Good video. New sub. I work for Heartland. On fuel solutions. Go to macro recalculate fuel stop. Then you can fuel at a different stop based on weight of load
on this side, i don’t know if it’s the same for you guys, when we send empty calls, there’s a spot that asks for how much fuel we have. i’m assuming that’s how they base how much. not having an apu helps a bunch as well as far as tractor axle weights. you def have a lot more wiggle room. still, i wish i had one. appreciate the sub 😎😎
@freshwhiteteee Smith is a good company as long as you don't mind the East Coast. Hopefully, heartland doesn't ruin them as they every other company they have acquired.

Number one reason is enough for not working there. The truck would wake me up all night. I also loved diesel APU. Plus if a truck is idling them it’s building soot and bad for DPF and engine. Horrible
In my 25 yr career I haven't worked for that many companies, 4 I think, and I can say that there is going to be things at every company that we don't like, that's just a reality. Y'all have some really nice equipment and the area you run is good if you are from that area which is a plus, I couldn't work there because I am from Texas and don't like running the North East. When I first started, with a company called M.S. Carriers, I ran a lot of North East. It nearly gave me a mental breakdown..lol I have seriously thought about going back either regional or otr somewhat but the parking issues and the traffic, I just don't know. What are your thoughts about it? Would you quit a local gig that you've been at for 12 years to go regional or otr?
if you have it good where you’re at, i’d stay. there are zero guarantees that the next company is gonna be better than where you’re at. would i recommend smith? absolutely. i work here and im enjoying it. but switching from local gig to this kinda work can be tough. although we have a dedicated division of guys that live and run exclusively the northeast, otr drivers like me are still gonna get sent over there from time to time. i used to live in eastern pa, so it doesn’t bother me honestly, but i’m used to it. you made some great points about traffic and parking, because those are big problems running that area, especially new england.
@@freshwhiteteee thanks for the quick reply. I work for a small company, we have 20 trucks, and they're like family really. I don't know why but I'm having the feeling of moving around to something more regional. I could go regional with these folks but it's the equipment that keeps me close, it's old equipment, nice but old, and we don't have a roadside hotline to call if we break down in the middle of the night or early morning. I am really wanting to drive new equipment but I also know what comes with that. I'm pretty much an owner operator without all of the costs. I do what I want when I want. I'm home every day but if I decide to take a load going out to Houston or up to St Louis I can. I don't know, I'm just doing a lot of thinking. You keep on doing what you like man. Good jobs with good honest people are hard to find.
@Brett235 yeah of course. now THAT sounds like a good gig over there where you’re at. good honest companies that take care of their employees are getting harder to find now days. there are plenty options for texas. browse and call around is what i’d say. i’m on a 34 right now so im just hangin in the truck watching the tv messing with youtube!
anticipated that before i signed up. i was aware of what i was getting myself into. doesn’t bother me any honestly. as long as they keep their end of the deal, i’ll stay here. idc if it says taj mahal express, as long as they got miles and their checks keep clearing, that’s all i care about. it’s a business relationship, but i take pride in what i do and enjoy working for these folks
Do you get any passing speed at all ?? Some companies if you pump the peddle it will give you more speed for like a half hour or whatever they set it at ??
@@freshwhiteteee I understand but man all the drop and hooks you get to do o would love that unless you keep getting stuck with faulty equipment when you pick up a empty trailer that would get old fast
@donaldromano7390 yeah dude absolutely. the drop & hook is great but you’ll find trailers that have issues as we all know. smith does keep up with their equipment though 100%. i have a trailer right now that’s over 12 years old still in service. was just inspected and has zero issues. they’re crazy about keeping up and upgrading equipment. we already have 2025 peterbilts coming in for smith

Honestly I can go 76 mph and I can’t count how many slow trucks jump in front of me and I have to wait for the idiot to race the truck in the right lane very frustrating
yeah it’s a game all day out there on the roads. being environmentally aware that there are always gonna be faster trucks around you goes a long way. just let them pass.
That's what inexperienced truck drivers do. Both drivers are idiots. It's very dangerous and outright disrespectful to other drivers. Probably the same jerks that park at the fuel island.
I never followed fuel routing , I fueled according to what worked best with my trip planning . That'll keep you from ever paying for showers too .
Ran for them back in 2012 I had a Coronado it would run 74 mph. I remember I had to take some kinda special class to get the speed bumped up
man how times have changed. that’s awesome. i’m super jealous!!

I watch your videos to remember why I don't do OTR anymore. Thanks.
no problem
I would suggest spending those reward points as you earn them. I had over a hundred on my pilot card just disappeared.
i wonder if the points regularly disappear. i know the shower credits do if you don’t use them
@@freshwhiteteee I questioned pilot about it and they couldn't figure it out.
Michelle Beiler was my dispatcher when I worked there. If you get her, you're lucky. She's good.
currently with one of the dm’s in atlanta exclusively for smith. so far so good!

Atleast you can do 68 I’m at 65 over here where I work at and I die slowly inside everyday
LOLOL my guy you gotta elevate to the next level!!
I know but it’s hard to leave a system you know especially when you start seeing the same shippers over and over
yeah that’s true. in todays market & economy, if your good where you’re at, just stay put. it ain’t always greener on the other side
Good video... keeping it real i appreciate
absolutely. just being transparent & being real with everyone. honest drivers perspective
Can’t stand that idle system that’s why I run my truck all day probably why I gotta fill up every 2 days 😂
o DAM. are you a smith driver as well??

I prefer loves.. and going 68 sucks, if your not making money you’re wasting time.
having adjusted to the fuel stops and the speed, it’s really not that bad. it doesn’t bother me, but worth mentioning
