- Some people in the comment sections have been very critical of Whitemane's Cataclysm realm - Maelstrom. Especially of the scripting on the server and the Vashj'ir Cataclysm zone not even being scripted for many months. So how bad is it really and is this criticism warranted?

Big issue I have is slightly worse scripted private servers (mistblade, Whitemane) market themselves far better and are more popular than better scripted servers (Twinstar servers are far better scripted, but whitemane is still far more popular)
yea, but scripting is only a part of the overall experience, you still have many more events, custom features and so on on the more popular servers usually
I'm sorry but you didn't even review Vashir completely you literally just did 4 introduction quests and called it done and said the zone is working fine I understand that you are more of a pvp player and don't like questing especially in vashir but if you want to do zone review you should do at least half of the zone quests or even loremaster imo that way you know how really good scripted that zone is I could've made the same video about twinstar twilight highlands working 4 years ago when in reality you could have done the introduction quests fine but once you reached around 70 quests completed you got stuck because the rest of the zone was still completely broken no hate i just dont see this as a "zone" review just my opinion.
I actually did around 8 quests in the zone, not hating either, but you should get your facts straight before calling it "literally just did 4 intro quests"

@@mates9816 yea I quit this server when it launched bc I saw that Vashir wasn’t even a zone you can play and all the quest were bugged. I figured that was the case when you hit level 60 you get a quest to skip to level 80 so I just dropped this server and went back to Apollo but now they have a new server called Athena that’s a fresh Cata server.

@@kristiyangrigorov5232 yea the Athena server is good. I’m not too sure about the population in numbers but I don’t usually have any troubles finding grps with the cross faction in the game. I find most servers have an amazing start then drop off later in the servers life but as long as I can raid and do heroic dungeons and the occasional PvP I’m usually content.

But u didnt quest more in vashjir, there might be more bugs 🤷🏻♀️, and why wud players be in vashjir when it IS bugged clearly. Seriously when u encounter a bug in a zone like that there is a risk that every quest ahead might also be bugged, no telling when it will pop up and ruin the effort n time. The info wasnt bs the evidence is there u didnt investigate more .
there might be bugs, but I only saw 1 which I was able to fix, if someone wants to go through the entire questing experience - they will, and can let us know how it went...what evidence is there? which quest is bugged?

It is not bad, it is really good at this point. The only people that are complaining are Twinstar devs and their close friends. Or they were, when their new catacysm server was launching. And they were attacking anyone who said that whitemane is in a good state. Guess what , people ignored the reddit hate and now Athena is dead and Whitemane is still going strong.
Concerning Vashir no one really cares, i did the mistake to do it once when cata was retail and i avoided it since then. If you are not a druid mount hyjal is a much better area to level.
It’s literally been the best experience for me the entire year, what I’ve played:
- turtle wow (pve and pvp server)
- endless (dead and buggy)
- Athena (everyone said this was 10x better than whitemane ? Literally didn’t notice a difference enough to care)
- stormforge MOP
- warmane onyxia
some people like to exaggerate, I also don't think Athena would be that much better in terms of scripting as some ppl make it seem

I'm sad that the shop doesn't have the Armored Netherdrake like Warmane does but I enjoy the server. The Goblin starter area works good for the most part (I lost the keys to my car after the first time I used it so I had to walk all over the place) but the Lost Isles were great. Can't wait to try Vashj'Ir! Kappa
Im leveling through it now. Ive encountered a few bugs in stonetalon. Mainly a few quests that just straight up didn't work. But so far its fine. Ill really hold off before i give my full criticisms until after i get to end game.

