RM said once in a live in which he was talking about the making process of a new album that music these days is consumed as fast food, you have a hit song and then you make another one and then another and it's all consumed so fast people don't stop to really feel and understand the music and that's why now almost no one puts real effort into it anymore, but they don't want to do that, they want to create music that will resonate with people. I think that goes a little in the line of what you said about mainstream rapppers these days because that's the trend in music. One of the appeals of bts, not only the rappers but as a group, is that they don't make music for trends but they write their own stories into their music which makes them relatable and different, they stand out because they're telling their story. They're really open with us but they never play that social media game others use, they barely post a link to their music to their almost 30M followers on Twitter and Instagram, they never get into petty fights with other artists or haters. All that goes into the music, as I said in other comment all their history is in their lyrics. If you were to go from their debut album to their last album you can see everything they've been through and how they've grown both musically and personally and that's something only real artists can do with their art in my opinion. Now into the performance honestly their energy is insane on stage. They just don't stop. If you ever watch a medley or a few clips from their concerts I can confidently say you'll be blown away by their energy. As always I love that you stop to read the lyrics and understand the context of it. I really like how you approach music and your genuine reactions and words. Thank you so much for this, can't wait for the next video. If you want to go into more rap I recommend Ddaeng (and the explanation video because it has a lot of Korean wordplay and cultural references you won't understand without explanation), Daydream by Jhope, Do you by RM and Daechwita by Agust D. If you want to go for some group songs and both hip hop and other genres I recommend Hip Hop Phile, Rain, Dope, Butterfly, Ma City (live performance, PLEASE), Silver Spoon (aka Baepsae), A supplementary story: you never walk alone, Fake Love, 134340, Anpanman, Louder than bombs and We are bulletproof pt.1, 2 and the eternal. I know it's a lot but their discography is so huge it's hard to summarize and pick just a few songs. But anyways, take your time discovering their music and them because it's a journey and a once in a lifetime experience. Stay safe and until next time 💜💜 I FORGOT ABOUT UGH! YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO UGH PLEASE another edit 😭 cypher pt.4 in my opinion is not exactly a cypher I think you'll understand why when you listen to it but it's good anyways :)
He was saying he doesn’t need Hugo(Hugo Boss the brand, because many rappers brag about their clothes and they have no skills) because he is already a Boss.
the part about the "yeah im from korea so all you bastards who try to rap in english" was less about western hip hop artists and more about rappers in korea who try to rap in english solely for international appeal/fame even when a lot of times they dont make sense or the raps arent very sophisticated. bts got a lot of hate in korea from rappers in underground and in other groups. we know now that they all felt threatened by bts because from their debut they were monsters to the industry. we call them monster rookies. there were many grown men who were afraid to rap battle RM when RM was a teenager. bts look up to western hip hop artists a lot especially the OGs. SOME armys dont go back to BTS old songs or read the lyrics and even when they do SOME armys are not educated on hip hop culture many annoyingly admit to never "liking" hip hop until bts which is disrespectful. armys who are educated in hip hop try to educate them on why thats disrespectful and goes against what bts stand for because bts have time and time again paid homage to their influences which is why they write about the fake rappers in korea who rap just to rap not because they care about hip hop or understand how deep the culture is. theres a hip hop tv show in korea called Show Me The Money and most of the rappers who go on that show are trash and put up some façade like they know how to rap or what hip hop means. im not black but i see many black armys clowning the tv show all the time and praise bts for actually caring about hip hop and educating themselves better to not hurt anyone which is way more than most of the k hip hop artists do. thats also what Suga was referring to when he said the stuff you see on tv is fake he was talking about the hip hop tv shows. he was asked to go on that show and he refused cause he knew its all people pretending to know what theyre doing. sorry for the rant people try to push so many narrative about bts how theyre fake how theyre not real rappers how theyre these innocent guys who only do bubblegum pop and act like their raps are nursery rhymes and everyone who says that are either projecting their own image onto bts or fans of "rappers" who are that way. thats why army dont like to label bts as anything but korean artists because bts love passion and respect for every type of music they make their sincerity and authenticity shows.
