YHM has been using tapers and big threads for 15-20 years… still the best way to mount suppressors! (As you can see by all of these other companies doing it now!!) I’ve never had a single issue in 17 years, with any of my Phantom QD’s, on various different platforms…. Oh, and I love Tri-lug mounts for PCC’s. and then the Cam-lok for pistols…. (Which is kinda a Tri-lug haha)
Tax stamp took less than a full work week to get approved. Got to try this and my obsidian 9 and man oh man, this Velos is absolutely bonkers. Bonkers good. I will say, I only shot about 50 rounds and it was freakin hotttt. Took a few to cool off, more so than I thought. I am also a novice so maybe you others understand it would take a while to cool off.
Great review! I've had one for a few months now and love it. The finish is chipping off in a few places but it's still solid. Mine lives on my 16" LWRC ICDI and works great.

The 15.2 oz is without the included ASR mount. So it’s really nearly 19 oz and 6.75” as seen in this video. Would have to get a Charlie to Reardan Plan B or Griffin Plan A adapter to lighten some weight and length.
Actually 15-16oz core-only is about correct for a full sized hard use Inconel can or steel/Inconel hybrid. But yeah, IDK why didn't they choose to make it bravo mount.
@@MrTB321 Because DT is either not secure or you have to really torque it on one rifle at 20-30 ft-lb. Not a bad solution if you only want the can for one rifle. Otherwise it means you have to leave all the other rifles w/o a muzzle device if you want to switch it around. What a pain 😂
The 30 cal can I have did alright on 556 but the Velos 556 18:0318:03 is so good that I’m comfortable shooting with no ear pro on. I’m not a ninja, not really concerned with how it sounds in front of me, though I think that it sounds great. I’m concerned about the drivers seat, and this can shines in that aspect.
@jwilson3985 it doubt they built it to compete with cheaper cans. I believe they are going for higher end cans like surefire, dead air and huzwrx with their flow thru designs
More durable than the original saker 762? I have a saker shaped hole in the pavement in the asphalt in front of my house. Unloaded the truck at night once and it must have rolled off of my truck when I was moving stuff into the vault room. My wife moved my truck and ran it over....it buried into the asphalt and I had to dig it out. I sent it to sco and they said it was fine, completely concentric baffles, not a scratch.

Hello, I'm just wondering if you have any info on enfield rifle company going out of business. I purchased a suppressor from them and as you know they had a lifetime warranty. They lost a lot of potential buyers by going the charlie route. Yeah there are plan B mounts for it, but still. SiCo should dump all their non hub threads for their 1.5"+ dia cans.

@@nfareview if you can, give it a try It captures the sound more completely since you're not splicing two recorded sounds with limiters or placing the mics 25 yards out due to the peaking, it's just the actual sound It does need an unorthodox setup, because now you have to use mics that have a much higher SPL (I used Shure SM58s). But you just use a Zoom F3 (or whatever 32 bit float with those mics, put it basically at normal distance (i.e right next to you where you as the shooter would actually be), and hit record. When you're editing, you just set the editor limiter to adjust for peak (i.e not applying limits to the audio but changing the amplitude frame to not clip the audio) and then boom, there's your audio. 24 bit can be adjusted manually using limiters but it never feels quite right. The other advantage to this is that you can pick up sounds you normally can't (even with a condenser) because the overall sound level is too high. Something I could pick up was the sproing of the buffer spring on an M16A4 build, with the sound of the suppressor, which is something you only hear through your cheek usually. It captured it even 18" in front of the muzzle. Just something to try out.
Now try a CAT WB. On my 12.5 with adjustable gas, it locked back on the same setting as a Velos which was setting 7. While being as quiet as an RC2 and SCI SIX. For comparison my gun locks back on setting 10 unsuppressed and an RC2 locked back on setting 3 and SCI SIX locked back on setting 4. The CAT ODB and PTR Vent 3 are amazing as well. They both locked back on setting 9.

Non of the cans I have bought have been because of their customer service, warranty, “how they present themselves” etc. I’m after modern, effective tech that actually works and isn’t a gimmick. They let the performance of their designs speak for themselves. And the truth is that CAT and PTR are top dogs right now at suppressor tech development. And they even made a “serious” instagram for people that can’t handle their normal satire one.
I turn down a lot of…how do I say this…janky brands. I simply will not waste my time nor yours to review them. I decline the review and move on. These videos take a week to film and edit, spread across multiple days. Then there’s ammo, editing, time away from my family etc. Olight still emails me to this day and I just delete it without opening the email. So yes, I like most of the cans I review because they are designed and built by companies that know what they’re doing. Quality over quantity always.

I've never understood how a suppressor can be over $1,100 it's a tube with some baffles. There is no way you're going to convince me that this suppressor cost as much as a complete rifle to manufacture.
@@youreright7534 I bought my first suppressor in 2007, nearly 20 years ago. I still remember when the Gen1 SiCo Sparrow was introduced and then the Osprey45, one of the worlds first hearing safe (DRY) 45 cans. Why is it SiCo has not been a viable option for you?

My first can was an aac 762 sd, which was mainly just because it was cheap and good suppression compared to everything else in 2016. 2nd was a YHM turbo which just blows everything out of the water for the price and performance, 3rd was sig srd762qd which is my favorite and was a great deal at $680, and last was a q erector 9 last year which had a free stamp. Silencerco just never had anything that was competitive in the lower priced options I guess.
Your assessments are spot on. I’ve had my 556 Velos for about a month now and it is hands down the way to go as far as a 556 can, especially on a SBR.

looking to throw on same exact rifle was the lbp sufficient or did you have to mess with buffer spring and gas block ?
