  • Greetings!
This week I am back doing a special miniature for a subscriber and good friend, Rachael Kasper. She was having issues trying to figure out how to create a pocket door for her 1/12 scale dollhouse. So, I gladly decided to try and help her out.
Though the measurements she gave me are different than what I have created, the concept should still apply. I was really limited on foam core board (which is the material that she was using). But … well … you’ll see!
Also, in this video, I am introducing a new helper of mine. You’ll see!
Let me know what you think in the comments below.
And as always … Have a better day!

Great job. I wouldn't have thought to use a pop can. 💜

Great suggestion from Pixie with the JB weld! Foamboard can be so picky on which glue it likes lol!

Great ideas, Sean. There will always be one little thing that will go wrong. In full size, it doesn't really matter, most of the time, but in 1/12 scale every little thing will ne magnified.

Must admit, I had no idea what a pocket door was when I clicked on the video. Now I know, hahaha. As always, I'm super impressed with your inventiveness. I also really like that there is rarely a list of parts that are hard to get in these videos. This was a coke can, some rando beads, a pin, and some foam board, and you made a working roller door with it. Fantastic, love it, Sean. I also adore that you include the accidents and adjustments as well, because let's face it, when does a project ever go smoothly? Lols. Makes me feel so much better about myself and my disastrous crafting! Pixie was awesome, btw. Sassy.

Thanks I am not ready to do anything like this yet. But if I watch it now I remember where to look later. Thanks for the JB Weld tip.

I found this very interesting. I made a set of pocket doors for my Sherlock Holmes house. They were made out of wood entirely including what we might call the "runners." They worked just fine, but I like this idea of using beads. I might try it out if I ever attempt pocket doors again. I wonder if the track could be made out of wood. Will have to give that some thought. Thanks for sharing these ideas.

I'm sure there are better ways to accomplish this. I need to revisit this one and figure out a better way.
      Thank you!

I like how it turned out, you made this door pretty simple to make :)

When you started off the video with a camera oopsie, I knew this was gonna be good! Then Pixie (spelling?) made an appearance and I was glued even though your tacky glue wasn't! 🤣 And I must not forget, the night vision black and white! You out did yourself in oopsies this week! 🙊
Seriously, great job as always!! Enjoyed watching how it turned out regardless of the number of shoots it took to get there. Make it a great day!

You mentioned T-pins. How would that work? Would you still use the beads, and if so, how would they fit on the T-pin? I'm hoping that the T-pins will eliminate fabricating the roller structure. Thanks!

      Great question. Thank you!
You would put the beads on the top part of the pin. You might need to ream out the hole in the bead to make it fit though.
When I mentioned that, I didn't know how t-pins actually looked. It was just something that came to mind while making these.
      I hope that helps.
