Thank you Mom's! You Brother SQ9285 videos have been a God send for me. I'm an old man who pride's himself on being able to do anything, fix anything but sewing is a brand new hobby that has me feeling a bit humbled. Lol. You have saved me hours of agrivation just getting my new machine threaded. Thank you and any new SQ9285 videos are appreciated.

Thank you!! You give the best description on how to thread this machine. I just got this machine on Sunday and have been reading the manual over and over trying to figure out threading the bobbin thread. So frustrating trying to understand the tension piece. Even some of the other creators on RUclips, didn’t describe it very well to understand. Still was gibberish listening to them. Yours was the 5th video and I am Thanking God for you!!😊🎉
I have been making quilts for 25+ years. Just so lost on this machine. I will look thru your clips and see if you already covered it. But in case you haven’t, I would be interested in a video on the different stitches and thread length.
    Thank you again ❤🎉😊

Thank you! Almost a complete newbie here (about 30 years ago a dear friend helped me sew a couple of simple projects, but unfortunately, she now lives across the country and everything she'd taught me is totally forgotten), and this video was a crystal-clear, step-by-step explanation, with great close-ups, so I really feel like I have a handle on what I need to do.

If I could have enough words with my limited English knowledge to say more than thank you I would do that. This machine had been with me for a little over a year but had difficulty of understanding how to use it. I can use the machine for ordinary sewing but as you know when we get older our body system doesn’t function as used to. I tell you, you are the best teacher for me on line or on physical class I took, not saying my previous are not good instructors. Thanks to technology I find it easer to use the automatic threading the needle with your help and with my best attention and patience. I will certainly continue to watch your instructions on sewing.
Let God bless your hands, keep you healthy to continue your good work and let him splash you teaching floor with diamond and gold. I was so happy after this class and what I comment was from my heart.

I'm so intimidated about using this machine. I've watched 4 other videos on this but your video has way more information and steps. I really like how you explain how it's supposed to work instead of just running through the guide steps. It helps me to fully understand how the machine works and hopefully it will help me recognize problems as I learn. Thank you so much!

My Brother SQ9285 sewing machine is just like the one in this video and comes with the "fast bobbin winding system". I am new to sewing and relied on the instruction book and online videos. I was under the impression that you don't thread the tiny hole on top of the bobbin if your Brother Sewing machine comes with the "fast bobbin winding system". I have never put the thread through the little hole in the bobbin to wind the bobbin thread. After I put the bobbin in the winder seat and push in to the right, I turn it clockwise for the spring to click into place. Then I manually wrap the thread around the bobbin 5-6 times in a clockwise position and trim excess thread with the built in bobbin thread cutter. I hope I am doing this right. I've not been sewing long and am learning via these types of videos. I thank you for uploading this video and look forward to learning more from you.

This was the best threading and bobbin winding video I have seen on this machine. You answered all my questions. Thank you so much.I don't sew as often as I like and now now to follow. Yesterday morning I got up, tuurned on my computer and my dislay screen was upside down. Finally got that fixed and I needed to remove a screw on something. The handal was loose so it was useless. I needed to repair old baseball uniforms for my nephew and the snaps were plastic and had a washer on them that was glued to the fabric . He is a coach and he needed these uniforms to snap or close shut. These uniforms have to last til next season when they will get new. These were hidden snaps and both sides would not come off. My machine kept knotting up and I knew I was messing up somewhere. Finally went to JoAnn's and bought fabric stick on velcro dots and placed them strategically and they seem to work great. Bought extra dots and safety pins and if that doesn't solve the problem it is his problem lol. Teenage boys should be able to attach the stick on dots if more snaps break and even a baby can use a safety pan. Well, that was more than you needed to know but I sure needed to vent. Thank you so much for this complete tutorial!

I have had this machine for three weeks and just today got the nerve to learn how to operate it. I’ve had several Singers and had to have the repairman out for a minor fix. He suggested I buy this machine if I just wanted to upgrade. I spent several hours today manual in hand attempting to learn how to thread it and wind the bobbin. It was frustrating. In my frustration, I turned to RUclips…there you were. Thank you for making such a detailed video and going slowly enough that you didn’t leave me wondering what to do next. I am definitely going to save this video until I’m more comfortable with my new toy.

I barely made it through then, but with you as my teacher now, I think I'll be okay haha. I'm working on quilts not only for friends/family, but to donate.
Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial - when you said U turn, I got it right off! :)
EDIT: I did it! Then I did a test and it looked great! Then I did a few decorative stitches that I could use my J needle on. They're beautiful! My only issue is not knowing how to end them evenly. Wish you had a video on that - hint hint LOL

I bought this Sunday. I used the machine loaded with my own thread and Bobbi n thread. I started a new project today of just sewing some cotton pieces together for a cool square. The machine does not sew properly on the straight stitch. The Bob and thread can be easily pulled out with just one yank. I have threaded threaded, threaded unthreaded threaded un threaded threaded un th threaded threaded unthreaded so many times that I’m ready to put it out on the curb. I’ve watched every video. I followed the instructions. Explicitly, I’ve been sewing for 45 years. Never had such a problem with trying to get a good straight stitch. Very frustrated. Ready to take this thing back to Walmart.

Brother are reliable, depending on how often and what you plan on making
I use an SE630 which is an embroidery/ sewing machine, you can do quite a bit but some designs can be quite time consuming
However there is a big learning curve for the embroidery software, I’m not sure if there is any required for this machine but if there is that will be your biggest headache I imagine. Otherwise it’s pretty simple once you’ve seen it done a few times!
