Today a short intra-Mexican flight with the local popular ULCC Volaris.
It’s my second flight with them since 2008 and I am curious to see what it turned into since their transition from a kind of full service airline to ultra low cost.

It’s not underrated, it’s a fairly new channel and it’s growing so fast that it’s honestly growing out of my hands. It keep me insanely busy whenever I have a tiny bit of free time.

For context: this appears to be an ex-LATAM plane. The front 3 rows would be sold as “Premium Economy” where the middle seats would be blocked off, but with Y4, they also sell the middle seats. The planes dedicated for Volaris have less pitch and less creature comforts like no power ports. Since this appears to be an ex-LATAM plane the seats are far nicer, and I believe this is a 180-seater instead of 186.
This is also why the headrest covers are different on the exit row compared to the first 3 rows despite both types being Premium seats.

Me robaron Luis! Me robaron y enfermaron.. no iba a ser gráfico en el video pero ya notaba mi estómago minutos tras comer el sandwich. Menos mal mi hotel estaba en el aeropuerto y pude ir corriendo a mi habitación.

I make sure that whatever I do requires travel: I have a multicultural family living all over the world, I have property in different countries, I work for a major travel and hospitality brand, and I travel for hobby!
I’ll to describe some day what I do, but for now I’m attached to exclusivity contracts.

Volaris used to be kind of full service and they changed to ulcc some years ago, so it was also quite new for me as I didn’t know what to expect.

@15:00 that check you are referring to is a D check where most of the airplane parts are removed for inspection and heavy maintenance. The other check is a C check which requires a deep inspection of most of the airplane parts.

This story I was told by an engineer friend of mine some 10 years ago.
He works for some big airline in Spain and told me that while he was performing a major check, in the water deposit they found a big growing underwater plant. Some seed must have managed to get in there, but he swears the story is true.
And I believe him..

LOL, I had a sandwich on Viva Aerobus and got sick for a week after the flight too.
It was tasty, but it smelled metallic almost.
There are no fridges or chillers installed on these planes, I wish I had known before..

Turning planes around so quickly is perhaps why COVID was able to spread so quickly. It used to be cleaning crews that would board the aircraft and disinfect. Now, they leave it up to the passengers.
It could be one reason, but for sure not the biggest one..
It’s impossible to have a sterile plane, it would just take hours.
I remember everyone was paranoid at the beginning, specially my wife when we traveled after she gave birth. I spend a good hour disinfecting seats myself😂
Now we don’t care.

@@TheLayoverAviation, I disagree. One of my cousins used to work for Delta cleaning airplanes. Carriers have gotten away from the basics. Profits over common sense. I am also an RN, so I'm extra observant about the cleanliness of airplanes, and it only improved marginally post-COVID as its rapid spread was partly due to complacency. Finally, continue to care. We're not out of the woods just yet. Stay safe.

NUNCA comas comida de Volaris, NUNCA!! y una disculpa por el aeropuerto, el presidente que gobierna ahorita boicotea el aeropuerto para que nos obligue a los pasajeros a usar la porquería que construyó y que es una basura ;)
Nunca comeré esa comida más, aprendí mi lección 😂
Y si, esa terminal es horrible.. Voy cada 2 meses y no cambia nada..
Ojalá todo mejore, los Mexicanos se merecen otro aeropuerto!
