my first fire ant experience was when I was living in a cheap rv, I was working south of vicks burg misisippi I had built a platform to put an air conditioner on the trailer had no water hookups,I was put on the night shift had no air conditioner, I removed a window and put the airconditioner through the hole , then built the plat form, as the air conditioner ran, it produced water in the form of condensate. the water ran down the support for the plat form, the fire ants followed the water trail up the support, then got in bed with me, I got bit and woke up really quick when I got bit, then wen into town, bought ant killerfound the nest and sprinkled the ant killer, which was a powder on the nest, since then when I work in the south I look around my lot find the nearest fire ants, but the same powder, sprinkle it on the nest, the sleep worry free.

@@sharongoodsell9341 my next lesson came a few weeks, later the campground was located at a place called grand gulf where there had been two confederate"forts, basically gun emplacements because I had been warned there were a few timber rattle snakes about, I wandered around for a bit in the woods then jumped up on a half rotted tree stump to have a better vantage point, some thing told me to look at my feet, the entirety of my feet was covered in a wriggling mass of reddish brown, I brushed my boots off and took perhaps the longest leap of my life, I was 51 when all this happened. I curtailed my hike and carefully made my way back to my camp site, I've stayed at that particular park and had it's not far from the grand gulf nuclear plant which I like I've had no further no run ins with the local fauna,

Pretty good background music in this movie.
I guess I should say "soundtrack", because it actually does play a role in the film.

When I was a kid took my sister with us playing in the Shasta Forest. She was 4 but Mom said we had to drag her with us so I put her on a log gave her her PB&j went to play. Next thing we knew she was screaming and so were we. She was covered with giant ants or termites we never really knew what as we've never seen anything like it. They were big black and they wanted her jelly. Of course she had it all over her hands and face because she'd been fighting the insects. Poor kid it took us pouring water on her to get them off, wiping her down crushing them doing everything we could of course dragging her off the log and swatting her all over the place getting them just it was a mess all I can say is it was horrible and if it hadn't been that there were more of us they're not just me and her but a bunch of us I don't know what would have happened. She was covered with bites and welts. My mother never let us take her into the forest again.

Not a bad little TV movie. Chuck Heston played in the original movie, "The Naked Jungle." If you want to know about ants, that's the original action picture! So original that the McGiver TV show stole some scenes from it.

GREAT action, GREAT suspence, GREAT sci-fi, GREAT acting from everyone! BUT......REALLY?? Once they knew what the problem was, and had 24 hours to evacuate the town, how about getting a few fire fighting planes filled with thousands of gallons of Dyant, and a few tankers filled with thousands more?? Saturate the whole area, end of problem......

I have lived in Mississippi and unfortunately stepped on to a small hill. They have no patience with a big footed human or anyone who bothers them. I got bit by just one. They live up to their name. The bite is like being burned. When u live there and and other states that have them. Before u let ur kids out in Mississippi u checked for toad stools and fire ant hills. The popped up overnight. My brother Phil was a deacon at his church he would go out and walk the church's playground before services to make sure it was safe for the kids.

The term Marabunta is of Caribbean origin and actually refers to some species of social wasps. It can also refer to an angry, ill-tempered woman too. Right insect order (Hymenoptera) but wrong family.

51:20 - a decent whitewater stunt sequence followed by a reference to KIPLING?! Mega shoutouts to both the stuntpeople that did that for a low-budget TV sci-fi movie, as well as the writer who drops a line from classical poetry .. in a low-budget TV sci-fi movie. Whats not to love here?