There's this misconception among many Armys that Korean rappers mostly look down on BTS, which is not true (I blame it on a specific introduction video). B-Free is known for having beef with practically everyone (including his Ex-CEO Paloalto, who has also stated that what he said to RM and Suga was not ok, and one of the reasons why they went separate ways) and is probably one of the most hated rappers in Korea. He does not represent the whole scene, the fact that some of the biggest names in Korean hiphop, like e.g. Tiger JK/MFBTY, Gaeko, Epik High, Changmo and Giriboy (we're talking Jay Z/Kanye/Drake level here) have collabbed with them should show you how things really are. Especially RM knows some big rappers from before he joined BTS and is respected by many. The ones looking down on them are mostly just fans who think they're hiphop experts (힙찔이/hipjjiree = hiphop losers/rap suckers, as BTS has referenced in several songs), not the rappers themselves. I watched videos of rappers performing at award shows and the ignorance in the comment section saying BTS were laughing at them or unimpressed was cringy af. One of them (Changmo) actually used to make music with RM when they were in Middle school, RM gave him a shoutout on Twitter, and Changmo gave one to BTS in a song, and he has collabbed with Suga on a song. That was why RM laughed when he came out on stage. Armys need to stop hating on Korean rappers that are not B-free, many of them are really good people and don't have any problems with BTS.
@@hpjjreec6456 tbh i trust black armys judgements better on korean rappers idk if youre black or not. but most of the people who go on show me the money are very problematic and overall cant rap at all regardless if they hate bts or not. i love mfbty epik high gaeko giriboy i know very well of the rappers/artists bts/rapline have collabed with but all the others i never hear about until i see them being dragged for doing something wrong. which is why i said that. because i know bts were not only referencing bfree and nameless haters in their lyrics the hate they were getting behind closed doors was enough for them to write multiple songs about it on their mixtapes and in group/unit songs. so i have no reason to think they ALL respect or like them. some may but i doubt its a large number they probably fake respect them like joon and yoongi talk about in respect. same thing with idols bts wouldnt refer to them in their lyrics if they didnt do something. We On and Born Singer lyrics for examples. armys arent going to just trust random artists especially now when western artists have started using them for clout so dont expect people to be welcoming. of course no one deserves hate tho that i agree with you on.
@@hpjjreec6456 They did look down on BTS for selling out and becoming idols at like the veryyy beginning, but it was clear after that they were respected
@@bangtanjoonie1202 there's a lot of korean rappers who do truly understand rap and hiphop (like the judges on show me the money), and most of the OGs that introduced the rap scene to korea are korean american/mixed half-black koreans and learned there in the first place. I would trust their judgment more than black armys because of their expertise in the art and the fact that they fully understand korean and the scene. art evolves as it spreads and k-hiphop culture doesn't need to 100% mimic the culture where hiphop originated. i've watched show me the money, and i think the judges are pretty quick to call out people who are rapping just for the aesthetic of it or without the fundamentals
@@DancingDesiGirl like i said the ogs are fine. its the people they have rapping on the show a lot i have no interest in getting into k hip hop besides the ones i already listen to.
Daegu is the city that Suga is from. He is very proud of his hometown and will often reference it in his lyrics, such as calling himself a "D" boy. Agust D, his solo name is actually Suga spelled backwards and the T and D stand for Daegu Town. I recommend you listen to Hip Hop Phile, it is a song about them honoring the people that they look up to and gain inspiration from im music. Also ddaeng is lyrically genius, but honestly to truly qppreciate it youd have to watch it with DkDktvs explantion on the song. Also Hugo is for Hugo Boss the clothing company, RM is saying he doesny need to wear Hugo Boss because he is alrdy a boss and doesnt need expensive things to show off. As millionaires now youll be surprised at how simply they live. They reference a lot of historical events, places, people, books, movies in there lyrics.
The line about kagemusha could be a reference to a Korean show (Show Me the Money) that is supposed to be a rap competition. The BTS rapline was invited to appear on it at one point and were criticized for refusing, but it's been revealed by a few people that it's actually scripted and not a real competition at all. Suga also referenced this in his first Agust D mixtape.
Also you were almost right about pronoucing SUGA as sugar, just without R😁 Suga is short for shooting guard which was Suga's position when he played basketball, so it's pronounced as 'shoo-ga'
I just wanna say that the BTS rap line has their own solo projects outside of BTS discography ( I said this bc some of the group's albums contains solo songs of the members) and I hope you check out some of them! - RM : has two mixtapes, the first one is *RM* (2015) contains 11 songs including a ft with Krizz Kaliko, and *mono* (2018) that contains 7 songs that has to be listened in an specific order (pure art btw) Also he had collab with Wale, Fall Out Boy, Warren G, Little Nas X, Honne, the korean hip hop legends Tiger JK and MFBTY, and more - Suga has also two mixtapes under the name of Agust D : *Agust D* (2016) and *D-2* (2020) with 10 songs each. Also he has collab songs with Halsey and Max, and has produced songs for many great artist included the ones that made him want to become a rapper, the korean hip hop legends Epik High. - J-Hope has one mixtape: *Hope World* (2018) and has collaborated with Becky G in a remake of the song *Chicken noodle soup* (2019) Also, since he is the Main Dancer of BTS he has videos of freestyle dancing under de name of *Hope on the street*
Their writing is extremely complex not only for the language and cultural barrier but for the overall contex of the song itself (references). But i seriously appreciate the way you are trying and putting effort to break down this lyrics thats amazing!!! Thank you for this!!!
