    REMEMBER how Toyota were lying in the Crash Tests? Building tougher vehicles for the tests and then making sub par vehicles for sale. I've lost all respect for Toyota after that. It's actually comforting for me to see them suffering :) WELL DESERVED !! P.S. Did you know they have a Solid State battery? Yeah! It's called the "Imaginary Battery" :)

    Over five years ago, when Toyota was announcing huge plans for their EV market, I was actually excited about it. Now I know it was just a ruse. They even had a foothold in the US market with having a Tundra manufacturing facility already in the US. Even though they had the market virtually cornered with the Prius, they chose to squander it away. They caused their own demise.

      They were working on hybrids and hydrogen technology behind the scenes the entire time. I can’t really blame them for it, because fossil fuel cars are more profitable, especially when you factor in all the maintenance and byproduct sales that are associated with oil; and going up against the fossil fuel industry isn’t easy.

    Not only are IDRA (owned by a Chinese company) presses essentially bespoke, one of the most complicated parts, that Tesla has put a ton of thought into, are the molds themselves. Tesla was using a lot of send casting to figure out how to optimize and iterate on mold design, before going into production. The have also used a lot of computer modeling to figure out how the molten aluminum should flow through the mold.

    The chickens are finally coming home to roost at Toyota. 🐔 🐔 🐔 🐔 Declining quality, severe recalls, catastrophically defective turbo V6 and Corolla GR engines, failing transmissions, poorly-engineered BEVs and a recent scandal involving falsification of safety certification data. I'm not sure Toyota's lawyers or its prodigious global advertising budget can save it from this downward spiral this time.

    Let me be clear: if an automaker cannot make a profit when the entire world is in the process of upgrading from ICE engines to EV motors, they are useless. When consumers upgrade from old tech to new tech, it results in huge boom for the industries concerned. For example: the switch from mainframe computers to PCs was so massive that we're still feeling the effects today; the switch from analogue to digital tech has spawned entire new economies (IT); even the switch from CRT television to flat panels, followed by HD TVs, followed by 4K TVs followed by 8K has rained profits on those manufactures. If the CEOs of auto companies cannot profit from the current environment, they are utterly incompetent.

    • @nickyoung4799
      @nickyoung4799 8 дней назад +1

      A couple of questions arising from your comment.
      When you say 'the entire world' is transitioning to EVs, are you including Africa, South Asia, Latin America and the former Soviet Union in that? If so, I must beg to differ.
      I could be wrong, but the technology transitions you mentioned did not require massive government intervention to persuade people to switch to PCs and flat screen TVs.
      Toyota appears to have played its hand quite cleverly. 'Net zero' is massively unpopular amongst ordinary people, and the US has just flushed it completely.
      Early adopters and the well off have already got their EVs. The rest of us are either hostile or indifferent, which is why, in the UK, at least, there are thousands of massively discounted electric cars with no buyers. A tiny percentage of these are Toyotas.

    Toyota's BZ4X uses 96 large battery blocks of 201 amp hours each. Managing these large battery blocks is difficult in a vehicle like the BZ4X especially managing the heat produced. These battery blocks are normally used in home battery storage. This is why Supercharging is only up to 150kw as well as discharging at 150kw even for the dual motor version. Toyota have shown they really don't understand how to build an EV.

    Having burned all of their R&D money on Hydrogen, and now likely under government pressure to merge with Subaru (also Isuzu), Toyota lacks the management bandwidth to sustain HSD tech, much less push into EVs. This is why they're moving to BYD Hybrid tech and can't develop a competitive EV. Toyota will do fine in legacy markets like the US and Japan, with limited success in the EU, but everywhere else, they're in very big trouble due to how fast the Chinese are moving. In a decade, Toyota will be an also ran.

    Statics are showing Australians are resisting buying electric cars and choosing either ICE cars or Hybrids. Byd Toyota EV Technology Co., Ltd. (BTET) are the leaders in Hybrid technology and like EV batteries, Hybrid technology is improving also, perhaps at a faster rate than battery technology. Byd/ Toyota claim their Hybrids will have a range of in excess of 2,000 km. So what are the buyers going to choose. Will it be an EV that costs around $50,000 and has an average range 350 km and a charging infrastructure that is not yet in place in Australia, or a Hybrid that costs around $40,000 and has a range of 2,000 km and all the infrastructure is already in place.
    We will see how the market goes.

    The only hope for Toyota EV's is that the new administration will set back EV adoption in the US and possibly give them some time to catch up. I do see quite a few BZ4X's in New York City as taxicabs and their current lease offer of $179 a month with $4,000 down is not bad. But Consumer reports rates them low on reliability which is Toyota's saving grace. I guess if you could get a low enough monthly lease payment ( lower than any other EV) and only use it for daily driving, it would be OK?
