Hey guys! So our Outer Banks vacation rolls on. In this video, I do some surf fishing on an absolutely beautiful day in Hatteras Village. It was a multi-species catch as I caught Whiting, Spot and a Blue Runner. It was non-stop action on the surf and I hope you enjoy. As always, if you enjoyed this video, please LIKE and SUBSCRIBE!!
Looks like your having some beautiful weather down there! I couldn’t agree more about the Penn set up! I use a Penn Battle II for flounder and love it! They have great product for reasonable price’s. Great video!
First of all, this was an awesome video! I felt like I was right there fishing with you in the surf! I haven't posted it yet, but I have a nearly identical surf fishing video from up in Nags Head where the target species was Whiting. I did get enough for a great meal, but none as big as that MONSTER one you caught! WOW!!! Second, was the Blue Runner the fish you referenced previously in one of our comments about fish ID in the OBX? I'm asking because I caught my first ever Blue Runner Jack in the OBX this year (it was when we went out on Miss Hatteras, but I didn't show it in our video), and it looked totally different. To be fair, the one I caught was a full-grown adult and it was one of the larger saltwater fish I've ever caught. Googling images of younger Blue Runners, it still seems hard for me to tell. The body and fin colors of the fish you caught are similar to a Pompano, but the body shape was definitely different -- it was more elongated than a Pompano. How did your ID land on Blue Runner rather than Crevalle?
Thanks for the kind words Randy. And i have an OBX fish picture guide and im actually still torn between a blue runner and a small Jack Crevalle, the Jack seems to be more yellow in color to me. But who knows, LOL
Loved this one! Lots of great action there, bloodworms around here are $12 too it’s insane! Could be a great meal or great shark bait! Either works😂. Great video. Those whiting were very good size . Keep up the great work M&K!!!
@@MKOutdoors They say you get them on shrimp, but we got them on the strips of squid we were using for the northern kingfish (sea mullet) Try a few sand fleas. They say the bigger pompano like those, and you can't go wrong, the kingfish eat 'em up too. Added plus, they're FREE! I was gonna tell you that was a blue runner, but you already made the connection by the end of the video.
Hey John!, that's awesome you're headed down. If you're doing surf fishing, bloodworms, sand fleas, fresh cut mullet are all good baits. You should be able to get Redfish, Whiting, Bluefish. Pompano. Good luck and have an awesome trip. We already booked for next year. Keep us posted on how you do. We really appreciate you checking us out!
@@mikehodges6598 Thanks Mike! I know that now, lol. We're heading back later this summer and will definitely be using them. Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching
