    Fabulous video on how to stop early extension. I'm heading to my local big box warehouse (home Depot or Lowes) and get a 5' x 1" diameter PVC pipe to practice this drill. One question: when you're not on the pipe, i.e., your regular setup, should you be more in the arches of your feet, closer to the heels or on your heels? And, if you are more towards your heels, I presume your backside should NOT pushed back be on the heels, but more in line with your ankles and legs, which should be under your hips, is this correct? Thanks in advance for the reply. Cheers.

    Very nice Stuart. ....A request : I am a left-hander playing right handed . Unfortunately I only use my lefthand for speed. Can you give some drills for stating to get the right hand involved so I can gain some more speed. With my left I can Create 95 miles/h but would like to achieve 100-105 in total. Hope you understand my question.

    • @GoodGolfCoaching
      @GoodGolfCoaching  Год назад

      Hi Peter - I understand the question, but to change the chemistry of left hand activity over right hand activity may improve speed but fundamentally change your coordination. I would work on better coordination of your right hand first, and that could be as simple as hitting right hand chip shots and building it up to full right handed shots. This would improve your coordination and in turn have a better chance of increasing the activity of the right hand in your swing. HTH

    Great video Stuart, but I have a question.... although you stay in your spine Angle posture, on exit arn't we been taught to extend up with vertical force to maximize distance and control? Maybe I'm missing that part, hopefully you can clear this up👍

    • @GoodGolfCoaching
      @GoodGolfCoaching  Год назад +2

      Wonderful question Warren - during and post impact the leg does indeed create a vertical force up, during this vertical thrust, the energy must move from the left toe to the left heel which helps the left hip open; as this upright force is coming through the foot, straightening the leg, the handle must appose this force (pushing towards the ground) to act as a stabiliser which allows the golfer to hold their posture. If you watch my video “You need this drill” it will explain exactly what I’m referencing and the forces and their direction on the golf club handle. Hope this helps?

      @@GoodGolfCoaching thanks Stuart for your indepth answer, love your enthusiasm and passion for the game, it really comes across on your videos, but one question I forgotten to ask slso, it the dreaded hip bump? Maybe an understanding of how this move would work with the torque rotation, would make a great video, I've been struggling with this move and sequence for decades and although I'm a cat 1 player it's definitely holding me back from progressing to scratch. Thanks again Stuart.

    • @GoodGolfCoaching
      @GoodGolfCoaching  Год назад +1

      The hip bump is horse 💩- the pelvis/hip will bump across because you’re moving a club from the right side of your body to the left side, would be impossible to not have some form of bump/later motion in a downswing even with push back from the lead leg. Hip jump, jacks up your left shoulder, blocks your hip rotation and is a shankers paradise, stay well away from hip bump 😊😊

    • @solarblue72
      @solarblue72 Год назад +1

      @@GoodGolfCoaching thanks for clearing that up, it's a mind field of misinformation, when I was taught it was drilled into me to push across to the lead leg, so now unfortunately I'm a hip slider that lacks rotation,it's great to hear sound constructive advice, I'll look forward to more of your videos and good look with the channel 👍

    I feel that my early extension is usually accompanied by high left shoulder instead of a nice backwards rotating shoulder after impact. When I early extend, I produce a snap hook, for good measure. Horrible shot. Focusing on my left shoulder going backwards after impact and the right shoulder to the ball on the downswing, the early extension does not show up as much. Maybe because the upper body truly rotates vs just extending and buying time for the hands to desperately save the club face. Hope I described it accurately, thank you very much for excellent online videos!

    i never seen anyone early extend the way you did then. what im talking about is standing up through the shot which i always thought was a reaction to a choppy release (simply reacting to the forces with wrong release mechanics) or running out of room and it being a central nervous correction to a ground hit. Ill be honest ive never felt out of balance. So either we are talking about two different things or maybe i misunderstand.

    • @GoodGolfCoaching

      I can only share what people explain to me as their understanding of early extension; pelvis driving forward, chest lifting up and handle driving to the right and the golfer stuck. Sorry if it means something different to you Sir. Best wishes Stu 😊

    Alright Stuart, if you fix my goat humping, I just may hop on a plane and take you, the wife and the dog to dinner! I’ve been dealing with this sh@t for 5-7 years and golf hasn’t been fun for a long time. Tried all the drills, but have never heard it addressed through footwork. I have league tonight and won’t get any practice in but things can’t get much worse. Have looked at your grip videos and am torn since I have a crooked right arm. Not sure if you remember Tim Clark, but I have an issue with only the right arm. If I hold my arms out straight in front of me, I can’t rotate my palm to the sky. It just looks like I’m shaking hands. We’ll see how it goes. Take care.

      @@GoodGolfCoachingit was considerably better initially by just concentrating on the feet, but getting a balanced finish was still out of reach. Granted, I’ve had that Haney move and versions of it for years. Watched some more of your videos and have tried the grip along with the inside to inside feeling. The grip will make the body want to do different things for sure. Start lines were way better. One huge takeaway was the mention of a person becoming “compartmentalized” when dealing with the same fault and results. I haven’t had freedom forever in my swing. My next piece I want to sprinkle in is letting the head go. Maybe the balanced finish is somewhere around the corner. Enough of my babble.
