Yes, me too! It said Pam is currently number one! I'm so happy about that! Pam, thank you! All these people out here that need this chanel, and need you.. I'm so grateful that you chose this to do, I know I've learned from you. The inspirational quotes you've been putting up are such a wonderful thing. They give me strength, and hope, and clear my mind for long enough to see where my focus really needs to be.. I have alot on my plate right now. Thank God I'm also pretty hungry.. 😁 THANK YOU, for everything.. May God bless you, and keep you.
Supposedly about 15 years ago Pyrex eliminated a chemical that made Pyrex only break into a few pieces. I only buy the old at thrift stores. Drop a new piece and it explodes into a million pieces.
The reason for the change is that now the glass might break into dozens of little pieces, but it won't sever a limb. You will be cleaning up glass for months, but you won't have a clean break big enough to cut your hand down to the bone, which could happen with the way the glass was previously made.
@@SamuelsReview It happened to me years ago. Be sure everyone wears hard soled slippers for a long time because I was still finding tiny slivers n pebbles months later even though I vacuumed and vacuumed. Hope you don't have pets 😕.
I wondered about Anchor Hocking. Thank you very much for the information. Thank you for the voting reminder. I pray that you win Pam. You deserve it and much more!❤️
Oh yessss! This is exactly why I know about the history of PYREX. A few years ago I was curious as to pyrex/PYREX vs anchor hocking and found alot of information. Great info Pam.
It’s so easy to listen to Chef Pam she has such a smooth soft voice she describes things in a clear manner, and she sure knows her stuff. Funny thing I’ve been collected vintage Pyrex for a few years now and I enjoy cooking spaghetti in the big one on the stove, can’t do it with the new lower case lettered ones! ❤
I have pyrex,Anchor -hocking, and fire king measuring cups for years no problem. Pyrex does have a storage line and a baking line l only purchase the baking line. I only bake, at 350, and never had a problem.
It's generally the temperature shock that causes shattering. So quick hot to cold or vice versa. Pre-warming before pouring in hot liquids is always a good idea for safety.
😂😂 when the other short came I immediately took all out of my cabinet to inspect. All inherited pieces probably dating from the 60s/70s are PYREX, but the 9x11 that I purchased in the 90s is pyrex. Never had a problem and is still going strong. I really wonder if there wasnt an unpublished change in material or workmanship? I definitely wont buy any new pieces. Thanks for the info!!
Why should they? It's glass and glass breaks into very little pieces. This is a very American wish. 😂 Attention! The coffee could be hot. Greetings from France where we know that glass could break. 😂😂😂
@lavieestduresansconfiture4939 ah yes they definitely shouldn't put warnings on glass that is SUPPOSED to be put on the stove for cooking, and people should just assume something made to be used as a cooking dish should just shatter despite its entire reason for being marketed as such
Take a photo??!! When a pyrex measuring cup exploded in my hand, it blew up like a bomb. All that was left was slivers of glass the size of fairy sewing needles covering the kitchen, the dining room, the floors, and the pantry, laundry room and living room. It would have been like taking photos of all the needles on all the cacti for a quarter mile square in the desert. There was absolutely nothing left. Except for slivers of glass that never ever went away no matter how many times I cleaned up the devastation. I was injured. I was putting the measuring cup into the cupboard, no heat or cold. It exploded in my face. It was a horrifying experience. There was absolutely nothing left but slivers of glass. It would have taken special photographic equipment to capture even the slivers on photo. I'm sure both Anchor Hocking and pyrex know this.
@@dianasosa1301 I imagine it was pyrex because I bought it in 2004 at Walmart.. There wasn't anything left of it to check what was written on the bottom. I told other people about this and they didn't seem to believe me. I didn't know about the change in the type of glass until recently. I did see her video about the difference between the two. Thanks for letting me know anyway.
@@ellentheartist1 Yes. It was a shock. People that have heard about this problem think that it's because people go from hot to cold too quickly, but that isn't what happened to me.
Auntie Pam you're wonderful 👁💙U!💯...p.s.but you edited that take very quickly didn't want to show that amazing view😂...i get it, gotta keep us focused!😂😂😂
Love your videos! Something else I have discovered about Anchor Hocking is that if you put it in the dishwasher, the markings eventually wash off. Have never had that happen with a PYREX measuring cup.
We have the Railroad to thank for Pyrex. The signal lanterns globes would shatter in the winter. So they put folks to work on developing a globe that could withstand temperature changes. They did and cookware came next. History lesson for those interested. Love your videos Pam.
I've used my anchor hocking pie plates casseroles and other serving dishes for many years and have never had any of them shatter while using them in my oven. I also have PYREX pie plates that are good.

PYREX is safer. Voted for Pam favorite Chef. Well deserved.

I had no idea until Pam used the pyrex PYREX difference. I'll know what to look for now.
Cleaning up glass for weeks 😢
Thank god for online stores i will remember thanks to her buy PYREX not pyrex

Brands out here literally trading and profiting off of the good will built around their brand, and literally trying to destroy it
Thank You Ms. Pam!!
I've had so many anchor hocking glasses shatter. Had me thinking I was super clumsy 😂. Thanks for your review.
Never had one shatter, so yeah it is you.

She has a video talking about the difference between PYREX and pyrex. Apparently one is oven safe and the other isn't, which one was yours?

Am I right to assume then that any glassware made of borosilicate is better, regardless of the brand?
Yes that is a good assumption
Great to know--thanks!

Gosh I love your cooking shorts. I've only seen three so far randomly but you're sucha joy to watch.
If you live in Texas, HEB makes its own brand of borosilicate bakeware. Same stuff as old PYREX. I use it myself. Disclaimer: I work for HEB.

Pyrex markings also fade in dishwasher. Use the top rack for measuring cups or hand wash.

Ah hah! So helpful to know this!! Thank you!!

I quite buying Anchor Hocking because the plastic lids on their storage containers don't last nearly as long as the lids on pyrex containers.
Thanks for sharing this information with us.
