That top deck Kill Command is the most classic thing in the whole video
Frost Nova/Doomsayer is peak Classic imo.
@@VVheeli nova/doomsayer then get kodo'd that's more Classic
@@56majima72 what about nova/doomsayer into leper gnome to play around ice block
Soulfire discarding other soulfire.
Well literally because its not in Standard anymore lol
Well of course it is, you control your opponents HP
i find this oddly erotic
Feels so wild seeing classic hearthstone again. Fun to hear firebats "back in my day" old timer commentary.
Heh. Wild. Old cards. There's a pun to be made here somewhere.
@@Xcallion Should have pulled out the thesauras to avoid puns. Only Firebat makes the dad jokes here.
You can feel the 2014 coming out of Firebat when he talks about how bad Midrange Hunter was
Man it's weird seeing Firebat actually play around things because there is no random generation.
Jesus christ how relevant this comment is now.
@@MrMrallout As a HS player who played from the start until 2019, the random resource generation destroyed the game. I loved Classic, and was sad to see it discontinued, even though it was 95% bots by the end haha.
In Classic, at least you could consistently hand-read opponents and enjoy genuine strategy.
I hope Firebat is doing well. I still watch his Hearthstone videos all the time to relax. Long after I stopped playing ranked HS, I would still watch his vids.
"Filthy Highroller"
*Draws last copy of KC*
"See! We stalled long enough to win!"
Reynad may have a character, but I'm pretty sure that Kripp's salt is still 100% real.
So what firebat is saying is that he enjoys reynad being salty for real 😂
old hearthstone is so funny because its just trying to see how many times you can pass before exploding them
Taste my steel?
NOPE
Taste my skill?
YUP
Ngl I thought it was face of steel dhkdbdnd
I see a very different Firebat when he plays Classic. He's in his Ultra Instict mode, very different from his casual and light-hearted mood when he plays BGs or Standard. I like both sides of the Firebat I see, and goes to show how intense he can get when put in his element.
I didn't play Hearthstone back in the Classic days. Watching Firebat play Classic Hearthstone is a thing of beauty.
Reynad and Lifecoach... Firebat is relentless with the nostalgia punches
So true.
I always loved firebat's hunter commentary. He talks through the decision-making so well.
Ed is definitely a control player. He controls my likes... And comments.... And subscribes.
Standard round 4: play 6/6 worth of stats, clear the enemy board and draw 2 cards.
Classic round 4: Chillwind yeti
Wild turn 4: You died on turn 3 to odd Paladin
I used to play murloc shaman, had the ability of turn 2 kill.
Odd pally never kills you that fast, token druid and pirate warrior maybe.
@@shwift8789 tell me how
No, Odd Paladin doesn’t kill you on 3 lmao, its more like darkglare with 24/24 worth of stats on the board
@@shwift8789 Murloc Shaman never had a turn 2 kill.
Weirdly this classic HS meta/mode seems way more engaging and fun to play, must be the lack of ridiculous RNG and card generation
Theres much more counterplay because you and your opponent cant just randomly pull answers/threats out of thin air.
It's also way less balanced with some very frustrating unavoidable combos. Try to play a day against miracle rogues and combo druids and the fun instantly disapears lol
It also seems more engaging and fun because Firebat is clearly having a lot of fun. It's fun to watch people have fun.
@@flocecotti4993 hey, I am the miracle rouge.....
@@flocecotti4993
But doctor I am the combo druids
Classic bat is glorious, like watching a chess GM
Funny because in this game he's actually a grand master
man when there was so much less healing priest felt so different
"You know what is good. Drawing 4 cards in your aggro deck with 0 mana removal". Hm, that kind of reminds me of a certain 1 mana card.
Fuck modern rogue lol
I love this content. Firebat in his element. So cool to hear about Classic and see decks piloted by the first ever Hearthstone World Champion. Hearing him riff on Reynad was super interesting too, I really liked his take. Also, shoutout to Ed for always keeping the edits snappy and entertaining. Love both your work, and look forward to watching you guys through 2021!
- mesk.
