things I have relearned playing Classic: 14 isn't enough health, 20 isn't enough health, 22 isn't enough health (thanks to innervate), 26 isn't enough health if you get to 27 then you should probably be safe. if your opponent runs alex then you probably can't win unless you're priest or you win from your tempo before alex. the only decks that can kill you at 30 is miracle after a gadgetzan turn or combo warlock with arcane golem and double soulfire, which can backfire if soulfire discards itself. also taunts are your friend, basically no OTK besides a spell damage mage or miracle rogue can kill you through taunt
I was trying to make my own weird Inner Fire priest work last night, got a couple of wins but it was mostly painful. Is that Amaz deck the only (kind of) decent version of priest in classic?
I have so much nostalgia for that deck. Was one of my favourites to play back in classic. The sustain, card draw, etc. But man those games looked so terrible.
I just killed two Face Hunters in a row as Classic Priest. It might be the worst class in Classic and therefor it feels even better to win. But the class lack so much compared to other classes like Rogue, Druid, Warlock, Hunter and well, most of them. No way to counter a 4-attackcard just to give an example.
I played a lot of priest back in the day and did very well with it. Definitely an issue with the deck pilot here. :P Also some of those cards are questionable. Not sure about the double thoughtsteal, double holy fire, and mind blast. Pretty sure I ran double shadow madness to target those druids and zoo warlocks. Very draw-dependent deck, though. You really need your draw combos or you're gonna have a bad time. And you hard mulligan for pyromancer vs zoo.
I think he based his deck on Amaz's classic priest which did include off-beat cards like Mind Blast. Being able to deal 10 from hand as priest with mind blast + holy fire allows for unexpected wins against decks like handlock. The thoughtsteals are for control warrior and priest mirrors, I guess? I feel like your deck inclusions would be more suitable for the current classic meta, though. Mind blast is pretty sad versus zoo. :/
So, what's the win condition if you remove the holy fires and mind blasts? You're pretty much suggesting he remove his entire win condition from his deck, heh.
You actually win by sticking minions like injured blademaster a lot of the time. Nobody can kill the body, and you keep healing it after your opponent runs out of cards and smacking them in the face with it. Sometimes you fatigue them, and some deck variations run ysera or other late-game win conditions. Rag obviously it's a big one
