Yeah and you'd probably put them on the front lines because you'd want to protect your benders as much as possible since they put up the biggest fight.
It's difficult to say what the ratio of benders to non-benders is, but lets say it's half and half. The reason why most people in towns are non-benders is probably because all the benders are sent to war and/or die there.
@@Henry_Red Very minor reference/spoiler to Legend of Korra... They make it seem like non-benders far outnumber benders based on their analogy. They view benders as the 1%ers. It's probably a lot closer than 1%/99%. But I'd guess that benders are 25%-40% of the population. Also a minor spoiler for further in this show, but the Fire Nation took the benders from Sokka and Katara's tribe and they still had a pretty full tribe left over.
Azula's fire is blue can be explain by 2 aspects: - Storytelling: You will see more of this in late season 2 but let's say Azula and Zuko is like Ying and Yang, 2 sides of a coin. So her blue fire helps separate the 2 characters which also represent one of the two sides Zuko can be on - World building: Azula's fire bending can be considered as perfect. She may not be the strongest fire bender but her skill reaches the point where it becomes perfect. A blue flame in real life does not have anything else burning in it but oxygen. So the blue flame implies that Azula's fire is pure fire, absolute perfect as we can see that she is also a perfectionist, shown in the very first episode of book 2 when she's not happy that her lightning bending is ALMOST perfect

A lot of people didn’t understand why the village banished Zuko, but I heard a good analogy a while back. Imagine being in a Jewish village, who has faced the holocaust. Then, one day, a stranger comes into town and helps out. Turns out that stranger is the son of Adolf Hitler. It doesn’t matter if he cured cancer there, their mind won’t change because he’s the son of Firelord Ozai.
I think part of it was that he announced it kinda weirdly like he is proud of it i think if he tried to be remorserable while announcing it they might have less of a reaction

Azula is a sociopath, however there has to be consideration into how she was raised. Arguably she is also a victims of her parents. Ossi doesn’t care about his kids, but favors azula because like him, she is the second born. Because he was never shown favor by his own father because of being the second born, he abused Zuko as a result. He manipulated azula and turned her into the thing he always wanted. Unfortunately, she never stood a chance.
Facts, people have such a double standard for Azula it’s kinda insane. Although idk about sociopath, Ozai yes. But for Azula I’d say in book 3 there’s some direct counter evidence of her emotions that PROVES she isn’t one, she’s just a jerk cuz she has literally NEVER been taught anything different. I’d 100% say it’s not “arguably”, she IS a victim full stop. Just cause Ozai didn’t physical abuse her like he did to zuko doesn’t mean she didn’t suffer a form of abuse by him. Like I won’t spoil but all that happnes in book 3 with her PROVES how she was essential Robbed of a normal childhood and upbringing DESTROYING her. People just don’t want to admit that tho becuase unlike Zuko who people forgive much easier despite all his drama she is REALLY good at her job and god forbid a woman ever be deemed a “bitch” or she’s forever unlikeable and irredeemable. I’ll always die on this hill, the only difference between book 1 and half of 2 zuko and Azula is that Azula is GOOD at her job and Zuko has Iroh to PERSONALLY guide and teach him yet he’s STILL an ass 95% of the time who iroh helps commit crimes. @@redmdlee i get where ur coming from bro but to me if she was an airnomad who grew up in a peaceful environment and was doing that to turtle ducks you’d have credibility to that claim but context and environment MATTERS. One of my favorite theories is that Azulon actually ordered Zuko to be given to Iroh as a surrogate son, moving up the line of succession ahead of his bio father. I think it makes sense because it seems odd for a monarch to order to have the last remaining male grandson in the line of succession killed over a slight. But I do think Ozai would rather kill Zuko then let him be raised by Iroh and be ahead of him in succession. So it would mean Azula did lie, but there was a little bit of truth in it since Ozai really would have killed Zuko, which I think is Azula's sweet spot for manipulation, lies with just enough of truth in it.
My guys, the theory includes that Ozai was gonna kill Zuko because he’d never let Zuko usurp him in the order of heirs. Ursa’s actions are unchanged in this theory.

the two theories ive mostly seen are that Zuko's mother did kill the firelord (foreshadowed by the turtleduck scene) or that he died at the hands of someone else and their mother ran away so that they couldnt have another child, therefore Zuko couldnt be killed. The first one is more likely true imo. Its kinda crazy that Azula wasn't lying tho

Wow, I wasn't aware there were so many theories about Azulon's death. The supposed "dying wish" made it pretty obvious to me it was Ozai - since Azulon wouldn't name him his successor he got rid of him.
