You're getting to the bag that's all that needs to be said Rob! I want people to understand there is money to be made out here if they want to work for it.
Absolutely! Like they use to say, skills pay the bills. I'm going for my journeyman in HVAC this year. The more certificates the more money I make. I'm still doing my own business though, I don't see myself retiring from a job.
@@DubYaJsWorld I'm still in my box truck & ironically was a Deck electrician before the pandemic. It might be a good time to sharpen up my IT skills. It's getting, it's getting, it's getting kinda hectic ~ SNAP
@@andrecorbin2757 can't go wrong with that. I want my masters in HVAC, plumbing and electrical. Then start my own company and get to that big money. You can't go wrong with trade skills!
#1) here in Toronto, CA. To become an electrician is very long process and expensive. The steps I’ll list below: Complete 8,160 hours of on-the-job training as an electrician apprentice Complete 840 in-class hours of electrician training Pass the electrician certification exam Become a certified, registered journeyperson in the trade It’s crazy we have entry level (no experience needed) labour jobs in the shoring industry which pay $56/h + full benefits and $20-100/cash a day for your gas. Saturday is 2x pay, Sunday is 2.5x pay. If you work nights they add extra $15/h on top. If you’re working in ditch or tunnel they add $5/on top. Last year around January I worked 2 shifts on weekend both night shifts both tunnel work…. ($54/h (at the time) + $15/h + $5h) x 2 for Saturday and 2.5h for Sunday. And the work is hard when you work, but so much downtime and delays. For example those night we were working on a train track (which I was paid to get certified to be able to work on rail roads)… we had trains coming thru every 10-15min meaning all equipment must stop work and everyone off the tracks while train comes to stop and leaves… plus your 30min coffee break at 9am. Lunch at 11 (30min). We are scheduled 7am-4pm every day… on average I maybe ever left at 4pm or later would be 2-3 times a year due to a concrete truck delay or something that absolutely had to be done before next day or weekend…. Typically we finished at 1-2pm (got paid for all 8h everytime no matter what. Basically as long as you show up, you get 8h. But if you stay later you get that extra as well in 30min intervals / unit of measure to get paid. Everyone could speak to anyone at any level position in the company. Even if you’re brand new labourer, you can get in touch with the owner of the company and this is currently a $500m / annually gross business not a small 10-20 employee business. When I was there I heard we had 480-500 labourers just in our province alone. Also office in BC and Alberta. This doesn’t include admin, engineers, testers, shop workers/prefab, drivers. Etc….. Sorry for rant… entire point was, basicslly guaranteed $100k+ yearly plus FULL benefits for entire family with no experience AND WE WERE DYING TK HIRE ABSOLUTELY ANYONE!!! Such a demand just for labourers in shoring but nobody wants to work physically. Yet the avenues it opens for you… I did this for a year and became friendly with our welders who are contracted… Welding course here is 5-6months $5k. 160h in the shop doing practical practicing. 4 practical exams to get structural welding cert…. starting pay as a welder if you join a company $47h + benefits full…. If you have a rig (your own business and truck / welder) starting rate for BULK work $150/h + your daily rate 1hour for gas / expenses. We have welders making $400-600k/yr and they are 27-28 lol So now I own a welding company is my entire point. The company which I spoke of also would send anyone to get certified or pay your schooling if you want to advance. For example they will send you to drilling school for 3yrs so you can drill for them and make $160k/yr playing with a joystick and doing no labour cuz you have labourers 3 of them with ykh always… crane operator? They pay… any equipment really lol it’s insane. People just need to learn how to take smart chances and see what doors it can open.
Okay it sucks they put electricians through so much but holy smokes those other jobs are paying out of this world good! That's really awesome you were able to capitalize there and end up with a welding business. You are also correct (smart chances) can pay off big but a person has to be willing to do the work!!
