      There are differences, they might not be in our love for Christ, as both sincere catholics and sincere orthodox love Christ... BUT there are differences in the Catholic and Orthodox dogmas! And they are significant! And the Catholic Rome is the one who changed the dogma (adding the Filioque, the papal primacy and infallibility, the purgatory, the immaculate conception etc.) and as a consequence of this heresy it ended up splitting further and further into protestants and neoprotestants and to all these denominations today that have very little in common with the original Apostolic Christian Church... which is, theologically and historically speaking, the Orthodox Church.

    As a convert to Antiochian Christian Orthodox from Protestantism I found the true teachings of Christ and his Apostles. It is totally wrong for anyone to suggest or believe that any church should change for the way of the people. People need to change for the way of the church and follow the true teachings of the Lord.

    Another intense and beautiful message of truth. It is time for all teachers of Christ's word to speak about the end of all and the soon appearance of antichrist. It is a frightening time to be alive as well as a lovely time. We can see God's prophecies coming to pass in front of our eyes every day. I wish every person in the world could hear this homily. It would wake them up and bring them closer to Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father Aldea, for this precious message. Thank you also for the beautiful countryside and the voices of the birds. I am so thankful for this message, Father. For years people have said to me, including my own son, Why can't you just leave people alone? Why can't you just accept that you have your truth and other people have their truth. Let people do what they want; it doesn't have anything to do with you!
    I have always replied, your best friend, the one who loves you the most, is the one who is willing to tell you the most truth. Any acquaintance will lie to your face, and tell you what you want to hear, but that doesn't help you in the long run. I'm not a person who goes out picketing, or walks up to people on the street asking them if they have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior. You can't nag people to Christ. But if someone asks my opinion, I will tell them the truth. If they are indulging, for instance , in a sin that is clearly forbidden in the Bible and they ask me about it, I will say, Well the Bible says that it is a sin. Now, I say it in a loving way, and I do it off to the side. I don't embarrass people in front of others, because the Bible says, if your brother is in error take him aside and talk to him. It doesn't say picket his house.
    I tried to explain to my son, if I saw a group of people talking and a car was bearing down on them ready to hit them, do I ump into the conversation, and say, "Get out of the way! You're going to be killed!" or do I say to myself, Well, they have free will. I have no right to jump into their conversation and warn them, even though it might mean their death? No, I love them enough to warn them. What they do with the warning is up to their free will, but if they ask me, I love them enough to warn them. I am not going to stand by and let them die (or lose their soul) without at least telling them what God's stand on the issue is, because many people have not actually read the Bible; they are only going by what these liberal ministers and priests are telling them, so they don't even know the actual truth. God bless you Father, and your order, and thank you for these teachings. I am disabled and practically homebound, so I never get to church. I recently spent 10 days in the hospital and couldn't arrange confession and communion there either; so without channels like yours, I would have no spiritual adviser at all.

    I couldn’t help but think of Ezekiel 34 (Irresponsible shepherds and the one true Shepherd) as I listened to MR. Pence’ statement. For most of my adult life I have wandered in and out of different Protestant churches only to find after many years that my life looked no different than anyone else’s in the world. The only differences were, I had a Christian vocabulary and I was still trying to seek God. It wasn’t until I left those churches altogether that I have been able to unlearn many of the twisted doctrines I had learned over the years. Yes they sound biblical, but they have a way of tickling our ears because they make us feel good and our Christianity costs us nothing. They allow us to join with the world with its psychology and self-involved culture.
    This is not easy to break free from and yet we are called to be in the world but not of it.
    Father Seraphim, please continue speaking the truth in the way you do. There are few voices out there that break through the veneer of what is called “the church” today. God bless you and bless Mull Monastery.

    Oh, Father, I have been a Mainline Protestant in the past, even studied theology for a year (in Protestant terms, theology is really just what smart people make up about God...), and I have made many friends in that time who have seen glimpses of the face of Christ but have not found their way into His Church. I pray that, with the Lord's help, they will find their way into His Kingdom.
    On the other hand: It is not only in the leaders of heretical churches that we find "Ferraris". The human side of Orthodoxy arouses many scandals that discourage many good people, which worries me very much...

    • @GrayWithMe
      @GrayWithMe Год назад +3

      I don’t think there is one branch of Christianity immune from sin and evil. But I don’t say that to mean that they are all the same. I do believe that orthodox Christianity is the oldest and closest to perfection. And i say this as an Episcopalian/Anglican. I pray for the person who asked this question. May they find peace and cultivate their faith. I too left a non denominational mega church for the sick display of wealth. Sending love.

    • @TerraeAnguis
      @TerraeAnguis Год назад +6

      "Woe to me if my faith depends on people"... The Church is not a social club where you choose to go depending on how much you like the people there and the club owners... The priests can have as many Ferrari as they want, they will answer to God if their wealth was a result of stealing... BUT thier individual sins should have nothing to do with our faith. And we go to church not for the priests or the people, not because there we find perfect people... we go to church (us Orthodox Christians) because that is where Christ is in His Holy Mysteries, in the Holy Liturgy! The Church is a hospital fir the sick, all of us are sick with sin. Just as you find the biggest concentration or sick people in a hospital, similarly you'll find the biggest concentration of sinners in the church :) the difference being that the sinners that go to church at least (in their majority) are aware of their sinful state and they fight with Christ's help to get better, they don't embrace their sin.
      So, don't be discouraged. The Orthodox Church, as the millenary thesaurus of the teachings and grace of Christ and His saints, is and always will be the same, regardless of the sins of people. That is what you must search for. The truth, not perfect people. None of us are and the devil is fighting the Church harder than ever.

