So the real estate market in Austin is crazy right now. You don't have to take my word for it, I'm sure you've seen a ton of media coverage about how Austin is attracting so many people from the out of state.
Austin is such a big attraction due to it's high tech industry, it's cool progressive culture, and it's pro-business attitude.
Austin has always been a top choice of people moving from California. However, recently people from all over the country have all decided to move to Austin. Maybe its the fact that its regularly featured as one of the top cities to live in. Maybe its because of its live music scene, SXSW, and other national events that draw people to the city. Maybe it's the pro-business culture that is bringing lots of companies to move here.
In this video we'll go over some of the top reasons people are moving to Austin.

Property values are increasing at a ridiculous rate due to the demands from the new comers. Even with an homestead cap of 10%, it is still a big burden for homeowners. Native Austinites are being priced out by people like this lady.

What your video proves is that we don’t need someone promoting the reasons that someone should move here. Some would even say it’s the exact opposite of what we need.
So, tell them how terrible it is here. I mean.. the traffic alone. Y’all would hate it here. You’d love Denver tho!! lol

Born and raised Austinite over 25+ years. We were the worlds gem underneath the radar. Austin changed decades over to years too fast. The home prices are crazy, taxes, traffic, politics, etc. the culture was destroyed overnight. If you’re planning on moving to Austin - the old saying “worlds best place to live” is not true anymore. Unless you’re both engineers or corporate big wig office people both pulling in 100k+ year you’re going to be a poor slave. The big city use to be middle class friendly. HA! Not anymore.

Austin is mostly hype. It has become a terrible place to raise a family. People who think Austin is great like this lady have no clue how it was really great more than a decade ago. I don’t even care to go downtown anymore, since it has become so plastic.

My best experience in Austin was how friendly people were. You are right, you wouldn't know a millionaire. One of the things I did while there was register to drive for Lyft on weekends so that I can visit and know the various areas of Austin while making extra cash. Along the way I have picked up riders from all walks of life, from just about everywhere and was especially shocked of how friendly and humble the super rich was; from young to old, they were never snobby, flashy or indifferent. We had great conversations and I got a great tip😊😊

    Yes, to all your points.
The one thing I don’t like. Home taxes going up b/c of obviously reasons. People who were born/raised in Austin, have to move elsewhere if they can’t afford them. That’s the only negative side of it. It’s like modern segregation. 🤷 but I guess it’s just an image of what’s happening everywhere.

There's one reason that overrides every other. The Army Futures Command is based in Austin Texas. All future tech and AI developed for the US military and government, will be developed through the Army Futures Command. Austin Texas has been the number one destination of retired military intelligence officers for a couple decades already. The wave of technology companies coming to Austin is just beginning. Anyone who wants to be a player in the tech industry will have to have a presence in Austin Texas. They're are huge numbers of people whose companies have already committed to being in Austin, that just don't know it yet.

Actually, Austin's popularity has been going on for around the past 20 years. Only went into hypermide during the pandemic. The FIRST Apple expansion which was finished before the pandemic brought in around 5,000 people in addition to the 2,500 that have been here since the late 90s. This new Apple expansion will bring in another 10-12K more employees.
Well educated and generally affluent population but not with the flashy attitude image of L.A. Austinites downplay their wealth and don't seem particularly materialistic. Not many fancy cars here. Money is not on display like it is in some cities. Austinites spend money on travel, food and having experiences rather than shopping and conspicuous consumption. The Austin community is very social.

Why I’m a “millionaire” in ATX. I moved here as a kid. Got married and bought our first house in S. Austin, a 1100 sq ft 3/2 built in the 70s, in 1998 for $78k. Sold it in 2008 for $230k. Bought a 2500 sq ft 4/3 in the S. Lamar/Zilker area for $400k. Now it’s worth at least $1.5m So technically I’m a millionaire but really more of a South Austin hippy. Property taxes suck. We pay $1500/mo in property taxes which is far more than the entire mortgage payment with escrow on our first home. Oh, and Rudys BBQ HELLA SUCKS and county line is for tourists. Hey Michael, yes I like “like” a lot, it’s how I speak, maybe not ideal.
The thing is that I’m doing what I can to educate folks on something that I’m passionate about on a very large platform.
Until you’re in the same position as I am or doing something bigger than me, it’s not your place to criticize.
If you find the way that I speak that bothersome, stop watching my content.

Don’t get a big head. Austin is boring. Nothing to do. No water. No nature. And you are so annoying. Culture? There is a huge world out there. Different countries. Different states.