Man that guys play before you beat him at the end was actually fucking awesome though haha, he almost had ya
It's interesting watching years of experience and developed theory about the game applied to its original state.
I love this classic content from firebat. He has so much insight!
Ngl, Control hunter was my favourite archetype.
Shame it only worked with the Deathknight.
Bat had really good classic commentary. Good stuff 👏
Hunter? I hardly know 'er!
This is awesome! Glad to see bat having fun. So little RNG
well i stopped playing hearthstone so at least here I can understand what the card do
Love it when FB delivers on the title first thing
you're so good at this game
Control players need to hear "just go face". Face players need to hear "it's a control deck". Once you've failed at both you can see the lines.
I was so ready for you to Kill Command Argus and drop Misdirection for the lucky self-lethal haha.
Can we get some more 'random viewer submitted deck' gameplay? I was really enjoying those.
Well of course there are three games in this 13 min video lmao
Clasic firebat control hunter, love it.
man i like that mustache
Man this classic content has me so ENGAGED. Jk not a fan but I'll like and comment regardless of what my boy firebat plays.
Do me trade?
Nope.
Do me go face?
Yup.
If the face plays taunt we hit (taunt's) face.
Ahh the nostalgia, beautiful...
I always said if they want to replicate the "steady" shot experience, print Raza/other hero power upgrades/more rush for Hunter. The 0 mana face-only hero power is super important because then it doesn't stop you from controlling the board. Making the minions+face hero power class keep trading into minions and playing control would've been awesome.
Actually hunter was originally designed to be a control class, hunter was supposed to control the board while the hero power slowly but steadily killed the opponents. If you look at their cards in the basic set they have a lot of control tools: hunter's mark, freezing trap, explosive trap, deadly shot, multi shot, etc. You may also notice that most of the damage cards in this deck are neutral: leper gnome, abusive sargent, wolf rider, arcane golem, leroy jenkins, etc. Players quickly realized that the hero power was much better on an aggressive game plan than on a controlling one.
@@3snoW_ it's kind of unfortunate because midrange/big hunter has always been really fun to play.
Firebat is so much better than everyone else at classic. No surprise he was world champion.
Loving the hot 2014 takes 🔥
I am ENGAGED with this content
Hearthstone is a fun and interactive game where you try to control your opponent’s life total to a full number that is less than 1
HE KEPT THE DOUBLE SECRETS
Now that classic is a thing I might actually play the game again
oh nice they did unnerf eagle hunter bow ?
In the new Classic mode (classic cards only), all the cards are back to how they were in 2014.
9:39 Major KEKW
First time I've ever heard Firebat speak absolutely negative on something
Midrange hunter must be garbo
It's not lol. The only bad matchup for it was Miracle Rogue. It beat everything else cleanly, to the point of frustration.
@@GaussianEntity While I don't think it's a bad deck, it was not favored against everything other than Miracle. Face hunter was much better more consistent deck which is why Firebat says that
@@nathanhargenrader645 Okay, what decks did it lose to? Face Hunter has some bad matchups too. If you didn't land around 10 damage in the first 3 turns, you were in for a rough time, which happened against decks like Control Warrior and Handlock. Midrange Hunter beats those decks.
“Filthy high-roller” then the bat topdecks lethal
I’m just looking at these old cards and being like “Oh right, Abusive Sergeant and Leper used to be 2 attack.”
Man, Old Hunter looks so mild compared to today.
Old hunter was even nastier since healing was super bad in the classic set
Everyone is Druid/Rouge because they were iconic then so every one want to relive the gross combos
I don't haven't played Hearthstone since the first Old Gods expansion.
What on earth is happening? Arcane Golem and Leper Gnome in Face Hunter again? Buzzard/Unleash? 3 mana BGM? Did someone fuck with the timeline again?
How do you win with Hunter in Classic? I've been struggling so much with both Face and Midrange at rank 10 gold. I've been watching streamers play hunter, mimicking their thought processes, and have felt like every match i've fallen behind at some point today. Not a huge sample size; but i'm 3-4 with Midrange and 4-8 face; in particular the druid match just brutalizes me with face hunter, even with the buzzard/timber/unleash/hunters mark dream plays they seem to stabilize enough to kill me. Then I see firebat make it look easy hahaha.
