When you're in the opening phase of your paintings, I really wish that I could get into your head and watch what the heck is going on. I see a lot of color all over the place but I see almost no structure to any of it. Then as time goes on, all the random colors just start taking shape. It really is rather fascinating.
Just go to filters-> noise and adjust the noise from 0 to 100 by sliding to the right. (This is a practical way to see what’s happening in my head in the beginning 😁)
Even if your problems are "nothing" compared to others, they are still problems to you. They are real, your emotions are real and to you they might be really devastating to you. You are allowed your struggles, and to complain about them (in this very thoughtful way). There will always be someone that have it worse, and someone having it better, and all we can do it to work with our self in out current situation, and try to help others who need it, but it is important to acknowledge you own struggles as such
I have been doing minimal designs for a while. But this kind of art is intimidating to me. I just dont know where to start. Respect from a fellow artist!
It is not silly at all that you're feeling lonely. ❤️❤️ People around the world are watching this video and thankful for your beautiful art which is a gift to this world. Thank you ❤️❤️
many problems when compared to other problems around the world seem like "first world problems", but the effects any problem, first world or not, has on a person are real and valid. Thank you for sharing how you have been feeling. My favorite part of art is that there is always a deeper meaning behind each piece. You are not alone in your feelings of isolation, I've been missing studying and drawing in coffee shops too. I absolutely love your art, keep doing what you're doing😊
I absolutely understand what you're talking about--when I couldn't go to my coffee shop anymore to work, my whole life kind of collapsed. The loneliness and purposelessness were overwhelming, especially with my ADHD making it extremely hard to do ANYTHING without a dedicated time/space to wrangle in my brain. I lost months and months of writing to the closure, which was a responsible decision I completely respect, but it doesn't change the impact. I'm glad you shared your feelings with us ♡
Somthing that I see in society these days that is unfortunate is that we put so much emphasis on other peoples problems sometimes to the detriment of our emotional health and development. Just because someone else may have it worse does not mean that our emotions and the things that we find challenging are not real. We shouldn't prevent ourselves from feeling emotions or validating the struggles of others just because someone else has it worse. They don't get a monopoly on all the bad feelings just like someone better off doesn't have a monopoly on the good ones. Long story short thank you for sharing your story for why you painted this painting and being open and humble. Sharing how you deal with these things helps the rest of us too. I Love this channel!
I want to spend hours and hours in this coffee shop. Such a creative and lovely way to cope with not being able to go to a coffee shop/library in person!
Hi Mikko, love your painting as always. Just wanted to stop by and say: you're not alone. The whole situation this past year has been suffocating and hurting people a lot and it is definitely not a first world problem! Yes, people have it worse, but the pandemic has had such an impact on everyone around the world that no one came prepared for. It is totally understandable that you want to get out of your house, some want to go party, others want to sit in the library to paint. There are so so many people who feel just like you (including me) and we cannot do much else right now, rather than wishing we could go to coffee shops and libraries to drink coffee and paint. That being said: stay healthy, stay creative - until you can go back to your favorite coffee shop :) Much love from Germany!
Such a beautiful painting Mikko! I empathize with your feelings of loneliness, you’re not alone. Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve had to work from home with the only person I see being my husband in the evenings. Most of my days are spent alone, and feelings of isolation and loneliness have become a challenge to my own happiness. One day RUclips recommended one of your videos and I became so inspired I began digital painting. Which has provided me a form of escape and has helped me manage my own mental health. Thank you for your encouragement, you inspire me greatly! The pain from the loss of your ability to paint at your favorite library is real. You don’t have to diminish that sorrow because you believe it’s inferior to the struggles of others. The pandemic is challenging for everyone, we all have our own unique battles. Your battle is worthy of recognition and deserving of self-care. One day, hopefully not too long from now, we all be able to enjoy life again in the way we once did. You’ll be able to paint again at your library, and what a wonderful reunion that will be! In the meantime, please know how appreciative I am of you, your paintings, and these videos! I aspire to improve and eventually create something as incredible as one of your paintings. Even though they are currently far inferior to yours, I am proud of my paintings and they bring me joy. Something I don’t think I’d have learned if it wasn’t for the care and encouragement you fill these videos with. So thank you so much for that gift! You have provided me with a tool that brings me joy and a way to treat my own feelings of loneliness and isolation. Your happiness is important and worth consideration. But know that I am thankful for you! ❤️
I am watching this video in 2022 tearing up your art is amazing! Your openness to express what we are all still feeling in so many parts of the world is beautiful.
