Growing up with a verbally abusive and alcoholic father isn’t easy. However, this adverse
childhood experience molded Rodney Lawson into a unique individual in two ways. First,
his trauma led to an impeccable drive for success. He excelled up the Corporate ladder at
a very young age, going from an entry-level sales rep to running a Fortune 100 Telecom
Company’s International Center, responsible for 687 employees from over 50 countries.
He was promoted 14 times during these 12 years. Having to support himself after high
school, he pursued his bachelor's in management and MBA in International Business, both
disciplines with honors, and as a full-time executive.
Secondly, the trauma made him defiant in questioning the norm regarding injustice
situations. Throughout his corporate experience, he’s witnessed opportunities snatched
away from people who were less fortunate due to their race, culture, sex, or
underprivileged background. His early harsh treatment prompted him to create personal
training modules where he would share and teach individuals who were single parents on
welfare, street individuals who saw no future, and anyone who wanted to succeed in the
Corporate World.
Early in Rodney’s career, two factors led to his epiphany in leading by the heart. His
supervisor challenged him about his goal of being a corporate executive. She felt he
lacked the acquired skills to move into management. On another occasion, he was
verbally disrespected, attempting to get him to work after his shift. Both incidents shaped
Rodney’s mindset in ensuring he would not follow the norm and that leaders working with
him would always care for their people.
Once entering management, these events drove Rodney to create a proven process on
what he calls “Magnetic Leadership, 4 Universal Laws we are all Motivated by.” Today,
Rodney is responsible for thousands of employee’s successes in a financially rewarding
living. He is a bestselling author of “Broken, Inspired, and Driven” and a Sigma Beta Delta
International Honor Society member, recognized for Business, Management, &
Administration.
Today, Rodney is the founder and owner of Rodney Lawson, LLC, a consulting, training,
and coaching company. Rodney is also a profound keynote speaker who has delivered
impactful speeches for corporations, social network groups, events, conferences,
churches, and others.
