#NES #Snoopy #TokyoOlympics
Fun Fact: Spike is actually one of Snoopy's seven siblings. The others are Andy, Olaf, Belle, Molly, Rover and Marble.
Sounds like the names of rejected Disney Pixar sidekicks, Olaf included.
Fun fact: ________
and Ogilvie
Wow thank you. For the first time in RUclips comments history of someone saying "fun fact", this is *actually* a fun fact. 😀👍
Gotta catch em all
That NES sprite of snoopy swingin that boot is incredibly satisfying actually
The sprite work in this is pretty good.
Me personally, I would never give my dog a stack of mini, personal pizza pies and expect him to traverse a European landscape while keeping them in tact.
Snoopy be the MPPP transport UNIT
Well some of us don’t have the option 😢
Dan & Arin playing all these games, it really feels like I'm watching an old Game Grumps episode. I want to see them play more NES games.
Me too,
-L'arc-en-ciel at Baltimore otakon when dan went
I sympathize, and I'd prefer more classic stuff myself, but you've got to think, "In today's algorithm?" You've also got to think it in Bugs Bunny's voice, because this is where we are in Lovely Fandom 2021.
This is why I fell in love with game grumps was the old game play
I second this notion, also more snes, master system and Megadrive/genesis games would be sweet.
@@shunnedowl YOU LIKE EAT CRAFF?
Spike is skinnier because he lives alone in the southwest, in the desert.
What a loser, lmao. Spike eats sand.
@@ewwpoorpeople5684 Well, Snoopy doesn't like sand. He thinks its coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere.
Spike lives in Needles, CA. Same place my gramps was born.
I thought it was the hard drug life...
Now I'm sad.
Holy shit, this game! My grandparents used to rent it for us whenever we spent the night at their place and I played it to death, but I completely forgot what it was called and could never find it again. Wow, this brings me back.
I feel you. I owned this game as a kid and my sisters and I would play it. I remember really enjoying it till one day I could no longer get it to work.
That's so sweet that they would rent it haha
This story perfectly tickled my serotonin and nostalgia
That’s always a great feeling
I never, ever figured out how to do the pole vault properly. I pulled it off ONCE by accident. Exactly once.
I'm loving these returns to NES games, please keep it up! :)
I love the standalone episodes... I don't have to keep up with everything. Just jump in or out. Good return to form
Definitely agreed!
My favourites Grumps episodes were always the one offs or random games from the shelf choices like this one.
Yes! I missed this part of Grumps from the early days!
Agreed!!!
"Don't air this!"
"Stop watching! Unsubscribe!"
"Why am I failing, I've built companies!"
- Arin Hanson 2021.
I'm so glad they are going back to what made us love them so much. And honestly it feels like they are both much happier with this too
It’s weirdly fun to watch them play old games. They are so much more unique and so muck jank to them that it makes for good comedy
@@fist-of-doom487 I agree. Arin is more fit for broken and glitchy games in the second dimension, he has some great 3d games moments but NES games are so ballbustingly hard at times that it makes for fantastic salt from Arin
Thank god the thumbnails are normal again
@@potheadassssPHA we shouldn't be so hard on them. I feel like the pandemic really put them through a loop and they were fumbling to keep viewers. I'm glad that they regained thier footing and came back strong as ever
@@wetfeathers9971 The Platoon episode is one of my all-time favorites
GAMA OVAR
I played this game so much as a kid, could never jump over the river. Now years later, I made a TAS of this game where I still can't jump over the river. HOW DO JUMP THE RIVER!
Press and hold the B button as you approach the river. Release the B button just before you get to the top. Another way to think of it is to release the B button as the pole is going from 11 o clock to 12 o clock
@@moomba_ omg I always thought it was tapping the button YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT?!
@@zerounitomega
It's like when Arin kept tapping B in Sonic Heroes during the rail parts and figuring out he has to hold it.
@@zerounitomega i mean...they literally said so in the very video you're commenting on
@@L33PL4Y Yeah weird, it's like I wrote a comment before I watched the whole thing :P
16:52 Arin: Nineteen-eighty! That's so many points for one game!
Game: STAGE POINT: 60
Game: "presents two 2p options"
Grumps: 1 player switch off? Sounds good.
Also: "We really need to understand these 2 games so we better select all games and not a single, specific"
@@tbthegr81 well that aged quickly
2-player simultaneous coop?
2-player alternative?
Nope.
1-player switch off baby!!!
They might be down to 1 controller after all of Arin's fits of rage.
It could also be controller input issues for an emulator
"I've made companies!" is very reminiscent of "We have a gaming show, that we do for a living!"