The story is so well written that you identify to some extent with every character. And, Azula is such a good villain the story is believable. Zuko mom, Ursa(means bear), foretells what is going to happen with the foreshadowing scenario of the mother turtleduck protecting her baby. Azulon, the Fire Lord, was grieving the lost of his first grandson, Lu Ten. You can tell because he describes it as Iroh lost his "beloved" son. Also, there is a reason that Iroh is off fighting and Ozai is still in the Fire Nation city. Ozai is crazy, egotistical, cruel, and every other negative trait you can think of. He is not fit to rule. His offspring are not fit to rule in the eyes of Azulon. Azula is just like her father, and Zuko is weak. So, in his anger and grieve Azulon tells Ozai to kill Zuko knowing this will tear the family apart. What he didn't count on was Ursa protecting Zuko. So, Azulon winds up dead, Ursa leaves, Ozai usurps the throne, and Zuko real journey to hell starts. These are my theories.
What happened ties into the scene with the turtleducks. Zuko's grandfather demanded that Ozai killed his firstborn, but Zuko's mother killed the firelord first because 'that's what moms do when you threaten their babies.' There are no fillerscenes in Avatar.

The show’s writing has DEFINITELY gotten better. There’s definitely a considerable shift after the first season, and especially once Toph joins the group and Zuko/Iroh go into exile, it cooks soooo much!
I never understood the problem between Toph and Katara in this episode. Toph tells Iroh that her problem is that she doesn't want others to treat her like an invalid, but Katara was asking for her help and collaboration, which is the opposite of treating her like an invalid. Toph was like "I don't need others to help me" yeah but that was not what was happening, it's the other way around!
I always love young Lee’s family, the stoic dad, and the mom. She knew Zuko wouldn’t accept food as charity. Zuko make a mess out of his “help on the barn”, janky nails all crooked everywhere. LoL.
I really couldn't tell u why, but "the chase" is my favorite single episode of the whole show. The season finales and other multipart episodes are on another level so I don't compare them to single episodes.
Please be careful reading the comments on this one lest you get spoiled on what happened with Zuko's mom. Us ATLA fans are well meaning and passionate but sometimes say a bit too much. All will be revealed in due time, let them enjoy the story how we did, please😊
Azula's flames are blue for two reasons. One, because when Azula firebends, she bends with pure hatred. Two, because the animators thought orange and blue flames would look more dyamic in fighting scenes rather than both characters having orange/red flames.
Here's something interesting. When Zuko and Iroh first were making their way together, Lee was the name Zuko chose, as he figured there were "tons of Lees". Lee is the little boy Zuko grows close to in this episode, maybe seeing himself in the boy.
The show's writing definitely got better in Book 2. I feel like once you get to the Blind Bandit episode the show really hits its stride and becomes one of the best TV shows.
4:10 Zuko did say that was how Azula feeds them so he got that from her. Doesn't mean he shouldn't have done it but it isn't fully him being bad there.
The show constantly shows parallels between Zuko and Aang. There are huge refrences between both and that they may not be so different. It is HEAVILY implied Zuko's mom murdered Azulon so Ozai could take the throne and secure her children.
Zuko Alone is a very unique episode. It is the only episode to not feature Aang, Katara, and Sokka, and the only one after her introduction to not feature Toph. And yet despite not having our main heroes it is still a very good episode, and consistently is in top 10 lists of best episodes of the series.
Zuko and Iroh are my favs of the show. but all the characters are great. I think you need the set up of season 1 to get to know this world, the characters, the situation and then season 2 just gets you straight into everything.
So the way I have seen why Azula has blue flames explain which in my opinion makes the most sense is as follows... one of the first things we learn about Azula is that not only is she a fire-bending prodigy but she is also a textbook perfectionist... with that being said in science when trying to achieve combustion there is a state called "perfect combustion" which is the state in which the mixture of fuel to oxygen is perfectly balanced which no only makes the flame turn blue but makes it burn hotter. Given what we know about Azula it would make sense that she would take the time to achieve that level of precision when it comes to fire bending
2:32 what? " Not my Feedbacks"? Bro.. We already are watching your reactions and we love it.. We comment everytime.. You got your feedbacks.. Dont worry :D
it is implied that the mom found out the grandpa told the dad to kill zuko and the dad made a deal with the mom for her to kill the grandpa in order to save zuko
there are 5 elements thrown at azula in the chase, and they are water fire air earth and Boomerang. you should have a person who read the comments who seen the show and filter out the spoilers
9:48 Ozai didn't just frown at Zuko because Zuko was obviously going to embarrass him, but his plan here is a very slyly crafted attempt at presenting himself the superior successor to the throne, especially on a re-watch of the show: Neither his kids nor his wife need to be there, but he brings Ursa because her heritage implies he's improved the royal bloodline, he brings Azula because she practically validates this and Zuko, unfortunately for Ozai, has to be there and completely throws a wrench into the manipulation scheme by insisting on showing how much of a dork he is.