Battle ground experience is not good. No balance classes or gear.
class balance is a matter of expansion, it was designed this way 15 years ago
ive lved 5 85s on whitemane, druid, dk, rogue, hunter, pally in the last few weeks (and geared all of them in full pvp gear quickly, havent checked every single zone, found one missing flight master in far eastern redridge, some bugged quests, but i got my wow fix and it was awesome

Trash tier server, i was censored and banned because i was a victim of ninja looting! YES, a victim! They claimed to be against ninja looting, but after i filled the form and sent the screenshots as proof, they denied it, almost calling me a liar!
I complained, and they ended up banning my account! Amazing work, isnt it?
Oh so they actually have added the zone, interesting. There’s a new spirit beast pet there and I wanted it on my hunter so I asked them politely if they could at least spawn the beast elsewhere if vashj’ir is closed. The response I got was “no, nobody care” - literally, even with the typo xd
haha even with the typo 😆 yea there's probably not that many BM hunters, but it would sound reasonable to have means of obtaining that pet otherwise, but good that they eventually got the zone working

I came Back to WoW after 9 years and started playing on Whitemane nearly a month ago and i gained so much good experiences in this Server, after 9 years my knowledge of WoW is so Bad but a few friendly Players explained so much that I got a better knowledge again and it makes a Lot of fun playing on this Server and i experienced nothing Bad till now, Greetings from Germany ❤️

sadly the server is dead for PVE,most people only plays PVP on whitemane.
I have submitted a ticket about paying for currency on the server and not had a reply at all and it's been a week! not impressed.

The problem is that cata is not wrath
Is not 'bad' but quest scrip is considerable worse than apollos, and leveling dungs are bugged(some like scarlet mon. Or dire maul some doors gets closed and the dung is bugged) but I've having a blast the last month mainly because the quality of life features and the focus on late game and classes.
Conclusion is if planning on doing zone quests and party content like a lot the apollos also. For the pvp and endgame content Whiteman is the best option because population.
Interesting, I have definitely seen quite a few bugs these days that I am actively playing on Whitemane…might need to make a follow up video
So what realm should I choose? Any of them are popular right now?
Personally after testing it only in pvp, it is less well scripted for pvp than Twinstar but still very much playable even at a high rating.
The downside of PvP on Twinstar is just that there are no PvP players 😢

most practical players already saw these high rates and fast paced structure coming from whitemane as a clear indicator that this server will not stand the test of time and these guys are just sprinting through content for cash and/or comfort due to the horde of zoomers complaining nonstop while impulse swiping...the budget scripting on a few zones and some random ass vashj quest being bugged has zero impact on this overall lol its going to happen on any and all private servers. That being said it is a really nice little fun server and have donated plenty with not too much regret because I enjoy cata and our crowd of peeps that came over from apollo to cause a ruckus :D enjoy it and just keep moving forward brotha 👻

ahaha sorry you know by now I am a ramblin' man! But I do my best to play both good cop and bad cop...easier said than done in this scene with the mountains of content from both retail or private these days, especially with the holidays. I've been playing this server straight through to 85..at 41 now lots of bugs and quests not working
I need to check those zones sometime, I leveled almost exclusively through BGs 😳
I don't know about the script, but the players are bad! If you join a HC dungeon, expect the group to die 3 times at least!

So I been thinking of Playing cata or wrath again. So I keep hearing good and bad things About the server and info that seems to counter each other.. So how is whitemane? Most of the things I can find are too old to draw any conclusions on.
Whitemane’s great, it’s improved a great deal too since its launch, definitely the best Cata pserver right now

Is this server good for someone that does only pvp?
Had alot of fun there, even did my first raiding here, black wing descent with a guild with good leaders but the server crashed midway and half people left lol :D, also did throne of 4 winds, really liked the very active community but the server kept crashing and heroic dungeon queue times were randomly very high or pretty low, you could wait for a dungeon for 5 hours straight lol :D that really bothered me because i only play for pve content and i tried to gear up with that justice point system. the pvp battlegrounds were really fun and you can level 1-85 there in 1 day.
it's usually not the best idea to raid on Whitemane if the raid is new 😐

Bad server . Lvl of players is insane . 5% players only are hardcore players , rest are big clown . Community russian are cancer ninja , spanish havent horrible skill . Objectif of staff team is money money money only money. 4 tarecgosa farm for nether for open new serv on 4.1 8 month later . Clap clap
There are two cata pservers atm, Whitemane and Athena. Can’t compare them actually because Athena is unpopulated and it seems like devs can’t improve it.