A: "Is this all supposed to be in Italy?" D: "Yeah I think so... hanging the clothes out on the washing line..."
... meanwhile Mt Vesuvius smoulders in the background.
Wait, is this Pompeii?
Not to mention, the Colosseum and Leaning Tower of Pisa. Thought they would've realized sooner with a couple very well known ruins.
Did you know "Italy" means "land with no dryers"?
Thought it was Etna tbh
@@bluelfsuma no they realized it was italy in those sections
Their question was that "is this all italy" and then followed up saying stupid shit
But not *that* stupid
Snoopy’s scum bag cousin is a phrase I thought I would never hear
I thought I would never heard it again but here we are now.
He does meth behind the Arby’s
I am LOVING these random NES game episodes. the spirit of 2014 grumps is alive and well 🙏🏽
2014 is the best GG era imo
Arin: Let’s do a grumps vs.
*Picks a single player mode.*
I'm guessing they can't play with 2 controllers on that emulator
@@VikzeLink i thought they played w an actual console?
@@nicoanon No, usually not.
If you're ever having a bad day just remember Arin has started companies and even he struggled with the pole jump mini game.
You say that like struggling with videogames is a BAD day for him
@@RandomGeekNamedBrent It definely is. Don't forget about Mario Maker. He just seems to like putting himself through this pain too.
@@phantom-pr6op I more meant it's more like a normal day, not that he enjoys it.
I defy ANYONE to perform that pole jump reliably. It's very much one of those "NES game is being an NES game" moments of mechanical design.
In Japan this game had Donald Duck. The Japanese company that made the game, Kemco, didn't have the rights for Donald Duck outside of Japan, so they secured the rights for Snoopy and just remade all the sprites so they featured Snoopy instead of Donald Duck.
So who is Donald competing against in the sack race and boat game?
@@Shoulderpads-mcgee Daisy
@@RhythmGameAddict Wait... are you telling me we didnt get to see Donald shove his girlfriend out of a boat? I need this.

Whether it's in celebration of being together again or nostalgia's sake, I love that they are back to playing older games from The Wall again.
Also, I remember this game being obnoxiously difficult back in the day, though the only minigame I can recall is the pizza stack carrying one. Which I only ever did well on _once._ And just barely. Snoop don't mess around.
All Hail The Wall of Games
30:04 that overlap of reacting to repeated failure, with Dan saying he needs Linus' blanket to smother himself, while Arin's like "....I've built COMPANIES" is something I *desperately* hope gets animated.
"I've built companies," is my new favorite Game Grumps quote 😆
Arin’s one-liners are truly the best 😂
I love how the Game Grumps Versus intro is like "whoa so action packed we're gonna see a fight" and then it immediately cuts to cute lil ol' Snoopy with that cute lil ol' music
I haven't even started to watch yet, but my brain is screaming at me already with childhood memories about how difficult the pole vault was over the river for me and my siblings. Time to see if that legacy lives on.
Loving the retro games lately!
Reminds me of when dan just joined
Yeah,it's a nice change of pace.
Fr feel that
@@shunnedowl Yes! Seeing Dan kick ass at NES games takes me back to Karate Kid and Mario 2.
I swear the music for the Pile of Pizza feels so familiar. Like it feels something out of a 90s pop song.
I know right? I feel like I should know it.
Am I weird for hearing “My Name Is” by Eminem?
Cat Stevens - I Think I See The Light
Cat Stevens - I Think I See The Light, you're welcome
@@LupinticDream omg
Apparantly, this is a reskinned Donald Duck game that was only available in Japan.
interesting
Yeah, the company that made this game, Kemco had the license to make games with Disney in Japan. But in America Capcom had the rights for the Disney characters so they had to license Snoopy instead.
And both versions are based on the British computer game Alternative World Games
Ah yes, our favorite renowned Japanese animated mascot...Donald Duck.
Arin’s “Dan what the hell!” was so genuine
The Grumps doing a vs. by picking the 1 player option when there is a 2 player mode right beneath it is the most Game Grumps thing ever.
"Time for the river jump!"
Snoopy: Crumbles
Arin and Dan: "It sucks that you have to go through all of these other events to get one try at the river jump."
Me, who played this game as a kid until the cartridge broke: "Guys...please...just choose '1 play select game' on the menu..." 🤦🏼♀️
What's the difference between the different game modes?
@@Nicholas_Steel if you choose "select game," you can play the individual events in any order or amount of times that you want, rather than being forced to go through all of them in sequential order. They also completely missed the two player mode, which would have let one of them control Spike. 😅
Anyone else notice how smooth Snoopy's sprite animations are for an NES game?