My observation is, iroh knew azula would attack the weakest one. Azula was looking to attack Toph, cause she wouldn't see her attack. Iroh purposely took his eyes away from azula to spare them and take the hit.
Nah. That's huge stretch. Also, neither Azula nor Iroh would consider Toph weak considering they'd already had interactions with her proving otherwise. Iroh was just surprised to see Toph was with the Avatar.
Zuko was supposed to die but the mom found out and killed the grandpa for her husband to take his place and her be banished. It’s implied with the turtleducks a mom will always protect her babies viciously if needed
Yeah they dont explain in the show but it is in the comics that came out after the show. So yeah Ozai was order to kill Zuko as a punishment and he was going to go through with it. Ursula, Zuko mom knows that Ozai is evil and will not have a hard time Ki**ing his son, so she makes a deal with him , that she will Ki** his dad the Fire Lord and he can say that his last request was that Ozai will be the next in line to take over. Ozai agrees but she will be banished for ki**ing a Fire Lord and she can never see her children ever.
I think the implication is the mother helped kill him to protect Zuko because his father never liked him. So the deal was to help him become fire lord and Zuko was safe.
That's confirmed in season 3 and it can be deducted by the information displayed in this episode but outright putting this in the comments like that is HUGE SPOILER. I'm surprised 12 people saw no problem with that and liked your comment. I guess they have no moderators.
You can just look up online what happened to zukos mom. It’s not told in the show and fans will tell you to read the comics. The show’s writing has DEFINITELY gotten better. There’s definitely a considerable shift after the first season, and especially once Toph joins the group and Zuko/Iroh go into exile, it cooks soooo much!
Loving your guy's Avatar reactions!!
I've been watching this show for years. "Durttle" is now in my vocabulary. Thank you both
I never understood the problem between Toph and Katara in this episode. Toph tells Iroh that her problem is that she doesn't want others to treat her like an invalid, but Katara was asking for her help and collaboration, which is the opposite of treating her like an invalid. Toph was like "I don't need others to help me" yeah but that was not what was happening, it's the other way around!
This is the first time I've seen it suggested that Azula killed Azulon lol.
They are too focus on hating her without even understanding the context on which she was raised...
In real life, blue flames burn hotter than yellow flames. In Avatar world, blue flames mean a better bending of fire.
Very excited! This is one of my favorite parts of the season. Hope you and yours are doing well
Just binge watched all of your avatar reactions can't wait for more
I always love young Lee’s family, the stoic dad, and the mom. She knew Zuko wouldn’t accept food as charity. Zuko make a mess out of his “help on the barn”, janky nails all crooked everywhere. LoL.
Bet you didn't think you needed Toph having tea with Iroh in your life.
Zuko Alone is so good! If you want to know more about his mom you can read the post-series 3-Part comic called "The Search", and it's fucking awesome.
Azula's flames are blue for two reasons. One, because when Azula firebends, she bends with pure hatred. Two, because the animators thought orange and blue flames would look more dyamic in fighting scenes rather than both characters having orange/red flames.
The first reason you just made up, the second one is the only one that makes sense.
Next episode is my favourite episode and after Blind Bandit this season is straight fire!
“If there’s earth around, they’re always armed.” Most people aren’t benders, so…no. Not really.
Not a mohawk, a chicken's comb.
I really think that these episodes, especially because of how related they feel, are two of the best in the series
love your reactions, cant wait for you to upload more avatar eps
The show constantly shows parallels between Zuko and Aang. There are huge refrences between both and that they may not be so different.
It is HEAVILY implied Zuko's mom murdered Azulon so Ozai could take the throne and secure her children.
29:44 this is the first time sokka gets surprisingly close to dealing a potentially serious to deadly attack on azula
So good. it only gets better every time. Thanks for watching.
You can’t wait for the next episodes?! I can’t wait!! Thanks for your amazing work
Remember that not everybody can bend elements so there are soldiers that doesn't bend, thats why they put them in the front line to be killed
It's the tipping point where all the seeds laid in the first book start to bear fruit. And Book 3 will be a certified smorgasbord
I loved Codey quoting the Legend of Korra without even realizing it at the beginning of episode 7.
I knew yall would fall in love with the show 😂 its unavoidable
Glad you continue watching ATLA, hope everything's well! I really enjoy your videos, best wishes!
I'm just here for the incredible predictions!
