      Honestly, it's probably the best I've seen in any series I've watched, and I love seeing reactions to it. I call "The Moment When Fans Realize How Much They've Come To Care About Cordelia" because most people tend to not like her in the first season, and two seasons later they're devastated about her "death" lol. It shows not only how much the character has evolved in those two seasons, but how much your feelings about her have evolved right along with her...

    Strike four for the Council. First leaving the Watchers of two Slayers(a literally unprecedented situation) in the dark about each other. Then, again leaving Giles ignorant of Faith's calling. Then leaving a traumatized juvenile Slayer living in a roach motel with zero means of support. Now a "memo", maybe, about a rogue Watcher...an extremely dangerous person.
    Dafuq, guys...you can't pick up a phone?
    Spike...what can you say? Comedic, terrifying and perceptive at the same time. This is the show purring on all cylinders, with well developed characters, situations and lore. A string of real bangers are coming up.

    • @spamfilter32
      @spamfilter32 7 дней назад +4

      It is heavily implied that the council thought very low of Giles, even before he became Buffy's Watcher. In fact, that is probably why they made him Buffy's Watcher. She was supposed to die quickly. She was prophesied to die within a year of coming to Sunnydale, so they assigned someone they didn't think much of to be her Watcher because it would be a short assignment anyway. Save the "real" potential Watchers for whomever came after Buffy.

    Happy "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" Friday night with Cody and Sergio!
    Great reaction you two! 😊
    Episode 3x07: I've always thought that this episode had two revelations: That Faith's new Watcher was evil. And the revelation to the Scooby Gang and Giles that Angel was alive and back in Sunnydale. Love the scene when the Scoobies and Giles confront Buffy about Angel's return.
    Episode 3x08: One of my favorite episodes of the season, and one of my all-time favorite episodes of the whole series. Spike's back!!! And unfortunately Oz and Cordelia found out about Willow and Xander. Spike was the highlight of this episode.
    Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊

I feel like I would totally geek out with him over easter eggs in-person. And Sergio’s energy just makes watching these more fun than watching them alone. Growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s, I am a fan of both Buffy and Charmed. I cannot wait to see how you guys react to future episodes. I don’t want to spoil anything for you guys but I will say, Season 3 is one of my favorites. Some memorable episodes with aspects that will be revisited in future seasons. The Buffy writers do a good job at keeping continuity and with callbacks, more so than Charmed did even though I love that show too.

    5 X 5 comes from military communications as a measure of signal strength and clarity, so 5 X 5 means a very strong signal that is absolutely clear, or "Perfect, Couldn't Be Better". It rapidly came to be used in that sense throughout the military. That's the sense Faith uses it in, though often very sardonically.

    • @spamfilter32

You may recall the scene in Age of Ultron where Tony goes into the barn to work on the tractor and runs into Fury where, after a bit of back and forth, Tony says "you're not the Director of me". Recall that Ultron was written/directed by Whedon; that line is a direct callback to and/or stolen from Xander's line @05:55.

      Earned their trust how by allowing Angelus to roam free for months because she was not ready? I hate how harsh people are on characters like Xander. Buffy needed to hear it and the rest of the Scoobies were all on the same page as him regarding the return of Angel. That includes Willow, by the way... Her undying support isn't a good thing. It's dishonest. People need to hear what they don't want to hear sometimes.

    I honestly cannot stand Xander, ever. He is always up in Buffy's privates like she birthed him. He's forgetting he completely LIED to her AND Willow when told Buffy that Willow said, "Kick his ass." Xander *delights* in taking Buffy down a peg and making her feel badly about romantic decisions b/c they never involve him. Giles totally deserved his moment here. I know he was broken hearted all over again. Giles is the only one who knows that Angel got his soul back before Buffy had to kill him to close the portal. Willow is understanding b/c she's keeping a bomb of a secret too.
    "Are you evil?" No hun, Latin just sounds like that 🤣🤣

      So we just ignore all Xander went through with Angel last season? Angelus murdering and torturing all his friends how dare Xander be upset it's not like he could have lost his life multiple times or anything. I guess he should have got a shirt "I survived Angel and all I got was a broken arm"

    • @MariaCJ
      @MariaCJ 7 дней назад +5

      @lance9249 I'm not saying he doesn't have a right to be angry (all of them do!), but it's his zeal in his anger, his delight. He can't WAIT to go in on Buffy, like he's been waiting for this day and he's so glad it's here, like Christmas. That's the part that's ugly and unwarranted.

      @@MariaCJ Buffy is the girl he always wanted but could never have. Even Cordelia previously made a comment with him being obsessed with her. I think there's some of that too in there subconsciously. If she fell in love with him and it was real, he'd drop everything to be with her. So I think he's angry at her and also puts her on a pedestal and when she's not perfect goes all in on her. He only realized he fumbled Cordelia once she almost died and didn't want him anymore.

    I may be love's bitch but at least I'm man enough to admit it. Boom! In your face, how they say it 😄😎The best quote in these 2 episodes
    But I don't understand the romantic message of 'you will be in love till it kills you both'. I see it with Spike and Dru , since they are vampires and just by definition they have such a co-dependent relationship, which is unhealthy, love shouldn't kill. Basic truths. Buffy and Angel have it because she is a 17 year old teenager and he is a 300 plus year old vampire playing hot and cold with her? Like "we should be together, no, we can't" . What is that? Is this romantic? That's more like what an immature brain of a teenager may think about great love which in reality has bad consequences and shouldn't be like that.
    The author actually compares 2 vampires relationship and Buffy and Angel and praise the last one at the same time. And looks like they don't even seem to realize it, these 2 things existing together.
    He has a damaged psyche after all the murders, rapes, psychological manipulation and so on that he remembers and she has an immature psyche because she is a teenager. What a combination. And what, that's romantic?