BTS rapline are at the top of the industry because they are serious lyricists, composers, producers, etc etc etc. Lol. They also have intensely different flows, all 3. RM is known as a genius with word play. Hobi is master of flow changes. Suga aka Agust D (his solo alter ego), is a savage genius. I would love to request Outro: Tear live. It shows a more romantic side of Rapline. They are actually speaking about the pain of considering disbanding, because things in 2018 were very hard for them as their US fame blew up and South Korea wasn't quick to see this as an actual accomplishment like it is today. They were mocked in the industry for "selling out" and even said they weren't representing their culture. As we know now, they did NOT disband and now they're literally kings in SK AND worldwide. But. It's def a beautiful, intense song.
They are insane live. Their energy is like nothing else. Crazy, always 200% given. When it comes to their lyricism, some tracks are really hard to decipher because their lyrics are very intricate ( particularly RM’s) but also laden with cultural references ( Korean) and real life events that did happen to them, that no Armies will have difficulties to follow and understand. “ Daeng” for instance sounds like a very “simple” track but when you listen to Koreans explanation of lyrics you get mind blown - recommended to check that one out. Also, when it comes to haters, you have no clue how passionately they are still hated both in and outside of Korea. Those guys have been dragged through mud for years to no end. The fact they are still here, strong and kicking is close to miracle.
My favorite part of this performance is surprisingly when RM said “So many haters, but no problem I kill” while covering his eyes. That’s one big middle finger and I LOVE IT. 💜
Definitely check out Sugas (August S) mixed tapes. Daechwita, as suggested by ARMY is like watching a film. Our Suga is a master at clap back but there’s a reason for that. If you watch XCelest videos about what BTS went through to get to this point, it’s jaw dropping. They practically clawed their way up to the top. People sometimes think ARMY can be too much when it comes to defending this group but there’s a reason why the fandom is so protective. This Cypher is such a gem. I never really listened nor appreciated rap until they got me listening to it. These 3 guys are an amazing rap line. They tend to be the members most heavily involved in writing for their group. Suga managed to put out his latest mixed tape D2 during quarantine and dropped it for free for his fans. Check it out on Spotify. ;-)
BTS has scores their 2nd #1 hit. BTS is at #1 and #2 on BB100!!!!! OMGGGGGG!!!!!!! Savage Love BTS Remix & Dynamite. What a great history made on Jimin's birthday!
That's why BTS is so special. We, ARMY, their fans as majority love them for their music and lyricism ^_^ BTS rapline is THE BEST (truly objectively) in the whole Kpop scene and among lots of underground rappers. They're the best as rappers, lyricist and producers 😊
I love how you pay attention to the lyrics.. They go hard and their energy is wild every time they perform live, its incredible to witness them. "Hiphop with their keyboard" is mot likely a reference to "keyboard warriors" which is used to talk about online haters who use their anonymity as an excuse to say things with zero accountability.
I will keep saying that I really like your reactions, I can't wait for more BTS. Actually my fav is Cypher 4. Like some people already said the cypher medley isn't on YT but it's on FB. Also please check out Ddaeng and the explanation video.
BTS are some of the best lyricists in the game. RM is a master poet on the pen and really takes pride in the words....not just how the flow but what they mean. After you finish Pt.4 you should react to the Cypher Medley LIVE. It's fire!
just wanted to say I really enjoy your reactions, you are genuine and honest. It's such a shame that the cyphers medley is not on yt anymore :( after the cyphers I recommend to watch Ddaeng Outro: Tear UGH RM feat Wale "Change" it is a masterpiece Agust D's mixtapes RM'S "Joke", "Do you"
“I don’t need HUGO I’m already a BOSS” is a reference to the HUGO BOSS clothing brand that was heavily popular in the 90’s. Please check out RM’s songs “JOKE and DOPE” once you are finished with the cyphers.
