In this story, I think that when Blackbeard attacks Whitebeard on his ship with the intention of killing him, shanks's crew come to support Whitebeard. And we get to see a battle between the red hairs and Blackbeard's crew. Benn Beckman tries to protect Whitebeard while shanks is busy with kaido ...
i dont think he is. oda wont hype akainu to have the most destructive single name attack for nothing. and Oda literraly said in an interview that Akainu is the strongest marine in history meaning he is stronger than prime garp. and im sure the reason why akainu didnt fight shanks then because akainu works for shanks dad or his family.

This event will also decrease the strawhats' improvement after the time skip or they would've probably wouldn't go to a time skip and gets wiped out by other large factions like punk hazard arc. Then Blackbeard would also probably reap most of the rewards in the aftermath of the war and could possibly take the magma fruit along with the quake fruit and phoenix fruit but then he would lose some of his members after kaido's rampage but with the gorosei's intervention blackbeard can escape. So in conclusion it is just rightvthat shanks arrived a little late or else an all out war would commence.

Second thing is Kaido isn't dumb enough to randomly swing he's attack or even engage with Shanks knowing he's arsenal are all deadly and lethal. Third is Shanks Conquerer Haki alone could knock everyone below Vice-Admiral level (Except Garp) unconscious. Fourth Garp would possibly engage with Shanks considering that he's the person that convinced Luffy to be a pirate. The fifth problem that I noticed is Whitebeard wouldn't be probably retreating alone probably with Vista or the guy who looks like a girl, hence Blackbeard wouldn't go unnoticed since Whitebeard is already on the ship Last thing is the biggest “wtf” thought of mine is the arrival of Saturn, there's no reason for him to be joining in the war considering that the 5 elders always keep in low profile, the only thing that it is on my mind for him to join the war is knowing that Luffy has the Nika Devil Fruit.
