- Hello all! I hope you enjoy this long awaited video. Also, yes I did clickbait a little, originally I had 20 schools on my list, I believe in this video I have around 19. Oops :) All jokes aside though, I hope this video helps you in some way and if you have any questions about any of this process or the decisions, don't hesitate to leave them down below!

Hi!! American here in a similar boat-rejected by Oxford for English, seriously considering St. Andrews. Honestly, it sounds amazing.
I'm wondering why it was your dream school from the beginning (over Oxford, top American schools, etc.) I know you mentioned the Scottish system, which I really like as well. Any other specifics?
Thank you so much for the encouragement, by the way. This process has been insanely stressful and your advice meant a lot.
Thank you so much for the comment! Gosh I could really go on about this topic honestly, let me know if you want a video on all of my reasons or something, but here are my top reasons.
For some context, I didn’t have a dream school before I visited St Andrews. I knew I wanted the UK but I didn’t have a particular school in mind and while the ones I visited (even Oxford) were all pretty, St Andrews felt right to me in a way that is hard to explain. So that is how I got to know it, and even from half a day there I knew it was the place for me.
From there I began to investigate and I found out several factors that made it that much more attractive. First, the Scottish system is a tad more flexible than the English one, while it is still direct to degree, St Andrews is more open to working with students in case they would like to pivot their major, etc. Second, it is impressively academic on it’s own, topping a few league tables over the past few years. Third, it is very friendly to international students and that would make the process a lot easier for me.
Beyond that I have so much I love- the traditions, the town, the societies and sports, the ease of travel in Europe, I could really go on and on. I hope this helped, let me know if you have any other questions! I’m so glad my advice helped- you aren’t alone in the stress and I’m rooting for you all the way! Again, let me know if I can help in any other way :)
Thank you for explaining! I’d love to see a video on this. Maybe I’ll see you on campus next year!
My sister almost went to st. Andrew’s. She would have been at the school there at the same time as him in the early 2000’s. I’m Canadian. She ended up going to a different university
Thank you for the insight! I hope she had a great time where she did end up going!
My daughter is a rising HS sophomore and is starting to take dual credits in the fall. She will likely graduate HS with her diploma AND associates degree. Even though I went to university and have two degrees, the process is much different than it was in 1999/2000. What was your GPA? What EC’s did you have?
Congratulations on all your accomplishments and acceptance God bless you and may the favor of God be with you congratulations!
Thank you so much for the kind message and the support 🫶🏼
Do statss
I’ll be a freshman in high school next year. Any advice that got you where you are today?
I'd say having a great support system got me so far, just always know that one test or quiz isn't that serious and give yourself grace. High school isn't about being perfect it's about trying everything and trying to find yourself as well and what you are interested in. Aim high! You can do this, I'm rooting for you!
I prefer the ones where you see the screen not just theface.
Been to both Oxford and St.Andrews. St. Andrews is stunning and the school is excellent. You get the a similar collegiate type experience as Oxford, but everyone is in the same college, so to speak. Also, Scotland (while colder) >>>>> England!
Welcome to Scotland ❤❤
Thank you!!
Kinda crazy to go st Andrew’s over kings college but congrats 🎉
It was the right choice for me! Thanks for watching!
the uni experience at st andrews is better than kcl in my opinion so its not shocking to me that she picked it. plus there are so many amercians at st andrews, and so many royal family members went there. she will absolutely love it!
much better experience, London is expensive and not a student city@@user-sn2ob7ms9l

This is an emotional insight into something very personal. Be positive and supportive.