I didn't really seen anyone mention it, so I'll just say it instead. The album (Dark & Wild), where Cypher: Killer belongs, actually came out in 2014, right after BTS participated in American Hustle Life, a reality show supposed to teach the members about HipHop culture, since they all, mostly the rappers, love the culture. BTW, Suga actually stands for Shooting Guard, which was his position in his school basketball team. It's actually pronounced like sugar but without the r [Shoo-Ga (슈가)]
Great reaction ! I suggest you check "OUTRO: TEAR" (live performance) their energy is insane, you can really feel their pain .. it is a song that was made when they thought to separate
Really appreciate you checking the doolset lyrics. You are one of a kind. One of the MANY reasons why BTS have this massive fandom because of their sincerity in their lyrics. Much love! Subscribed :)
The Givenchy and Hugo Boss lines always get me. These are easy to understand, English glimpses into how RM's rap includes a lot of word smithy(if that's a word). Givenchy had a star logo and advertised with a tagline "be a star" for a period of time. So RM says, "don't need Givenchy, I'm already a star". Similarly the play on the Hugo Boss brand name "don't need Hugo, already a boss". And all this word play is a dig at other artists who brag about brand name clothes etc. BTS came from very humble beginnings. I heard that they even had to print their own coordinated clothing for their first performance instead of buying big name brands like LV. And they were ridiculed for their lack of branded stage clothes back when they debuted. So I think this was his come back at those haters. I'm a 34 y/o and have been a BTS stan for little over a year now. Their message of positivity is what brought me to them first. The more you dig, the more you discover and love these men.
BTS Rap Line are Asassins Geniusses!!! i miss this tracks like crazy. But u know now they dont even need to dragg haters anymore bcs theyre so evidently high ANOTHER LEVEL🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for wanting to set a good example for your son... We certainly need more fathers like that today. 👏👏👏 Cypher 4 is my favorite!! Looking forward to it!
Love your reaction to cyphers 😍 your insights are very interesting Hope you'll react to cypher medley live (it's one verse from pt 1 2 3 and whole pt 4). That performance has so much energy, even through the screen. It's not on youtube though but on dailymotion P.s. givenchy and hugo boss are just luxurious fashion brands, like gucci
Honestly i am glad there are ppl like you who really try to understand and analyse their lyrics wich often happen to have diverse meanings from different point of views. And your words reminded me of RM when he said that ppl dont care anymore abt lyrics, so sh*tty songs are most likely to be loved than the ones with deep meaning.
i think you would really enjoy the rappers' solo mixtapes -from rm: RM (2015) i especially love the tracks Life, and Joke (it has an mv and it's just him flexing his insane flows) mono. (2018) this entire 'playlist' heals my soul. i recommend Moonchild and Forever Rain -from suga(aka Agust D): Agust D (2016), i recommend The Last and Agust D D-2 (2020), i recommend Daechwita and Strange (which features rm) -from j-hope Hope world(2018), i recommend Daydream and Base Line Someone once said "rm analyses the world, suga criticizes the world and j-hope visualizes the world" and i think this statement, although being an over-generalization of their complex works, captures their individual visions pretty well! I would love to hear your critique on their full discography sooner or later!
I'm really enjoying ur journey down the BTS Rabbit Hole!! Ty for having such an open mind & loving ALL types of music. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned yet, but some of the more personal videos like BTS hardships & crash courses will give u more of an idea of their backgrounds & ALL they had to endure before they made it to the top!! Out of ALL the struggle & hate, u are going to come to learn that they are still very compassionate humble human beings who never forget where they come from & keep themselves grounded!! I'm excited for ur journey
15:03 Actually, these lines are a play on words: Oh Shhh… play the beat *backwards* You’re a *sewer* and I’m *savory* In korean: *ha-soo-goo* -> sewer *goo-soo-ha* -> savory Catch the wordplay? Basically RM is saying that he is the complete opposite of the kind of rappers he's talking about in the song
Ah yes the magic of BTS live. You should check out their song Bepsae. Its vocal line and rap line. Lots of people enjoy the choreography for that song but the lyrics are actually quite deep
Why is no one in the comment recommending "hip hop phile", it´s a song mostly by the rapline in which they rap about what hip hop means to them. Once you hear that you just know they respect the culture and are educated enough, not just some dudes trying to call themselves rappers. Also Taehyung recently said in a show "in the soop" that Namjoon (RM) made them listen to a bunch of songs when they were first starting because they were heavy influenced by hiphop so I am very grateful he (as the leader) made sure all the members aknowledge the culture. There´s also a clip from a conference when they did Map of the Soul: Persona and the interviewer asked about what hip hop meant and Namjoon´s response was very accurate saying that is made of not just one thing and went ahead and explained.
So excited to have come across your video! I've never seen any reactor taking this much time and effort to understand the lyrics. You will be amazed to learn that BTS' songs carry such deep meanings, cover philosophical concepts and discuss social issues. BTW cypher lyrics may not have fluency in terms of story telling bc many lyrics are word plays and puns in Korean language and based on korean old sayings. The rappers are geniuses in that way. Anyway, I will be coming back to your channel with joy for more BTS discovery!