I was just thinking that, especially in the pizza minigame, that is way to smooth looking for a NES game
As smooth as the game is short
I'd still really like to see "It Takes Two" get finished. I loved that series, and it has great re-watch-ability, because you're forced to either focus on the convo the grumps are having, or the convo happening in-game. It was so fun and colorful and I love it when they have to work together....please finish it, Grumps!!
Couldn't have said it better myself
it's seeing them fumble through co-op games for me 🙏🏽
I still wanna know if Dan and Arin are getting divorced
When they specifically went to river jump to practice it, and instantly fell flat on the ground, I laughed so hard I started clapping 🤣
Oh man, another gem from my childhood. This game was SOO hard as a child to figure out, but my sister and I would try for hours to figure it out.

Please keep playing old NES era games. You guys seem the most genuinely happy playing these ^_^
Honestly I suspect a large part of the happiness is in not playing Ross's Mario Maker levels.
@@Lou-Mae You're definitely not wrong.
I'm loving all these obscure games lately.
Of course they needed a walkthrough for Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular.
Dude, I could have used one back in the day before the Internet when I rented this, let me tell you.
Just because it looks like it was assembled by trained marsupials does not mean that it's easy to figure out, but I do get the joke :)
I owned this game (still do too) and let me tell you it's HARD
It used to come with one, don't forget. It's called a manual. Which they don't seem to possess.
@@Roxfox Thank you! These old games usually didn't even have basic control tutorials because of the memory limitations on the cartridges. If you didn't have the manual on some games, you were just fucked.
Even when frustrated at these old games, you guys get so passionate and competitive about them lol. Love it
Is no one going to question why there are topiaries of woodstock holding swords along the path towards the leaning tower?
i was not expecting to get so invested in this snoopy game
7:44 the suspense leading up to that spectacular display of catastrophe never fails to make me belly laugh
Tune in the minigame at 3:20 gives me Presidents of the United States of America vibes. Layers with Dune Buggy pretty well.
sounds kinda like a 90's version of gotta get up by harry nillison to me
Yes! That's what I was hearing
I hear it, but POTUS formed 3 years after this game was released. It's bugging me how familiar it is..
I think there's a lemon demon or niel cicierega song itching at the back of my mind for that tune.
It's the song: I Think I See The Light - Cat Stevens
That "Arin wins" section killed me. Props to the editor for that one hahaha
Stage score: *clearly says 60 points*
Arin: 1980! That’s so many points for 1 game!
*Arin goes super fast with two pizzas left, gets 200 points*
Arin: That was so much worse!
Yeah, I saw that. And what was funnier is they still thought that was the best approach even though it was the worst scoring attempt all episode.
Since Dan and Arin are playing old games, I'd love a playthrough of Sly Cooper or Bully! Even if it was a one-off episode

I'd want a whole series of Bully. I wanna see them take on level 5 art class.
Sly Cooper

"Old Games"
Do you seriously consider those to be REMOTELY in the same era as an NES Snoopy game?
the "records" screen after you finish a game sounds like the Rugrats theme
I was about to comment the same thing!!!
Arin: “A four year old could do this!!”
Me: “Well then maybe you should get a four year old.” ☕️
I'll tell you what that Pile of Pizza song is. It's the Starbomb exclusive one-track comeback: Pile of Pizza. (please?)
*THANK GOD* Arin did not get disowned by his mother because of the river jump
The boot toss is probably in Italy because Italy has the shape of a boot ?
'I've built companies' got me real good omg!
Man, that song was driving me nuts, but I literally heard the song [ I Think I See The Light ] by Cat Stevens on Sirius an hour later.
Fate has sided with The Grumps.
I’m going to tell my kids that this is Wario Ware.
And then in the future, they can put your lying ass in an elderly home and call you once a year because you failed to tell them the wonders of Wario Ware.
I don't watch Game Grumps as much nowadays, but I'll always watch you guys chat and play these Nes and SNES games. They're so cosy and fun.
Awe come on, in the comics Spike was an absolute sweetheart who adored his cousin 😅
He even lives out in the desert, that's why he's so skinny and always hungry
This is one of the best Game Grumps episodes.
That was the most grand "Arin wins" I've ever seen
30:38 as a man who played this when he was 4, I could never jump the river.
I was too high when I watched this. Never noticed how much Dan is like a male Tina Belcher. Kill me. My stomach hurts from laughter😅😅
"you have to hold B until the pole is vertical" -dan

Cute af game, I love Snoopy! I love this video and the Bugs Bunny game you two played recently. Reminds me of older GG videos.