Any tips would be appreciated. I can't help but feel compelled to go back to the decks i climbed up to gold 10 with, even though I want hunter to work.
Maybe you aren't hero powering enough, you need to do that shit a LOT.

Commenting for the classic GOAT
Firebat was world champion in this era, why is no one mentioning that....
Wait, so Hunter and Druid both had really good two card combos that each had 1 card nerfed into uselessness? Interesting
I mean, Force saw play the past three expansions in token decks, Feno got rank 1 legend in the darkmoon meta with a list that ran it. Buzzard truly was dead after the nerf tho.
@@trDewy dam, I haven’t been paying close enough attention to the meta. Way to go force of nature
@@crunchytoast6007 I'm glad buzzard isn't good, any deck with a one card super draw engine never feels fun for me to fight (like divine favour and UI) as they are super reliant on those cards
I thought coin animal companion has been proven to be a bad play or is it not in classic
What's priest and paladin's good decks? I don't remember them being very good then
Aggro and control paladin are decent tier 2 deck. Priest sux at classic which is good news, unless you want to farm CW with 2 MC and 2 thoughtsteal. Lol
Control deck with that single godly 4 mana fat cost card. Man, I miss watching Lifecoach, Kolento, Strifecrow, Firebat, and the rest back when the game wasn't purely RNG city. However, I do not miss the decks being played. At least I'm not hearing "EVERYONE GET IN HERE" for 5 minutes straight yet. When it gets that far the tilt and salt will truly show...I love how people called that deck "pure skill" when you had people that would 100% win with it but nearly 75% lose with EVERY other deck they played in tournaments. Patron warrior was fun to calculate as fast as you could to find the optimal path for a big turn but it was absolutely awful to watch or play against.
5:45 That right there is why I hate Tracking. I'm so glad it got changed in modern HS.
how its any different compared to now? hunters don't live enough for it to make a difference
@@Dexiteo Maybe, but it's nice to futureproof, like when dire frenzy rotates back in next week it'll feel nice to not discard some buffed beasts from tracking.
Haven’t watched ha in ages.. leeroy is 4 mana and buzzard for 2, mark for 0. What happened?!
He's playing a new format called Classic, where the only cards are those from when hearthstone was originally released and in their original states, so 4 mana Leeroy, 6 mana Force of Nature with charge, etc. In normal hearthstone, Buzzard is back to 2 and Mark to 1, but both cards are wild-only now with the new Core Set rotation, and Leeroy still costs 5.
@@johnnyx9437 i watched the 2014 finals yesterday and a) it contains Naxx cards and b) those Naxx cards changed some match ups massively.
So is this the optimum way to play this deck? I've been doing ok going full aggro and often winning turn 6/7/8 I've been playing this exact deck except -1 misdirection and +1 flare. Had no idea that using it to control the board was effective.
You had to play it like this vs better players because they can force you to waste resources while they develop a stronger board.
@@GaussianEntity thanks, that's interesting. I have been doing surprisingly well against control warriors by just overwhelming them early, providing I draw decently, but then I've lost a lot of games against zoolock that I thought were supposed to be easy wins. This is probably why.
wait did they add Leeroy Jenkins back + make it cheeper?
Face hunter is a CONTROL deck. Yup you control the opponent's health
3:40
Burst 14 damage from hand...
Now i see why they nerf charge minions
Did you go to MSU?
yeah, even hyper aggro zoo lock is still a control deck
I guess people know now more about the game. And have experience playing combo miracle decks. That's why
CONTROL THE FACE
Control the board by going face. Dead heroes can't play minions.
Here for the buzzard unleashed off the mulligan
Face has taunt!
So midrange hunter is bad... but what about the famous "hybrid hunter" ?
Best control deck is the one were you control there face!
I’d say face hunter is a value deck. You give your opponent 2hp discount on their health every turn.
Kill tthe face, the game ends, so tthe opponent can't draw or play any cards anymore. Spells, minions, doesn't matter. The ultimate control