In korean a boys call older boys "hyung" you might see this a lot in their lyrics it basically mean brother, even the younger members of bts call the elder members hyung and younger females call elder boys oppa. A younger girl calls another elder girl "Unnie" (the one used in the lyrics) and yonger boys call elder girls "noona" so basically jhope used unnie instead of noona and the reason why was explained by doolset just broke this cuz it might be helpful in the future! Loved the reaction also Cypher 3 and Dark and wild (the album which has Cypher 3) is actually from 2014!
I don’t know if someone commented this already, but I think the part where Rm talks about ‘the kids whose skills are on strike’ is about is about the haters that talk about them behind their back, but then have no skills to make a comeback at them. They protest Rm’s rap but then can’t show anything for themselves (their own skill then protests them). Idk this made sense 😅
part 4 is actually my favorite, i think it's the best out of all 4 lol i got so shocked when u said ppl werent talking about 4 that much as 2 and 3 but see for yourselff part 4 is lit af
I highly suggest you to listen to Hip Hop Phile ( or Hip Hop Lovers), through this track they pay tribute to rap and hip hop in general. Each rapline member tell his story regarding Hip Hop, how they met hip hop, how they feel about it and how it has impacted and changed their work and their life. It’s a big love letter to hip hop. You should also check « Born singer » the live version, It’s a remake of J. Cole « Born Sinner ». You might enjoy these two.
Givenchy and Hugo Boss are both famous name brands. Asians in general are very much into name brands. Also their words rhyme in Korean but not when you translate into English also inside meanings can be very different or not quite the same when translating into other languages.
I think you should also react to hiphop lover where they are paying tribute to their inspirations in hiphop! Its a lovely song💜 I love ur reactions soo much!
I’m loving this series! I love how detailed your getting into them. I suggest that once you finish cypher part 4 that you watch ‘Cypher Medley 2017’ live performance. It’s one of my favourites and the boys have full on swag mode on it too. I also recommend ‘This is BTS: An introduction to BTS part 1 by XCeleste’ to get to know the group as a whole more. It’ll make you appreciate them more. Also, even tho this is an outdated and stereotypical video of BTS, I’d recommend ‘Who is BTS: The Seven Members of Bangtan’ to know them individually. Like I said, don’t take this at face value. There’s not a lot of info on the members here and it is outdated but it’s good for newbies like yourself to put name to face and then start to learn more about them from other videos. Can’t wait for your other BTS reactions :)
The lyric is actually “Kids whose abilities that are ON strike (meaning they have no abilities) protest behind my back” meaning ppl who doesnt evn have talent of rap talk smack abt them. BTS was dissed by a certain idol rapper theyre refering to this! They did change the lyrics of the “girls cheating” line becs of controversies. RM apologized in an interview and said in his live that he realizes his ignorance abt stuff like this, so he studies social phenomenon now and lets women studies proffessor crosscheck their lyrics before releasing it.
Hey! I enjoy watching your reactions to BTS, and the appreciation you show to their lyrics by being interested in the meaning. I think you might like Ddaeng from BTS's rapline.
you should check out hip hop lover by them! they talk about their fav hip hop artists and how they influenced/inspired their work. thx for reaction!! ❤️
I love that you're going so deep to understand what they're saying! Because they put in so much effort into writing these lyrics, I always feel like I should appreciate it too... It's not just mindless music that is coming out now a days... Not that mindless music is bad, though. Sometimes, people don't wanna think and just chill and I respect that too. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to cypher pt.4 reaction! It's one of my favourite! And I'm also looking forward to you checking out BTS' wide variety of music. These cyphers have come out of anger and there are a few more of this kind of songs but it's not the only emotion BTS offers. As you've seen before during Fallon week, they have all kinds of songs in their discography and I'm sure you'll find a lot of gems! A lot of people must be suggesting things so I won't add to that. Just wanna say I like your honest opinion and open attitude to new type of music! Thanks for the reaction!
Hobi's verse about "hiphop b@stards that try to rap in English" wasn't aimed at English speaking rappers he was talking about Korean rappers having no identity and all they do is talk sht about BTS while try to rap in English. also the "b@stards that do hip hop with their keyboards" he meant the people that talk sht about them on the internet trying to talk about their rap when they can't rap for sht. keep in mind that they mostly talk about Korean rappers that always come at them unprovoked so BTS respond with their music since they're musicians. If you're done from doing the cyphers i recommend you to check Hip Hop lover its a song that talks about the people that inspired them to do hip hop, also its amazing live and the lyrics are really good i feel like you're gonna enjoy it!!
