- Hello friends! Here is our re-posted livestream from this past week (4/6)! Please excuse any technical difficulties (audio buzzing, etc) - we are working on it! :)
This week we’re gonna be testing out some extremely bizarre & bizarrely extreme vegetable slicers from Amazon to find out if they can cut, chop, slice and dice better than a regular old knife and help us hacks hack our way to produce bliss. Which of these choppers will come out on top? Would you try any of these crazy slicers?

HELLO FRIENDS!! here is our re-posted livestream from last week! a couple of disclaimers -- 1) do not follow our egg-handling example!! If you handle raw eggs, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly afterwards -- the classic "do nothing I do ever" lol. 2) Apologies for any unpeeled carrots! We are noobs. 2 things I've learned from watching Safiya & Tyler: 1. Safiya is a professional in front of a camera. She knows how to play to a camera, where her marks are. She seems so comfortable and natural. 2. Tyler is well and truly in love with Safiya. The way he looks at her when she talks. The way he engages with her. And it's beautiful.
She also knows how to talk and enunciate and pronounce which I feel like is something that people usually don’t pay attention to but it’s really telling of a person.
She n ty are Stanford graduates if am not wrong

Just a reminder that often these 'weird' machines and gadgets are originally designed or are very useful for people with certain disabilities (like certain motor skills or limb differences) and then they're sold as gimmicks to the rest of the population to make it profitable.

This has nothing to do with the livestream itself but I just really appreciate how you guys communicate. Safiya started to micromanage, she recognized her small issue and apologized, and then Tyler reassured her and validated her feelings. Y’all are literally perfect for each other.
well, it has something to do with the livestream: It's just part smelly candles or unnecessary violence peeling veggies, and part Saf & Ty just working off the cuff, playing by ear.

Please don't, I was freaking out about how I was almost 20 last year. I don't need to start freaking out about almost being 30 yet, I've still got 10 years before I should start doing that.

I imagine high school Tyler making obscure references and none of his friends get them and he always said his dream girl would get his obscure references. Then he met Safiya and she doesn't get his references, but she lets him explain it to her and he found he actually liked that more 😂 they're just a really cute couple.
With Tyler and saf, I often find them finishing each other's sentence or coming up with the same ideas at the same time.
They most of the times get each others sentences to the point that I feel like I am third wheeling 😂

I'd like to think these videos are much more low stress for Safiya and Tyler since they don't require much editing, etc and I am SO here for them I really love the unfiltered goofiness.

It's not stress really but time consuming. I'd say being live adds a lot more stress because you can't edit out things. You can't make that dumb mistake and just cut it like it never happened. Not to mention that during live streams you're judged live by people about everything you do.
They seemed very stressed on the first one but they’ll probably continue to get more comfortable and relaxed

during the carrot slicer where they basically just peeled the outside i was yelling at my screen to turn the carrot upright 😂😂

I feel like I’m watching the start of something big. I really think these two are going to go far. I appreciate they posted the entire video (minus buzzes). The new RUclips needs to be more unapologetic and I’m glad there are more livestreams and less heavily edited videos. I appreciate these two left everything in, even stuff they probably would “edit” out like the awkwardness, the pauses, the technical difficulties, all of it. This makes the video experience more relatable, more raw, more interesting and deep down more human. I know I’m rambling but like these two could become the next Jenna and Julian. Keep on keeping on!

I have watched and enjoyed Safiya for years . Tyler is doing great with the live content. I am honestly really impressed with how quick his jokes are and how he keeps conversation going. I hope he gains more confidence and apologizes less because he seems very naturally suited for live shows.
Safiya and Tyler look happier, healthier, and overall just really happy. I am happy that they look happy.

They often have kitchens at a fire house because the firefighters can be working all day sometimes. Firehouse food is a thing, they often enjoy cooking nice, fresh, hearty meals instead of take out. There's usually also a sleeping area and showers.

yeah honestly i kinda am now that you mention it.
The fire station reference is to the fact that it's quite common for fireighters to cook lots of comfort food for the shift that's easy to grab and eat fast and can stay on the slow cooker for a while, ie, recipes that use a lot of diced veg. Fast to prep, fast to eat. You guys basically nailed it.
In the 70s my grandmother showed me a thing much like the Rotato, only it's horizontal, hand cranked, she'd had it for 50 years. You put an apple (whole) on the prongs and turn the crank, and it peels, cores, and slices the apple all at the same time. You end up with a peel, a core, and a spiralized apple suitable for pies. I have one and keep one at my parent's house.
Yes! You can still buy these in hardwares stores in Australia! We used to use them in scouts and fill the apple core hole with saltanas and honey, wrap it in foil and cook it on the fire 🤩🤩🤩
Both my mom and I have one as well, I make dried apple rings with it, it is so easy when you just have to cut one cut in the spiral to get the rings. And you can buy them in Finland.

Our local rotary club makes “rotaters” with a mechanism almost like this with a peeler and powered with a power drill. They do thin strips and then fry them and then sell them at our local festival. People travel to our town just for it!
That sounds delicious. I, too, am willing to travel for the right fried foods 😂
Suggestion for Carly (sp?)/chat work: I assume Carly had access to the chat via a computer. If you connect another monitor to it, facing you guys, that is enlarged, Carly could share funny/topical comments as they happen to that screen and you could see them. The you could react to them or refer to them when you want. This could be done several ways, just an idea that occurred to me at the end :)

At fire stations they cook a lot by themselves and eat together, and it's always a lot of hungry, physically working people. Mostly hungry guys. You need to chop a lot of veggies.

@@KaylaKasel So far so good! They have been growing FAST. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect(my gardening style tends to be "throw stuff in pot, water it, and if survives then yay!") They are currently in a smaller pot(~8" I think?) and I will probably have to move them into a bigger pot soon since I already have 10+ 2-4in sprouts in that tiny pot.
I feel you! Zucchini is always my go-to vegetable and I make sure I have some at home.

The other piece of the zoodler is used when the vegetable is very short and close to the blade.
The level of their discomfort and awkwardness with knives makes me think they don't cook often
They dont film it when they cook... so everyone feel uncomfortable suddenly usibg a knife in front of a camera...
i cook and i'm equally uncomfortable around knives and sharp objects in general. i don't wanna cut myself and have to go to the hospital to get stiches

I'm uncomfortable chopping when people are watching me, even if it's my boyfriend whom I live with. Lol I would be so much more uncomfortable doing it in front of a camera.
My boyfriend chops and slices vegetables much faster than I do, but I've been getting better as I've been cooking more, so how to cut them faster and easier is starting to become more intuitive.
Saf: I eat the (orange) peel.

I grew up doing the same. Peeling the orange, eating it, and then snacking on the peel. :) My mom always said there were so many more nutrients in the peel. Don't know if she was correct.