People criticise Whitemane's first ever iteration of Cataclysm, whilst Twinstar is on it's 5th-6th iteration (Hades, A1 - A3) and now Athena, which already has huge bugs like Cho'Gall Conversions not being casted, pets not working on Al Akir/Nefarian etc and the Head GM Jenic said that they're "too difficult to fix and is impossible" and so won't be addressed XD

Server is really good to have fun time.... Specially in pvp... But in pve its kind of bit frustrating.... If u dont hv achievement forget about getting invited in fl raid and that too in normal mode😂...no matter how experienced and geared you are.. No achi no discord =no inv lol.. And more annoying one is literally everything is like already reserved there lol.. Boe essense cinders and mounts tooo... 😂😂
yea that is the unfortunate reality of PvE on private servers in the past few years - no achiev since week 2 = no joining the raid 😮💨

@MEYTRIX There is this popular Windows emulator on mobile called winlator, and it can run older wow patches at 60 fps as long as it's cataclysm or above. I've been having a blast setting my ps4 controller to it and doing some dungeons

@rakanabdullatif4208 I will admit there's only enough buttons for 6 spells and the rest is movement but the movement does feel nice also you can assign your select button to scroll through your spells so you can use more than 6. I tell my dungeon group that I'm mobile and they are very understanding(I play tank btw)

This server is horrible. Most of the so called "pro" guilds gatekeep heroic content so you either have to make a group/guild yourself or just keep raiding normal. Heroic raiding also has a penalty debuff which reduced your damage and healing by about 20% to make it "more fun and challenging".
PVP is even a bigger mess than it was on retail Cata. Many rogues have started to use a new meta which inclues 2 trinket: Vial and Bone-Link. With those trinkets most rogues can literally one shot anything in the start of the arena match so now people that should be around 1400 rating are now around 2400 rating. I've seen full cataclysmic Paladins and Priests complaining that they're gemmed full +50 resi, have resillience trinkets and still get hit with Bone-Link Whirlwind proc for more than 40k damage! To "remedy" that problem Radegost decided to nerf the proc chance of Gurthalak, Bone-Link, Vial and some other items instead of just restricting the Fetish for Class: Warrior, Paladin, Death Knight like in the case of the Creche of the Final Dragon. And the admins (mainly Radegost) adamantly refuses to fix that meta. Gost is also a total douchebag, heard he did a fund for dog shelter only to increase the popularity of the server, disgusting behaviour (although it's just a rumor but many people seem to believe it). Also playing with Gurthalak now seems kinda redundant now since you'll maybe proc it once or twice in a single arena match in a span of over 10 minutes!
Solo queue has no matchmaking at all aside from picking 2 random dps players and one healer. You may be a 1600 or 2000 rated player and you'll get mashed up with 300 rated trash in your team. 2v2 is riddled with double rogue or double druid comps and you have no chance to win against any of that if you're a Warrior or a Death Knight player. People also seem to be adamant about playing terrible specs in soloq like Disciple Priests who are being killed in the initial 10 second fights, Frost Mages who can't set up correctly because it's only good in certain comps or Frost DKs who forgot it's not 2011 anymore and this spec is not viable for arena. Do they care? No. Will they cost you 200 to 400 rating in a single day? Hell yeah!
If they release the new server then the old one will probably end up as a dead placeholder for all your previous characters which just means everyone will stop playing on Maelstrom altogether. I'm very close to quitting Whitemane for good cause they seem to have no clue how to properly run this server and now Radegost is fixated on releasing the Wrath server even though Warmane has that covered and is years ahead of him with Lordaeron and Icecrown servers.
And let's not forget one of the bigger problems of this server: population. It's not great and there are sizable spanish and russian speaking communities here and a vast majority of them either refuses or can't speak English! This makes playing with them a horrible experience both in PVP and in PVE. In soloq these people are usually lower rated people and you can't explain to them who to focus and who to silence. In PVE explaining any tactics to them is akin to breaking laws of physics - impossible at best and absurd at worst.
I cannot recommend this server. If you're into Cata just wait for the Classic release and forget Whitemane even exists.