I just watch all of your bts reaction and I love the effort you put in this I hope you really enjoy bts song ! You should check out guide to know more about their personalities and background They are amazing singer dancer rap and producer but also they have amazing personalities they are really kind funny and they have a really special relationship They are very humble and don’t take it too seriously, if you watch funny compilation you will see that they are really enjoying their jobs
so first of all, I was never much of a rap fan I must admit, but BTS brought me to liking theirs. I personally really love the rapline's song Tear, if you want to check it out. I was wondering if you'd do a whole mixtape listening party of sorts, it'd be a longer video but I'd love to see it. The three rappers have released their own mixtapes and they are all very much different from one another, in terms of style. by RM there's a mixtape called RM and one called mono. by Suga there's Agust D and D-2 mixtapes. And J-hope has one called Hope World. I think they are worth checking out (:
If you like the rapline, may I suggest "Ddaeng" followed by "Ddaeng explained by a Korean". Then you can also do "Ugh" then "Ugh explained by a Korean" Lyricism at its best.
I love your reactions so much!! I think you would enjoy RM's self titled mixtape 'RM' that he released in 2015 on soundcloud so I would really love to see you react to it after reacting to cypher pt.4
It's a good idea to , after you react to cypher 4, you check the rap lin3 song Ddaeng (there is a video on their channel BangtanTV with a bit of the production works and a live show, and also the explanation (believe me is needed) at dkdktv) and the rap line also has other really nice unit songs like Her, Tear and Ugh!
@@whatitdodave I completely understand what you are saying. But take it from another English speaker, once you are done trying to figure it out on your own, watch the recommended explanation video from a Korean perspective. You will do yourself (and the lyrical genius of Ddaeng) a disservice if you don’t. I’m here to tell you now, it’s the one song that I KNOW you won’t figure out on your own. Everyone is recommending the explanation video for a reason. In fact most ARMY I know like watching the reaction to the song and the explanation...we like seeing people’s mind blown. 😉
@@whatitdodave of course it's so much fun to disect the lyrics and come up with your own interpretation, i'm always recommending doolset in every bts song. But for this specific song i agree that so much is lost in translation and the best to break it down was dkdktv. Just to give up an example of why we say that, the word ddaeng in korean doesn't have just 1 meaning, it is used in the song in at least 11 different meanings and sometimes the same line can be interpreted in multiple ways if u change the meaning of the word ddaeng in it. I remember when they dropped that song on soundcloud out of nowhere (it was a free gift to army on bts anniversary) all the translators where freaking out not knowing how to properly translate that insane amount of wordplay without confusing non korean speaking army.
Fuck dude, welcome back. Just found you again.. I thought you got tired of reacting to anime raps and dipped lmao. You've previously reacted to 6 of my suggestions, some examples are Wooley swamp by Charlie Daniel's and reaping stone by iced earth. I was also the guy who suggested dbz raps first lol anyway I appreciate you putting more time into this. I enjoy hearing your perspective on metal/rock/rap music. I just watched your Harlequin Forest video from a few weeks ago and hearing your take on the composition was very interesting and accurate. I loved how at one point you felt like the music was now giving off a red/orange vibe and a second later the video actually changed colors from blue (which it had been the whole video) to yellow. Anyway gonna go get caught up on your other recent videos. Take care man I hope your family is doing well.
Stay safe and until next time 💜💜
I FORGOT ABOUT UGH! YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO UGH PLEASE
another edit 😭 cypher pt.4 in my opinion is not exactly a cypher I think you'll understand why when you listen to it but it's good anyways :)
YOU SAID EVERYTHING THAT NEEDS TO SAID. YES.
I think you would like Daechwita by Agust D (Suga) as a bonus the music video is fire!!!
Omg yesssss
Yeesssss
Yessss I was going to recommend it
He was saying he doesn’t need Hugo(Hugo Boss the brand, because many rappers brag about their clothes and they have no skills) because he is already a Boss.
the part about the "yeah im from korea so all you bastards who try to rap in english"
was less about western hip hop artists and more about rappers in korea who try to rap in english solely for international appeal/fame even when a lot of times they dont make sense or the raps arent very sophisticated.
bts got a lot of hate in korea from rappers in underground and in other groups. we know now that they all felt threatened by bts because from their debut they were monsters to the industry. we call them monster rookies. there were many grown men who were afraid to rap battle RM when RM was a teenager.
bts look up to western hip hop artists a lot especially the OGs.
