- Crocea Mors has been a really “fun” RWBY weapon to work on. It may be a simple weapon compared to the rest of them, but that allows me to focus on other things. I have been thinking about making this one since Pyrrha’s video. I know that I wanted to show the changes the weapon has undergone along with the abilities that it has--breaking the blade was always part of the original plan. Same with using the remains of Miló and Akoúo̱, since I had already made the models, but having Cinder’s sword and Pyrrha’s headband/crown where things that I added to help with the emotional impact.
I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted to add the Disk Grenade in this video, but the fact that Jaune has a mechanism in the shield to catch the grenade sold me on it. I really like how the shield end up looking. I may be twisting the knife on people’s feelings a bit with this one, but I’m proud of the end product.

This is the most tragic weapon in RWBY. It's an ancestral blade that has served a member of the arc family in the Great War, it was reforged with Jaune's dead partner's weapons and tiara, it was responsible for the death on Penny and finally, it's nigh-indestructible blade was cut in half.
Never knew a piece of steel could be that emotional

When you watch this video you see how jaune has evolved as both a person and character through the upgrading of his weapon.

I love that went all the way to include the portable shield and even told the story the weapon went through.

I wonder what his weapon will be in Volume 9 and afterwards.I know he could repair his sword but I personally like the theory that he will end up wielding the sword of destruction in the future;maybe that will be his replacement blade
Edit: Also I want to see how him killing Penny will affect his and Ruby's relationship,considering they both share the burden of leading their teams and being the first friendship we see form back in V1
If I was left in charge to redesign Crocea Mors. I would incorporate Penny's weapon into it. Making the multiple flying swords combined to make one shield, and deconstruct when the main sword is pulled from the shield. Forming a circling motion a la Vergil's spiraling swords in Devil May Cry. One sword to command multiple flying blades, with each swing firing out a projectile blade. All blades defending the wielder in 360 degree angle revolving formation. Function based on magnetism, a reminisce of Pyrrha's Polarity semblance.
Cinder leaps into the air. Jaune does a 2-handed diagonal slash and hurls a buzz saw made with Panny's blades to Cinder, Cinder blocks it and shatters it mid air. Jaune's sword glows in bright golden aura, Jaune leaps into the air, using each Penny's blade to do an Omnislash version 6, dual wielding Crocea Mors & Penny's blade. Jaune ends up above of Cinder, calls back all Penny's blades and combines them into a reworked version of Pyrrha's spear, launches it to Cinder. Pyrrha's spear stabs into Cinder, pinning her mid-air, Jaune charges in for a finisher slash. Pyrrha's reworked spear explodes in mid air and becomes Penny's blades. Jaune lands on the ground, catches his glowing gold aura Crocea Mors which then slowly fades back to normal, Penny blades landing around him with Jaune's afterimages holding them. Facing Cinder, who is suspended mid air:
"Despite of everything. What have you left?"
"You don't understand anything. They are always with me."
Pyrrha's & Penny's ghosts can be seen standing left & right of Jaune, touching his shoulders. Cinder slowly fades into dust knowing she has been defeated.
I'm sorry. For everything Cinder has done to Jaune. I had to make sure Jaune is the one who should finish Cinder off. 😂
Cinder: "That blade was broken!"
Jaune: "It has been remade!"
This captures the essence of "every weapon is also a character" perfectly!
Jaune, the only character who gets buffed instead of nerfed long term.
And over here you can see the evolution of quirky puke boy to emotionally destroyed lad through his weapon's history.
The reason why jaune's seemingly unbreakable blade broke to cinder's swords, is because he killed an innocent soul, and that lead to his blade being impure.

This was both beautiful and scary
God that steel on steel sheathing sound. Jaune had quite the strength cleaving through that Ursa Major's neck with no training if Crocea Mors' edges constantly grind against its own sheath like that.
I actually felt the old emotions again when watching the previous episodes.
Damn it, this video did to my feels what Crocea Mors did to Penny!
Now update this by rusting the broken Crocea Mors!

When you realize Jaune's weapon would be great in Overwatch.
You know i was expecting Jaune's shield to be circular in the headin volumes and having a Captain America fighting style mixing it with a way more mastered swordplay, ngl it was pretty creative what they did with his shield but still i wanted to see a way more badass Jaune not only a "hey i got a new haircut and i'm healing machine"
I think because it was super heated, and infused with magic, and her rage, with all her strength, broke the blade.
Amazing work again, probably my favorite so far, keep it up

when i saw pyrha's weapon and crown it somehow made me cry...
His sword could’ve benefited having dust in the blade. Maybe Fire Or Electric to give the swings a bigger bite.

If jaune was the MC that sword would have the title "sword of promised victory" with "promised" coming from an Arc always keeping their world and "victory" coming from pyrrha, idk if its canon but i sometimes see goddess of victory as her title and also her last name being a translation of it

I love the redesign of the weapon, but I hate the sword shield mode. Should of had the bottom of the shield extend out more.

Hi question for you have you ever watched Mark Zhang fan made rwby trailers called the time SLVR because if you have seen them I would love to see you make 3d model of their weapons.
yes and maybe, I want to do a good amount from the show first before I start doing some fan ones.

@@princeofqrow3181 It really depends on what I’m making, but I try to get most of the models done in about a week.
If you mean the whole video, the UV mapping and texturing are a few more days. About 1-2 days on animation, depending on how complex I’m making it. At least 1 full day of rendering, this one was 3. About 1-2 days on after effects and done. Add in some days where I’m not really productive and it come to about 2-3 weeks.
Making them faster is one of the things that I’m trying to improve on. That way the algorithm doesn’t hate me.
@@sombraxyz hmm interesting 🤔 what the most difficult part you have when making these 3d project and what program you used?
@@princeofqrow3181 The programs I use are Autodesk Maya for the models and animations, Adobe substance 3D for the texturing, Arnold for the rendering and After Effect for the effects and to put it all together.
For the difficult part I would have to say is between the UV mapping or making detail engraving on the weapons. For the UV mapping is just time consuming so I get distracted with things and a bit repetitive. For the engravings is hard to find what the pattern is suppose to be or getting the right angle that shows it completely, for getting it right, its also time consuming too. I guess getting good reference images that show every angle or small details of what I'm trying to model can be a hard thing too.

I wonder if juane sword is Excalibur or like if the theory is that it actually is relic of destruction is true maybe the true form of it is the sword excalibur which both media and books has been show to have devastating power. This would make the shield sense it could be the sheathe avalon. Though that just my theory since I would love for arc to have a upgrade to his sword that resembles king Arthur.
Now that you mentioned it, the Lady of the Lake gave King Arthur the Excalibur after Caliburn (The original sword of the stone) broke in a fight. I reckon Jaune next chapter has something to do with lake or a huge body of water. 😂

While I like this sword shield combo I have to cry every time I see it used because Pyrrha’s circlet was used in its up grade, why Monty why? What good came from killing off one of the series most beloved characters for no other reason than the fact her own name said she had to die. Did you kill her voice actor off too after volume 3 Rooster Teeth well did you?