Let me tell you a story young ones... back in my day, I was able to go to my local video store, Joe's Videos, on a Friday after school. I then can rent 1 game for the weekend. This game was 1 of those times. This video brought me right back to 7 year old little me.
I am surprised and impressed by the actual quality poured into this game. The music is great, the animations are beautiful and smooth, and the sports are as silly as advertised. Dang!
This brings back memories!! My brother had his for the NES and we played this game!!
Really digging this retro trend the boys are on… maybe it will lead them back to Chrono Trigger?
Agreed! For some reason these episodes are not performing well at all, which is weird. But I'm loving it.
Yeah these NES games are great.
That would be lit, and I wouldn't be surprised given how much Arin loves Chrono Trigger!
Dan: What are the buttons?
Me: *Nickelodeon Guts flashbacks instensify*
The nostalgia of digging through NES games and finding joy... I envy these two! Hopefully they'll find the crappy "Ghostbusters" game and have a good time.
yeah
Omg this game looks so adorable
Damn this shit is good, what is it
*checks bag*
"New episodes of grumps playing classic games"
Nice
Taking turns and sharing a controller is peak retro game experience
But it was two players
I used to play this as a kid. I've never seen the ending animation to that pole vaulting one. Thanks guys, I feel a little more whole as a person now.
I found this game, along with an old NES, and Super Mario Bros. Buried in the woods on my neighbors property a long time ago. We were both kids, and happened to find a controller sticking out of the ground. A couple hours later, we had found a console and about 4 games, however the only thing we were able to salvage was Snoopy 😂 everything else was unsavable after being buried in the wet ground for 25 years. So this game takes a special place in my heart, my very first actual buried treasure. Love to see it being played hahaha
These smaller NES episodes are the best! First off, its NES :) But they are super easy to just jump in and watch! Thank you both for brightening my day!
That sequence at the end, pure genius. 10/10 just enough water.
32:50 - Snoopy's expression: "WTF, did Arin ACTUALLY make it?!?!"
oh cool, im glad this game is finally getting played. I sent a copy like 5 years ago.
I love this. This was the first video game I ever played. My dad and I would spend 2 hours on the weekend playing this. Thanks for the nostalgia trip
The song is the results screen sounds like its from the rugrats right when Tommy squirts his bottle for the intro.
Thanks for telling me how to do the pole vault again. I did it on the first try after you said to hold B and release near top. My son was like seriously. He’s 12 and playing it with me. Great times.
This was one of my first video games on the NES. I used to play it pretty often, so seeing the different events and sprites of Snoopy gave me such a nice rush of nostalgia.
I had completely forgotten about this game until I saw this video, and so many memories came flooding back to me.
Me: **half listening**
Arin: are there any active volcanos in Italy?
Also me: MT. VESUVIUS
One of the MANY REASONS why I love Game Grumps is that they don’t play games that are ‘trending,’ they play games that THEY want to play & they have MUCH MORE FUN doing it 😁
Edit: Also 32:53-32:59 was an amazing edit
I gave up on “It Takes Two” coming back a while ago.
Unfortunately
Was their best game they have done lately. I'd really have loved to see them finish it. Seems like they were not in a very good mood when they were playing it.
Sigh
Arin said on Shuffle Master that they probably won't unless there's enough people requesting it. Im not sure what the requirement is for that, I see people asking all the damn time.
@@WhisperUK It really didn't have very good watch numbers but I am convinced it was because Dan was in a bad mood. He didn't want to do any of the minigames and he wasn't even paying attention, he'd just stand there while Erin kept going. It started with really good numbers.
One of my greatest childhood memories is my uncle buying me this game. I finally had a video game that I liked, and I played it all the time. My brothers were so angry that I all of a sudden wanted turns on the console to play Snoopy. I played that game for years, and I never figured out how to do the pole vault
I used to watch my brothers play SNES and NES games all the time! Earthbound, Donkey Kong Country, Monopoly, Power Rangers, Castlevania, Dr. Mario, MK, Ninja Turtles, legend of Zelda, Bubble Bobble, Duck Hunt and way way more! This is really bringing me back. Please keep playing more games on the NES and SNES!
River Jump has to be split second perfect timing...
Its not even that they're playing NES games its just the overall vibes of recent episodes, they feel like old school Grumps and It makes me so happy
Anybody else hear Rugrats when the world record screen comes up?
I distinctly remember this. As I kid I couldnt figure out how to play it so I kept doing it over and over until I got silly good at all the games. It was like my mission.