This is such a beautiful painting! I admit, I was envying you when you showed us that brief shot of all the beautiful snow and cold weather - I adore winter, and it's the middle of summer here... But that envy withered and died the moment you spoke about why you made this painting. We have been so, so lucky in Western Australia in the midst of this pandemic. It's barely touched us. Only yesterday, I was painting in the library. I may long for the snow, but I was taking the privileges I have here for granted. It's important to stop and remember how very precious those small freedoms are. I hope Finland is able to get on top of the virus soon, so you can paint in the library again.
I found your channel years ago and this just made me want to comment. You're such a lovely person! And your art just inspires my lazy bum to put effort into my art too. I often get so impatient and don't give it time, when I see myself doing this, your channel really helps me find again the joy in patiently working. Not just that, my mom enjoys watching your videos too, it's a nice family bonding time too. :D
Others having it worse doesn’t invalidate your own problems and emotions. I feel the same isolation and your art, especially this one, actually gives me the same comfort and healing. Apart from learning a lot, it’s the main reason why I love your videos and artworks
Please don’t feel silly wanting the coffee shops and libraries to open up again, it might be a first world problem but your loneliness is not. I hope things get better soon so we can all do the little things like that that make us feel better 💖 I’m sorry you’re feeling lonely 🤗
This is zing work and I love the concept behind it.. it's not a small problem if you are feeling lonely and it's very positive to talk about it and express it. 👍
Theres nothing silly about seeking comfort in these terrible times. :) This video definitely gave me a slice of comfort on a gloomy day! Your passion and joy for the things you love really jumps through. I couldn't help but simile at the purity of it all :)
I LOVE this! This is how I want to "paint" with digital media! It is incredible. You should license this as a puzzle. That is my goal....do great art and license it. Many more people would enjoy this cozy coffee shop. I would buy that puzzle!
I'm so happy every time you upload a video! It's like therapy and so relaxing....😔😔💕💕 Makes me forget every single bad thing that has happened through my day and it's kinda nice to know other people deal with anxiety through art too!!!
Thank you for a great video. Starting a project is my biggest problem so this really helped me. Please do not feel silly expressing your need and want to be around other humans. Your local library sounds lovely and I can see how you can miss that environment you find comforting. Stay safe & take care
Holy fu..ing sh...it!! These is so damn impressive😱 these colors, this light, wtf. Your the true god of light and Shadow Mikko. I watched so many videos from you, and you make this things look so easy, but there are not really that easy, it’s so hard to get better. But you’re a true gift to everyone that wants to learn drawing!! Thanks a thousand times👍
Thank you for sharing your struggles with isolation. Opening up to people about these things is a great way to find some relief and to validate those feelings within others who may be struggling. With that being said, I enjoyed my time in your coffee shop kind sir!
I recently got an iPad and I know how to draw (on paper) well that’s what i was thinking and than I saw how hard it is not knowing the program and at the moment my confidence is kinda low but seeing you do this art and explaining feels better so I hope I can do what I’m imagining one day and now you got yourself a new subscriber
Mikko - your feelings are completely valid and I myself have felt this exact same way during the pandemic, and what is art for if not for expressing ourselves through visuals, in your case painting. I love that you were able to get away from your feelings by finding joy in the process of making this whimsical place.
I hope painting the coffee shop made you feel better, and it is not silly to be lonely because of what's happening. Your paintings are always so damn pretty, thank you so much for sharing them with us ♥
There's something special that happens after a painting like this is over that certain level of rendering where it starts to feel like a place. Decisions like "what kind of menu do they have?" or "how do I decorate this industrial railing?" feels less like painting a piece and more like actually dressing up a coffee shop for customers. It was a trip worth making =)
Man, don't apologize or denigrate yourself for "first world problems" about this. Honestly, the contrast of warmth and cold, foreboding and welcome, drudgery and hope. You've boiled down the worldwide quarantines and lockdowns in a language you can speak and understand. Thank you for sharing not only the work, but your process.
