    Great Video. If you rush it, things will go wrong real quick! Never a truer word was spoken!

    Love the intro music I have a I have a 2016 Toyota Camry with a 2.5 L four-cylinder. I love your headlights too. They are so clean. That’s the next thing I’m doing. I just did the transmission fluid change and I just changed my engine oil today I literally just picked this car up about a month ago. I love it, that’s why I did all the stuff to it, but it’s not done yet. I have a little ways to go. I’m going to clean out my headlight housings and clean them all up and then I’m putting LED highbeams and low beams. I already have a drop in filter. K&N ❤

    Yeah, mine didn’t crack. That’s why I didn’t use that oil wrench. It bites into the plastic which gets very hot overtime. Just use a normal wrench. Next time I didn’t know they used an aftermarket with metal. I’ll have to save up for that when I do my next oil change.

    Nice to see Toyota take a simple process and complicate it. Now that is innovation (insert sarcasm).

      Frankly this is a simple process, I have been changing the oil on all my cars since I was a kid and I always ask myself why waste so much steel for spin-on filters. The only thing is that I prefer to change the oil on my truck, there's plenty of room underneath so I don't even have to lift the vehicle.

  • @bobg3221

    And I had the same issue, brother hopefully the next time I change my oil at 5000 it won’t be so stubborn to get off

    I’m going to change the oil on my Camry but I’ve already ordered an extra aluminum filter canister just in case.... I’m surprised that Toyota is starting building their own cars cheaper and cheaper, not even Hyundai would have plastic oil canisters.

    • @bkucinschi
      @bkucinschi 3 года назад +1

      There's nothing wrong with the plastic caps. It's just that as amateur mechanics people don't always have the right tools, or hold the wrench square with the assembly (hard to do it when crawling under the car on the concrete floor). By the way, I bought a Toyota Oil Filter Cap Assembly on Amazon, the part number is 15620-31060. Never damaged the plastic cap before, but I also crawl under the car.... and I'm aware I'm not the in the best position to square the wrench.

      Actually, they do I had a 2021 Hyundai Sonata 2.5 L four-cylinder that had a plastic housing for the oil filter so you’re wrong buddy and just to let you know that car was the biggest piece of shit I’ve ever bought in my entire life

    • @bobg3221
      @bobg3221 18 дней назад

      @@bkucinschi it’s not that hard to square up an oil wrench take your time give yourself enough room and you can do it. I just recently did my oil change today on my Toyota Camry and I did not have an issue. I bought the car three weeks ago. The dealership sucked. They change the oil, but they made things too tight. They do that on purpose so the shit can break, but I’m a lot more smarter than the average bear. take your time make sure everything is square and you will be OK and slowly turn to remove shit.

    • @bkucinschi
      @bkucinschi 18 дней назад

      @bobg3221 : I didn't ruin any cap so far either, plastic or otherwise. But with age I could make mistakes and I'm more comfortable with metal parts. I'm glad you're the mechanic who is sure of himself.

    Am a Toyota die-hard since 1975. Bought this car brand new at San Rafael, CA back in July 2016, have put 198,000 miles on it...not one single problem ever. Discovered a hidden feature that keeps the fuel consumption to brand new max just 3 months ago. Drives like a dream from day one. If I could find another factory new 2016 like it I would buy it again. Like I always say "If I could put a ring on this Camry I would.

    You never have to remove that bottom 3/8 square plug out of the filter housing - ever. It is simply for draining the filter housing prior to housing removal.
    Just slowly remove the housing and let the oil run out. Once it stops dripping, unscrew it all the way off ensuring it tips in the direction of your oil collection pan. After a couple of times, you get good at it.
    I have never had an issue with the housing flanges breaking and I am using a cheapy walmart removal socket.

    • @bobg3221
      @bobg3221 18 дней назад

      Yes, you have to drain the oil filter housing dude I tried that earlier and it was spilling all over the place so yeah if you want oil to drip into your eyes and splatter over your face, go ahead and do that. It’s all you buddy.

    I don't know why toyota put these plastic filters in some of their models. I got a toyota and luckily it's got that metal spin filter.

  • @twiggy0405ify
    @twiggy0405ify Год назад +1

    You failed in one step to drain the oil from the filter before you take it out that plastic tool that came with your filter to avoid the mess and stick with OEM parts way better quality than the one you used and adding oil in the filter before installing it isn’t required.

      I probably got a bad one.

    • @badcatwhite
      @badcatwhite 3 года назад

      The more expensive filter wrench's/sockets fit the housing w/less slop. They are also a little thicker I think and spread the force more. I suspect the cheap wrench is the problem.

    • @bobg3221
      @bobg3221 18 дней назад

      @@badcatwhite the cheap wrench is definitely not the problem. I bought one from Walmart today when I did my oil change for the first time on my car when I got it six dollars you tap the wrench on evenly until it fits snug square on the filter, then you take a 27 mm socket. You stick it on there and you slowly break it free, every single time you won’t ever have a problem you have to be easy with this stuff. Remember, it’s plastic it gets hot.

      The plastic parts tube is for the filter housing drain.

    • @necrofear98
      @necrofear98 3 года назад +2

      That is the oil filter housing drain tool. First, you remove the plug from the bottom of the filter housing, then you push the plastic drain tool into that drain port to drain the oil from the housing. Not everyone uses it though, but it can help keep the mess to a minimum.