- RM : has two mixtapes, the first one is *RM* (2015) contains 11 songs including a ft with Krizz Kaliko, and *mono* (2018) that contains 7 songs that has to be listened in an specific order (pure art btw)
Also he had collab with Wale, Fall Out Boy, Warren G, Little Nas X, Honne, the korean hip hop legends Tiger JK and MFBTY, and more
- Suga has also two mixtapes under the name of Agust D : *Agust D* (2016) and *D-2* (2020) with 10 songs each.
Also he has collab songs with Halsey and Max, and has produced songs for many great artist included the ones that made him want to become a rapper, the korean hip hop legends Epik High.
- J-Hope has one mixtape: *Hope World* (2018) and has collaborated with Becky G in a remake of the song *Chicken noodle soup* (2019)
Also, since he is the Main Dancer of BTS he has videos of freestyle dancing under de name of *Hope on the street*
Cypher Part 3 is from 2014 album Dark & Wild
And Doolsetbangtan is always the best translation of BTS lyrics. : )
Check it out on Spotify. ;-)
lol Agust D
@Anushka Paik lol😂😂
@Anushka Paik Clearly it was a typo...my apologies...
BTS has scores their 2nd #1 hit. BTS is at #1 and #2 on BB100!!!!! OMGGGGGG!!!!!!! Savage Love BTS Remix & Dynamite. What a great history made on Jimin's birthday!
I love that you actually read the lyrics. BTS is one group whose lyrics have so much meaning. Thank you! Love your reactions. 🙏🏻
That's why BTS is so special. We, ARMY, their fans as majority love them for their music and lyricism ^_^
BTS rapline is THE BEST (truly objectively) in the whole Kpop scene and among lots of underground rappers.
Love j-hope making telephone ringing sounds in RM's last verse.
It's such a shame that the cyphers medley is not on yt anymore :(
after the cyphers I recommend to watch
Ddaeng
Outro: Tear
UGH
RM feat Wale "Change" it is a masterpiece
Agust D's mixtapes
RM'S "Joke", "Do you"
I don't usually do this, but girl, Wale definitely doesn't have an h. 😂🐳
You can find it on Daily Motion
@@nevaladder lol
thx for the tip 🤣
my auto correct doesn't know that 🤦♀️🤷♀️
“I don’t need HUGO I’m already a BOSS” is a reference to the HUGO BOSS clothing brand that was heavily popular in the 90’s.
Please check out RM’s songs “JOKE and DOPE” once you are finished with the cyphers.
The song was actually released in 2014 as part of their first full length album “Dark & Wild”
Hey hey !!!! Live is THE BEST!!
So, the "rappers who try to rap in english" part was more toward rappers in Korea that do that to try to get a wider audience
I loved this watching it live with lyrics plus reading the translations :)
Love your reaction to cyphers 😍 your insights are very interesting
Hope you'll react to cypher medley live (it's one verse from pt 1 2 3 and whole pt 4). That performance has so much energy, even through the screen. It's not on youtube though but on dailymotion
P.s. givenchy and hugo boss are just luxurious fashion brands, like gucci
Honestly i am glad there are ppl like you who really try to understand and analyse their lyrics wich often happen to have diverse meanings from different point of views.
And your words reminded me of RM when he said that ppl dont care anymore abt lyrics, so sh*tty songs are most likely to be loved than the ones with deep meaning.
i think you would really enjoy the rappers' solo mixtapes
-from rm:
RM (2015) i especially love the tracks Life, and Joke (it has an mv and it's just him flexing his insane flows)
mono. (2018) this entire 'playlist' heals my soul. i recommend Moonchild and Forever Rain
-from suga(aka Agust D):
Agust D (2016), i recommend The Last and Agust D
D-2 (2020), i recommend Daechwita and Strange (which features rm)
-from j-hope
Hope world(2018), i recommend Daydream and Base Line
Someone once said "rm analyses the world, suga criticizes the world and j-hope visualizes the world" and i think this statement, although being an over-generalization of their complex works, captures their individual visions pretty well! I would love to hear your critique on their full discography sooner or later!
Thank you so much for this amazing reaction ! Really appreciate you, very excited for your next reactions!!
Greetings from Germany
THE PAUSE THEN THE "ALRIGHT" I'M ON THE FLOOR
I'm really enjoying ur journey down the BTS Rabbit Hole!! Ty for having such an open mind & loving ALL types of music. I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned yet, but some of the more personal videos like BTS hardships & crash courses will give u more of an idea of their backgrounds & ALL they had to endure before they made it to the top!! Out of ALL the struggle & hate, u are going to come to learn that they are still very compassionate humble human beings who never forget where they come from & keep themselves grounded!! I'm excited for ur journey
15:03
Actually, these lines are a play on words:
Oh Shhh… play the beat *backwards*
You’re a *sewer* and I’m *savory*
In korean:
*ha-soo-goo* -> sewer
*goo-soo-ha* -> savory
Catch the wordplay? Basically RM is saying that he is the complete opposite of the kind of rappers he's talking about in the song
Thought I said that. He is good, they are crap.