You don't have to apologize for having the perspective tools visible. I watch your videos to see your process and learn from it. So if that's part of the process then I definitely would like to see it! 😁
I don't think you should ever feel bad for how you're feeling, especially in these times what may seem silly to someone might be someone else's biggest problem I hope you will be able to go back to the coffee shop soon, take care of you and keep on making gorgeous illustrations like this one :)x
Thank you for sharing so much of value. It’s absolutely beautiful. I loved your back story. Please don’t ever feel your emotions aren’t important. When I was your age I didn’t even tell people I was lonely. I admire you for your honesty. I hope things improve soon. They’re dramatically changing in the UK because of the vaccine.
I’m glad I got to paint snow when the blizzard was covering everything in snow. Usually I get a last second regrets in the spring that I didn’t paint any winter art while I still had free access to endless references outside :)
Don't apologize for your feelings. It's not right of people to judge you for feeling bad about something like loneliness especially. That's a terrible feeling regardless of why or how it happens. Someone will always have it worse than someone else just like there's always someone who has it better. You're handling it in a good way! You're painting and talking about it which is a productive way to handle stress! Please don't apologize for your perfectly understandable feelings. There's a really big difference between complaining about something that doesn't matter vs something as devastating as a global pandemic and loneliness. You're totally fine!! The piece is so lovely and honestly the story behind it's creation makes it even more so in my opinion.
This is utterly spectacular - I love everything about it, I wish it was a real place :) Also, you are fully entitled to feel how you feel. We are all human, we have a range of emotions, it isn’t healthy (IMO) to compare our problems with each other’s. Sure it helps with perspective, but it doesn’t negate your own needs. It’s great you are publicly sharing how you are feeling, it will encourage more people to do the same, which could be all it takes to set someone on a more positive path.
when you talk about you feel isolated, i really just want to hug you. Don't underestimate the anxiety that arises from isolation. You have the right to feel bad, even if they are "problems" of the first world, they are just as valid. Greetings from a new "third world" fan
I think so many of us are feeling this way and it means so much that you shared this with us. Yes, there are big things happening in the world, but that does not make your feelings any less valid or important. This painting is beautiful.
That was beautiful, both the painting and the sentiment. I miss coffee shops, my library, and museums the most. Once the world regains balance, I also look forward to being in public even while maintaining my introversion. We were meant to gather. This has been a very cruel year. Also, thanks for the bonus Vivi footage! Any bonus footage you post out and about with her on walks is also appreciated!
great painting dude and cheers for sharing your process, totally get wanting to go to that place of comfort to paint, I feel the same. keep up the good work man!
Oh its not silly at all. We all miss life, the fact that other people have trouble admitting it is sad to me. I miss travelling and i havent seen my parents in two years... Your painting made me feel nostalgic, somehow reminds me of my grandma's place many many years ago
This is so lovely. Watched it like 3X and took notes 📝😊 I am so grateful you talked about you feelings in this. Really and truly. Working alone on top of covid restrictions/limitations is hard. Necessary, but hard. Just listening to you describe feeling the same way makes it feel less lonely all the way over here in Florida :) (our government/local businesses basically ignored dangers of gathering and masks, but personally, I stayed home A LOT).
Your RUclips channel and art has helped me so much! I can’t thank you enough! You have made me more confident in my art and have given me so many tips! Every time I start to hate on my art, I come to your channel and you flood me with positivity! Your art is amazing and I’m so glad you decide to share it with the world!
Your work is amazing, and all of your and our feelings (“silly” or not) are entirely valid. It makes us all stronger and less lonely when we share them!