    Revalations: Buffy lied flat out when she said she was going to tell them as she told Angel she was never going to tell anyone.
    The gag reel has fun with Giles getting knocked out.
    Post wants people to think she isn't evil by being...a horrible bitch?
    "A word of advice, you're an idiot." That's neither a word (3) nor advice.
    Five by five is military speak for good signal strength or loud and clear.
    Buffy all too often excludes Faith. And Faith has technically lost two watchers and feels no one has her back. She serms to have been on her own (no family/friends) even with her first watcher.
    Lover's Walk: Spike. Spike and Joyce. Spike making faces to Angel behind Joyce. He's akso very insightful.
    800 is a perfect score, 1600 total. 1430 is way too high for someone who all too often uses the wrong words and misses a lot of classes.
    Xsnder being surprised he is in Cordy's licker shows how seriously Cordy takes the relationship vs how Xander doesn't, and shows it time and time again with Willow. At least she has the excuse for being into Xander before this season. He just wants what he can't have. She keeps needing to stop him.
    There is no reason for Buffy and Willow to have been walking through the cenetary.
    Spike makes up for the Willow/Xander crap.

    Revelations is an interesting episode as we get the gang finding out Angel is still alive, Willow and Xander contemplating an affair. It of course suits Xander to have Angel dead because even though he has Cordelia, and now nearly Willow, he is still madly jealous of Angel and Buffy and would drop both of those in an instant if Buffy wanted him. Great foreshadowing here again with Buffy and Faith. One thing about this show in particular is we have another English Baddie in Gwendolyn Post, along with Ethan Rayne, Drusilla and Spike etc. Faith referring to her as Mary Poppins was very funny. Another really good episode in S3 of which the quality of show improves leaps and bounds in a very near flawless Season.

    While it may come across as fictional gibberish - and it is most certainly mispronounced - the research team on Buffy really did their homework when it came to references to Ireland (and I'm assuming other cultures too) on Buffy. When Mrs. Post invokes the power of the glove, she cries out, "Tar chugam a chumhacht Myhnegon!", which is Irish-language/Gaelic for, "Come to me, power of Myhnegon". Lesser TV shows would have just made something up, I'm sure.

    A suggestion for some future viewing - The Owl House. It's an animated series about a 14-year-old girl named Luz Noceda, who doesn't have any friends at her school because they other kids think she's too weird & is obsessed with a magical book series - The Good Witch Azura. She ends up in a world with magic, witches, & demons makes friends as she's learning more about the world & magic. It's a lot of fun, has plenty of LGBTQ+ representation (Luz is bi & finds a girlfriend, but there's more than just the two of them). It was unfortunately cut short by Disney because they like to have shows that aren't as serialized as The Owl House was, so they can pick a random episode of it to air after their movies or specials and show it so anyone watching won't be lost if they're not regular viewers.

    2 episodes with deeper long term impacts that get lost in the entertainment, laughs, and drama. First , the Buffy/ Faith dynamic. It’s easy to forget that Faith is younger than Buffy and had the more typical Slayer background. She had no emotional safety net( alcoholic abusive Mother) and the first adult that cared for her, her Watcher, was brutally murdered before her and she did not stop the violence. Faith wants what Buffy has and she wants to belong. The fight was 2 Alphas fighting and Buffy is not accommodating. Buffy wants Faith in the group but on Buffy’s team. Buffy is not a follower. Faith has not learned to give freely and can not understand partnership. The last scene in the motel is sad. Buffy tries but she can’t give Faith what she wants but more importantly, Faith has no idea of what she needs. BTW… 5X5 is Faiths catch phrase that all is good because she can have whatever she wants and needs.
    In Lovers Walk, listen closely to Spike.He is a villain but he is also a truth teller. In Buffy, demons that bring chaos also bring clarity. This entire episode is Spike disrupting the structure so that truth is revealed. Spike says so much about the present, but about the future. For centuries the clown, jester, or mentally challenged told truths in plays and stories. In Buffy it is chaos that heralds truth and the reality we are living. His speech to Buffy and Angel is setting many different truths in motion. Great reactions and buckle up. The next 14 episodes are quite a ride and get the drinks and tissues ready.

    "You must ghave known it was wrong or you wouldn't have kept it from us."
    Or _maybe_, particularly after Dead Man's Party, she had a pretty good idea that you would act exactly as you are acting right now and was trying to put off the evil day as long as possible.
    "Nobody's here to blame you, Buffy."
    Xander is. Xander always is.
    And am I the only one who finds these magical superweapons rather underwhelming? I mean, a typical infantry soldier carries more destructive power than demonstrated by this glove of Minagon.

      Xander has every right to be upset he was there when Kendra died had his arm broken he stood by Willow bed not knowing if she would ever wake. He was there for the chaos of Jenny death had to save Willow life from Angel, Xander was in a standoff with Angelus at the hospital and had Drusilla save his life from Angel during a love spell. I find it hilarious when people think Xander has no right to be upset the guy killing them all last year returned don't worry its Buffy little secret.

    • @coldservings
      @coldservings 7 дней назад +2

      @lance9249 Xander knew good and well the difference between Angel and Angelus. "He's not the guy you knew" (Phases). But he never cared. "I hated Angel long before the rest of you" (paraphrased from memory from Passion). All of the justifications for Xander's constantly dripping venom are nothing more than after-the-fact rationalizations. He goes for poison and personal attacks all the time, dismissing Buffy's trauma as "boy troubles" in Dead Man's Party as one example.
      And never, not once, does he give Buffy the benefit of the doubt.