Edit. I guess not, but I understood it.
@@whatitdodave thanks for the video!
Ah yes the magic of BTS live. You should check out their song Bepsae. Its vocal line and rap line. Lots of people enjoy the choreography for that song but the lyrics are actually quite deep
Cyphers 3 and 4 are my favourite
Enjoying your in depth breakdown
It was released in 2014 in their first full album
I’m 60 years old. The reason I like the fun of RAP is because of BTS. I really hope to be there
Why is no one in the comment recommending "hip hop phile", it´s a song mostly by the rapline in which they rap about what hip hop means to them.
When you get to reacting to Ddaeng, pls add the explanation video by DKDKTV. Thanks!
I actually look forward every time you pause because I know you'll be dropping some gems.
I hope you can also watch the live for cypher pt4. 😊 thanks for the reaction
part 4 is actually my favorite, i think it's the best out of all 4 lol i got so shocked when u said ppl werent talking about 4 that much as 2 and 3 but see for yourselff part 4 is lit af
Cypher 4 will be even more amazing!🔥
I was just about to go to bed.....but sleep can waittttt 🔥🔥🔥
Also important for future wordplay: Seoul, the capital city of South Korea, is pronounced "soul". 👍🇰🇷
O!RUL8,2 is pronounced like "Oh! Are you late, too?"
You might enjoy these two.
im waiting for Part 4!! lyrics and live video pls !
Givenchy and Hugo Boss are both famous name brands. Asians in general are very much into name brands. Also their words rhyme in Korean but not when you translate into English also inside meanings can be very different or not quite the same when translating into other languages.
I love your breakdowns!!
Great reaction! Can't wait to see you react to ugh and ddaeng sometime in the future, also the members solo mixtapes. :)))
Clap it up Dan:I can tell you the time please
Givenchy and Hugo Boss both luxury brands.. but givenchy has a clothing line “Givenchy Star” so RM usage of the words star and boss are not random.
Tear and ugh rapline is a great too and Agust D mixtape 👍 I think you loved.
You said it will smith voice too. 'Baby I'm about to send you to Hong kong'
Great reaction!!
If you haven't heard it yet, Cypher 4 is definitely my favorite!
Please react to BTS cypher medley live performance, that's lit 🔥
yooo you really should listed yo hip hop phile where they pay respect for the hip hop community and also rappers who inspired them 😍
Young recluse merciful energy please!!!
I just watch all of your bts reaction and I love the effort you put in this I hope you really enjoy bts song !
You should check out guide to know more about their personalities and background
They are amazing singer dancer rap and producer but also they have amazing personalities they are really kind funny and they have a really special relationship
They are very humble and don’t take it too seriously, if you watch funny compilation you will see that they are really enjoying their jobs
you dont need your airplane mode, basically means loser you dont even travel 😁
Just really quick- Korean food is darn good.
so first of all, I was never much of a rap fan I must admit, but BTS brought me to liking theirs.
Then you can also do "Ugh" then "Ugh explained by a Korean"
Lyricism at its best.
I love your reactions so much!! I think you would enjoy RM's self titled mixtape 'RM' that he released in 2015 on soundcloud so I would really love to see you react to it after reacting to cypher pt.4
I mean re @5:50 look at them now blocking all new releases on American Billboard chart this year which is normally dominated by hip hop songs 💀
Thank u for your reaction. Please react BTS Not today live performance @ love yourself love myself concert Osaka.
Part 4 is more refined, the other ones are more tough
i love this reaction, its great. i think you would really like hip hope phile by bts (or hip hop lover)
Give a look at bts hip hop lover and uhg! The rappers mixtapes are also sooooo good~ I will be waiting for your future reactions 💜 really thank you!
Please react to BTS Ddaeng but follow up with Ddaeng Explained by a Korean by DKDKTV to truly appreciate the wordplay and RM’s genius writing.
In fact, watch the Explained video instead of going through The Doolset lyrics. It’s so worth it.
I don’t want everything handed to me. I want to try to understand some things on my own. That’s half the fun.
Pls react to my favourite 'Outro : Tear' live performance......its lit 💥💜

Has anyone recommended you watch Daechwita from AgustD? (SUGA from BTS) ... there is an official video with lyrics!
You Should Listen to Hip Hop Lover- BTS
doolset is a great translater but sometimes i get frustrated at the lines that she doesn't explain lol
