Hi Brian, I was always an adventurous kid. In High School, I thought about running off to Cuba to join Castro and his band in the mountins. But no money and no way of getting to Cuba. Insted, I joined the US Navy. Did my tour there mostly in California. Then enrolled at the U. of Texas and planned to become a Geologist. Too much math for me. I had also spent the summers trvling around Mexico where I found my love of the Mayans. Switched over to Archeology. I got a job with an Archeologist with a Consulting company and started Grad School. I ended up becoming a Teacher and started teaching on the Texas Mexico border. Eventually ended up traveling to the Philippines and Asia. I also taught English ito Taiwanese students in Taiwan. Now I live in the Philippines and here I will stay. The real treasure of the Philippines are it's people.
Hi Brian, I am Filipino and I am watching your blogs from MD. USA. Thank you very much for promoting the Philippines. I got a good resource of news about Philippines through your blogs and I really appreciate it. Don't mind the haters Brian, and I have able to comment on your last blogs defending you because we the good Filipinos we chose the right side and we don't tolerate the ignorance and the bad sides. We love to see you admiring the Philippines and seeing you happy living in that country makes us proud to be Filipino. As long as you are respecting the culture of the country and respect the people, you will be fine there. Just always be careful and have fun. We are on your side because we defend the righteous one. Haters are just not happy and jealous of what you have so don't mind them.
Hi, Brian, I listened to you with nostalgic feelings for my country. I’ve been hustling here in NY the last 51 yrs. It’s long overdue, it’s time to go home.
Different culture, different way of life. Immerse and live the life of the society you're in. Any discomfort is entirely a personal mindset, and adjust to the rhythm in the wind.
Brian you are accurate about the hospitality of filipinos especially in the villagescand provinces . Poor people are the most welcoming and most hospitable. When you visit their home ,they feed or serve you some kind of treats or food . Im proud being a Filipino
Brian try visiting Eastwood City in Libis Quezon City....it's like u are in San Francisco U. S. A......❤ Let your haters jealous more....lol.... Filipino people love you Brian....❤
New subscriber here: Love the way you present the difference between the two countries and the things we should know about Filipino culture. One thing I like in the Philippines, it is family first whether you are part of the immediate family or you belong to the third or fourth generation, you are treated as a family member, even the closest of friends are considered family, too. The sense of community is another one I like in the Philippines. Thanks Brian, it's a good one. As if I was watching a documentary film. Cheers mate!
When I first wanted to travel to the PI was back in the early 90s. I would have not enjoyed such back then. So glad I didn’t go . Now is the time to seek such adventure. It’s beautiful and getting well developed. Still has problems, corruption, bad food, infrastructure and now getting expensive. But shoot , no other place I’ll rather be
"laugh at the haters"! That's so Filipino...in a place where we laugh and dance under a storm like an outdoor shower! OMG Brian, you're becoming a Filipino yourself! 😂😂😂
PH is heaven on earth for rich Filipinos only & not the ideal country for foreigners to settle foreigners in PH can't own properties full business ownership have very limited rights & many are deported foreigners obtain PH citizenship if born & raised in PH which is not your case Brian FYI South American countries don't have such restrictions are cheaper than USA & South Americans are also friendly accomodating & service oriented just like Filipinos
I enjoy every Blog you Post thus I follow you. Ignore those who says negative about your presence. Life is not all bed of Roses. You made a Golden choice to relocate to a 3rd or developing country. Im coming in 2 weeks hoping to find a permanent island to settle Just enjoy and be yourself.
i'm thinking about moving as I'm half Fillipino. I have more of a chance to move and I am thinking of doing it as the UK is just getting bad. Phillippines still looks like it did 10 years ago
Tell me about it came here in the 80’s thinking 10 yrs enough ,wrong now old and retired maybe im stuck here, hope soon I can goes home and rest and enjoy my few remaining days in there
I just recently came back from the Philippines visiting my girlfriend. Coming back to the States, I feel conflicted. Like this isn’t my country anymore. Even while being home, I feel a sense of guilt being here in my home state. Like I shouldn’t be here.
The number 1 reason Amerivans come to the Philoppimes is to live online. Everybpdy used to go to Hollywood. But now they find their 15 minutes in the social media capital of the world. Its more fun in the Philippines.
I have lived and traveled the world thanks to my military career and years working across the U.S. In my own country (Puerto Rico) I felt unsafe, unwelcomed, rejected, and unhappy. I was always treated as an outsider since I look more caucasian instead of Hispanic. Crime is abundant there and so I had been living in the U.S. for many years but now the affordability is non existant (even as a retired vet taking social security). When I visited the Philippines I felt more welcomed and safer than my own country and it is way more affordable than the U.S. The bonus are the beautiful women and the kindness of people who appreciate me. No one told me "Yankee Go Home" like they did in P.R. and no one told me "Go back to where you came from" like the magaheads in the U.S. The Philippines is heaven on earth as long as the weather is stable.
Time to get that motor and visit the other 7,000 plus islands, now that would be a story to tell. Great story buddy, see you at the local Jollibee near you. We literally have them in every corner. LOL
Hey, so some of your vlogs. Have you seen Cubao expo? Happening place since the 90s, a very good compound to chill and hand out with interesting people
Are you sure about that ? I lived here in the USA for over 33 years. I had experienced so much discrimination, but I have to take it. FILIPINOS received so much discrimination from all over the world.
ive had pretty much the opposite experience since i moved here 2 and a half years ago im not saying the people are not friendly they are i have trike drivers that will yell hay joe but besides them im pretty much invisible ive lived in the same gated community the whole time and other than the house on both sides of me no one trys to talk to me so to me its the same as back home. today it rained for the first time in seven months thank god its been like living in hell so hot and dry.do i have regerts about moving here yes i do ive lost half my family since ive been here a brother sister inlaw from the same brother and a brother inlaw you never able to be there when people you love passes on thats my regret sorry my story aint so rosy
Sorry to hear that. Have you tried talking or approaching both your neighbors? Probably they are very busy or are not friendly. Are they rich? Lots of rich people have high egos, or maybe they are one of those who don't like Americans or foreigners. Have you considered moving to the province? There are places that are cooler like Tagaytay, Baguio, Davao, etc plus you're close to pristine beaches and nature. I prefer country side life, lesser crowd, lesser pollution, no traffic, fresher air and cool breeze, fresher fruits and vegetables and seafood and meats. You can grow your fruits and vegs in your yard.

2.33 million Filipinos work in other countries. Fun Fact. And nobody is shouting- "Filipinos go home!"