Toph is an absolute savage. And it only gets better:) or worse. Depends on how you look at it 😂
Love y’all’s reaction to Avatar
2:32 what? " Not my Feedbacks"? Bro.. We already are watching your reactions and we love it.. We comment everytime.. You got your feedbacks.. Dont worry :D
it is implied that the mom found out the grandpa told the dad to kill zuko and the dad made a deal with the mom for her to kill the grandpa in order to save zuko
why are her flames blue?" "shes the prodigy" brain starts playing prodigy Fire starter
there are 5 elements thrown at azula in the chase, and they are water fire air earth and Boomerang. you should have a person who read the comments who seen the show and filter out the spoilers
Yayy! Zuko Alone is probably one of my top 5 episodes. But it’s also so hard to pick just 5 😅
9:48 Ozai didn't just frown at Zuko because Zuko was obviously going to embarrass him, but his plan here is a very slyly crafted attempt at presenting himself the superior successor to the throne, especially on a re-watch of the show:
Neither his kids nor his wife need to be there, but he brings Ursa because her heritage implies he's improved the royal bloodline, he brings Azula because she practically validates this and Zuko, unfortunately for Ozai, has to be there and completely throws a wrench into the manipulation scheme by insisting on showing how much of a dork he is.
But why doesn't Toph just set up a rock tent for everybody 🤣 they're all pitching up and she cant just do some earthbending?
My observation is, iroh knew azula would attack the weakest one. Azula was looking to attack Toph, cause she wouldn't see her attack. Iroh purposely took his eyes away from azula to spare them and take the hit.
Nah. That's huge stretch. Also, neither Azula nor Iroh would consider Toph weak considering they'd already had interactions with her proving otherwise. Iroh was just surprised to see Toph was with the Avatar.
"Why she has blue flame?"
Spanish speakers: bc that's what her name says.
Not you guys missing the glad you can’t see the stars toph🤣
11:43
The hammers boost earthbending power. He's basically using cheat codes because he's pathetic.
13:21 Why does know one ever talk about why Azula was holding Zukos knife? It always bothered me. What was she planning to do with it?
Fire Lord Ozai is voiced by Mark Hamill
Bridgette why are you wearing the same shirt as me?
Don’t make me go back to Walmart 😂😂
Just wait for season 3 its FIRE! great show
Does anyone who is subscribed to the Patreon know if they release these early on there? Or is it just the extended versions released at the same time?
@@ismailchettfour2721 things are only about a day early on Patreon currently! Hope to get further ahead eventually but hasn’t worked out so far lol
Appa is 100% the MVP of The Chase, let’s hear it for our boy!
Zuko alone one of the best episodes imo
Zuko was supposed to die but the mom found out and killed the grandpa for her husband to take his place and her be banished. It’s implied with the turtleducks a mom will always protect her babies viciously if needed
I can’t wait for Season 3
I love watching your videos
15:34 yeah but why did the mom leave? 🤔
Ozai agrees but she will be banished for ki**ing a Fire Lord and she can never see her children ever.
wym they don’t explain it in the show💀 pretty sure they explain ts in the invasion episode
My childhood crush was definitely Ty Lee, anybody else?
4 minutes??? Damn I’m early. Also! Zuko alone is potentially my favorite episode in the entire series… either Zuko Alone or The Storm
AVATAR-foaming mouth guy
It was Ozai who poisoned and killed Azulon
did yall not watch the show lol
This show just absolutely takes off in season 2 and 3. There are no more bad episodes and only like 2 meh ones.
13:43 *75 years.
Like the theory likeeeeee the theory 🤔🤯🤐🤐🤐
lol your juice box is empty
Azula might be a crazy, but she’s a bad bitch
All I’m going to say is Cody has good theories lol. Are they right or wrong…..we shall see
I think the implication is the mother helped kill him to protect Zuko because his father never liked him. So the deal was to help him become fire lord and Zuko was safe.
This is confirmed in the comics
You think?
That's confirmed in season 3 and it can be deducted by the information displayed in this episode but outright putting this in the comments like that is HUGE SPOILER. I'm surprised 12 people saw no problem with that and liked your comment. I guess they have no moderators.
@@jvictormdfor real, huge spoiler for a reveal at one of the biggest episodes of Season 3 🥴
Delete this
You can just look up online what happened to zukos mom. It’s not told in the show and fans will tell you to read the comics. If you have time you can read them but if you just want that question answered just look it up online. Not a spoiler in my opinion bc you wouldn’t have known anyway if you’re just watching the show
is it not told in the show in season 3 during the invasion tho
Azula don't always lie....
Zukos mom did what you think she did 🤷
❤❤❤❤
PLEASEEEEEEEE REACT TO THANKSGIVING PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 😩😩😩
You’ll get answers in season 3
So this episode will be all about Zuko all alone a journey to a town
Not exactly loving the Azula hate but i cant wait till you get to S3 and see everything else (Which is why im keeping my peace till then) But I love yalls reactions!
why would they not hate azula😂 you’re supposed to hate azula