    Dear father Seraphim, thank you so much for this teaching, becouse I do struggle with my family about these modern ideas.
    My children are raised Coptic orthodox, but they do find the teachings to strictly. So they don’t go to church and are living a secular live.
    My oldest daughter even doubt the existence of God and thinks our Lord teaching is not necessarily the only truth out there.
    You can imagine how that gives me a feeling of guild and despair, because I am so scared for her soul. I pray that somehow she will return to the truth of our Lord Jesus. And the guild I feel: Did I raise her good enough in the church,or was I too weak by not going always?
    I feel myself moving towards Jesus because I have become a Christian by marriage. I clearly feel my destiny, but I am horrified my children will lose the way.
    I do hope Christ will help her because my words do not work.

    Father Seraphim I have just discovered your channel through an interview you did with Gospel Simplicity. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for speaking God’s wisdom! I struggled with the same issue as the person whose letter you were reading from in your video. I was already attending The Greek Orthodox in Singapore because my daughter asked me to go along as she knew I was seeking. I just cannot understand that division involving the churches. I was leaning towards Roman Catholicism because I was attracted to some the sermons I heard online from American priests. However, I did a lot of homework and I finally COULD NOT AGREE with some the principles of that branch; the biggest one being that the head of the Roman Catholic Church is infallible. To me the only being that can be infallible is one God, the one Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit - all one essence. I am now a catechumen and am going through a year of catechism classes before eventually being baptized. Once again thanks a million for shining a light on the truths of God’s ways.

    Such a powerful message. I was kept away for many, many years by perceiving that the heresies were actually reflective of what Christianity was. I am so blessed that Christ lead me to His true Church, and I pray that many more come home as the lies of this current zeitgeist are revealed.

    I’m another Catholic who really appreciates your insights and loves your channel. There should not be separation in the body of Christ. I know that would be Christ’s will because it is in scripture. There is unity among Christ’s followers. The Antichrist will try to “adapt” the Church but as followers of all denominations we have to stay faithful.

    Father Seraphim, I value your videos and your experience and your thoughts (your God inspired wisdom, clearly guided by the Holy Spirit) and I yearn to hear your guidance on transgenderism. Someone extremely close to me, in my family, identifies as transgender and they have walked away from us because they say I do not love and accept them "as they are". I try to explain that I do truly love them as they are (who God created), but not what they are trying to become. And it is they themselves who do not love and accept who they actually are. This situation is the perfect example of what you describe in your video about the enemy distorting the truth, defiling Christ and trying to trick people into believing that dark is light.... that acceptance without question and without borders, and without God, is love. I am living this painful reality first hand, every day, and many people around us will be affected by it. What is a Christian to do? How do we respond to transgender people - our sons and daughters, husbands and wives, nephews and nieces, friends - who accuse us of hatefulness. My response has caused the person to even distance themselves from the faith, because it does not agree with their desires and image of themselves, and their opinions about God's love.
    God bless you, your work and your monastery. Χριστός Ανέστη

    I'm sure the viewer's letter may have been intending those TV evangelist types.
    Also beware of the new-Age movement and particularly things like the 'ramtha' entity and kryon etc

    As a Catholic, we were thought by priest's in Ireland that satan is indeed subtle. It's a slow creep.
    Just to let you know Orthodox Fr, your teachings are as beneficial to Catholics as they are to Orthodox. I get alot from the symbolic lens in orthodoxy as it is a vocabulary that's needed in a world of AI.

    powerful teaching father..thank you...we must keep praying..its hard at times..feels empty..but im reminded that even jesus asked his disip[les to keep him company and stay awake and near him while he went off to pray..he "needs" us..i know that sounds strange as how could god need anything..but it seems he is so in love with us that its true.

    Holiness, yes! This is love. Be holy as He is holy and let Him be the example of how to think and live as revealed in the written Word of God. Find a church that works toward this and not the false theologies, especially the social "justice"/humanistic/liberation theologies.

    This is one of my absolute favorites of yours, the part at 10:31 which is a notion that is central to the Orthodox Church from what I've experienced and learned and is one of the reasons why I've been shifting towards Orthodoxy heavily. As well, 13:39 is particularly powerful.
    John 12:24

    Dear Father. I'm very confused and it's leading me to despair. I was in the new age for over 20 years. I have been very influenced by Hinduism and Buddhism. About 5 years ago, I felt Jesus was calling me to him. I was very surprised. It's been an exhausting battle ever since. I'll move towards Christ, then find myself running back to Eastern practices. I feel ashamed of my doubt and inconstancy. I struggle with wondering if it's my own personal demons, the devil or a combination of both that I'm battling. I would appreciate your advice and prayers. Thank you.

    Truly, He is Risen!
    Father, bless. I’ve often felt, “how can Christ be in me? I’m such a sinner,” but today, through this video, He revealed to me; through you, that He, indeed, is. I’ve spent my life feeling forgotten by God, so this video brought such healing. Bless you and the wisdom Christ speaks through you. 🤍
    Please pray for me, the worst of all.