I really appreciate your amazing advise and perspective about art. It makes me feel more comfortable about my own art. I recently started saving all my old works just so I can go back, critique, and appreciate where I have been and where I'm going. My friend also told me to write down any good things I like about my art. This way I can see what elements I want to keep in my "art style" moving forward. And that made me think of you and the way you view art. So, thanks for being an amazing inspiration! 🙏
Yo mate, just listening to the end of the video as to why you did this piece. It isn't silly, and it is important. Hope you're feeling better and get to get out and about soon. I went through the same thing here in Australia. Its tough. Good Luck
Hey. What a great video 👍🏽 I see a lot of painting timelapses ( not to any way diminish the work of such great artists) but it’s never easy to follow techniques and learn from them. I was so surprised that here I could see how you are using different methods to create the beautiful effects. Can’t wait to try some of these tips on my amateur level 😅
Next weak im getting my first pen display monitor. I have a graphic tablet for 10 years and was already a second handed and it didnt work properly I never had the chance to work big projects and explore many new things and since i started watching your videos i got even more exciting for getting more into digital art. Also i think your content very helpful and your art and your ideas are so beautiful
OMG: I had a mind coffee in there. Woah. I love your art and I. So happy you can now pay to watch your vids with a membership. JOINED. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 thank you for all you do.
🌌🌠WOW, this painting is so beautiful! I love the neon lights. By the way, I got your whakeshark and garden in the sky prints at Christmas time and they look so pretty on my wall! 😊
I’m so happy to hear that 🐻 those are some of my favourite paintings from last year. I got so lucky with the Whale Shark 🦈 thing in the livestream that I can hardly take credit for it turning out that way. I hope I can get it in my workroom too :)
If this isn’t a masterpiece then nothing is a masterpiece
I agree. I would really love to create something like this but don't know how to even begin!
You’re too kind 💕

Really want to go into that coffee shop. You created this really nice contrast between warmth and cold. Well done!
I’m sure the rent in that space makes the prices pretty steep 🧐 I’d be nursing the same cup of latte for hours.
Warmth in cold, like snuggling in a warm blanket during winter!
I have been doing minimal designs for a while. But this kind of art is intimidating to me. I just dont know where to start.

Humans are social animals. It's completely normal and valid to feel this way ❤️

Thanks for another great video, Mikko. Hope you are soon able to return to your library!
Oh its not silly at all. We all miss life, the fact that other people have trouble admitting it is sad to me. I miss travelling and i havent seen my parents in two years... Your painting made me feel nostalgic, somehow reminds me of my grandma's place many many years ago
Amazing piece of work, so atmospheric
This painting is exactly the atmosphere I miss so much! I'm using travel photos for inspiration too, because I miss traveling. Beautiful work!
This looks absolutely mind-blowingly beautifully fantastic.
Thank you for visiting my channel 🐻💕
@@angrymikko no problem just found you yesterday and the advice is incredibly helpful not to mention the art is stunning.
litarally, breath taking
Mikko, you never seem to amaze me... Splendid work once again! Thanks for sharing. I need to make myself an Ristretto now.
This is so lovely. Watched it like 3X and took notes 📝😊
I am so grateful you talked about you feelings in this.
It sucked but honestly I think it forced me to learn to work for myself after I decided to go freelance. Getting a dog definitely helped a lot too :)
@@angrymikko dogs make life better! I'm glad you found a silver lining. Thanks again 🤗
Stunning work. Brilliant, really...
This is so good 💯 Your So talented .Your drawings definitely need more attention !!!
Thank you for this and so many of your videos.
Dude you undoubtedly deserve wayyy more followers
This is so incredible... I hope to paint a piece that is as technically challenging as it is beautiful like this piece!
Want to thank you for your content it means a lot. it has inspired me to get back into art
this is absolutely incredible
also I'm amazed by the fact that your brushes are so good woah
You are one of may favorite artists. I love your stuff. You are such a genius. I wish I could understand your techniques ❤️
I can never create as good as this in my lifetime 😃
Yo mate, just listening to the end of the video as to why you did this piece. It isn't silly, and it is important. Hope you're feeling better and get to get out and about soon. I went through the same thing here in Australia. Its tough. Good Luck
I love the ambience you’ve created. Makes me want to cozy up inside :-)
Beautiful piece.. your work always transports my mind into your paintings.. x
You are a marvelous teacher
I guess i shall subscribe. I love fantasy worlds or planets and most of your arts are literally fantasy.
OMG: I had a mind coffee in there. Woah. I love your art and I. So happy you can now pay to watch your vids with a membership. JOINED. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 thank you for all you do.
FANTASTIC work mate!

This is stunning
Just lovely and very interesting!!
I saw your other project in featured arts in procreate. you are so awesome
Keep up with the inspirational art work🥰
