great as always my mang!
@@LeonTodd those all sound noticeably different from unit to unit too! That was a really good one. I have a DM3 that sits perfectly between the murk of the DM2 and the spank of the DD. Pretty underrated unit.
0:49 I would buy the DD-8 instead and set it to warm mode. From what I know this setting emulates the "long delay chip" sound of the DD2, early DD3 and SDE3000.
Like it better with filth than with clean, I guess because the crustiness complements the dirt. I own a DD-5 and prefer that for its versatility, but this is still a good pedal, keeping in mind the issues you noted.
i got one of these by accident lol, was intending to buy a dd8 but 'drink-drink-buy' meant i got a dd3t 😂. I do like it though. Use it in tandem with a reecho that does washy delays while the dd3t is dope for clarity, like leads etc when you still want space.
My first delay pedal was an Ibanez digital delay. Tried a few Boss delays over the years but never really found them inspiring. Currently going with a couple of Catalinbread delay pedals, and a TC Electronics Flashback (yeah, I'm Danish so I have to support TC Electronics, it's a rule). But you make this Boss DD-3T sound pretty damned good, I must admit! I briefly used a Tech 21 delay, it was great because of the tap tempo delay aspect, but it left very audible 'after sounds' when you switched it off. Kind of like a distant helicopter taking off. Playing that through a high gain rig just wasn't viable.
@@MichaelSorensen-bl3ec Behringer has had TC since 2015, so presumably if they were going to destroy their quality, we'd see it by now. Man, you made that thing sing! Also, I've learned so much just from watching you play - huge thanks. 💪🎸🔥 I have a BOSS Katana MKII-100 and I wonder if I can get these great levels of tweaked effects out of it.
@@LeonToddif you haven't tried the ps2 I recommend it, the delay is just a dd3 with more options and more gritty And the pitch shifting is pretty damn musical
Boss DD users check in here! What are you using?
DD8 because it has all the features and modes and the DD7 because I prefer the more drastic mod setting on this one.

Came for this comment, I miss this feature, maybe I’ll get a DD3 again 😅
It's the GOAT delay pedal. Eventide is cool and all, but this is it for infinitely usable "just step on it, sound epic".

Hola Leon.A big hug from Cuba. I still have a DD3 on my pedalboard and it sounds amazing,I just simply love BOSS pedals.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out mate! I'd love to come visit someday.

Sounds great Leon. I think you're right that they should have added some mods or something. It could have been a Waza model. I wonder why they didn't.

“This is the way.”
All FOUR long chip variants … ?
DD-2, early DD-3, … ??
Leon... The volume drops when you switch the DD3t on.. Unless I'm mistaken??
I'll stick with my TC Flashback for now... That's being honest friend...
Sounding good dude .... Im thinking of changing to the dd8 tho... Reckon its worth the upgrade ?
Borrow mine and see if you like it.

Always better with dirt :D
The black label is a little different from the original. DD3 I have. But I set the same settings you have here and they're pretty dead on.
Great news 'cause I 🖤 the original one! 🎉

Is the DD-8 a true stereo pedal? Will it still pan with both inputs connected? The issue with my DD-6 is that it won't pan with both inputs in use.
As much as I've loved my DD3 for well over 25 years, you owe it to yourself to check out the Catalinbread Belle Epoch Deluxe.
I really should, I've only heard great things about it
Question to the DD3T users: Does the DD3T cut off the delay trails if its deactivated for example at the end of a solo? 🤔
Leon can you do a good swell effect on the DD3T?
Awesome pedal
It sure is!
Nice touch. ✨
Thanks! 😊
I actually kept a dd3 just for the glitch effect.
Does anyone knew a pedal that can do this but with more control?
Sounds great 👍
Thanks mate!

Hi Leon - the DD-3T does NOT sound like the DD-3 and DD-2. It´s ok, but the sound is not the same.
It's more interesting than the dd3
Dsd2 or dsd3 are cheap and both have the dd2 long chip and are exactly the same as the dd2
Im not sure if the dd2 and early dd3 is completely digital.
Yes I look at the scheme of the dd2 old dd3 dsd2 dsd3 and the repeats are generated not in a digital way
Dd2 is a hybrid in a similar way as a pt2399 delay just it goes thru much more complex sampling hardware
Yeah they're what I'd call "DDL" units since they're a digital delay line with analog filtering
@@LeonToddif you haven't tried the ps2 I recommend it, the delay is just a dd3 with more options and more gritty
And the pitch shifting is pretty damn musical
@@je7647 been looking for one for a while for that very reason! that and the DSD seem to be the real hidden gems from that era.
