I finally sent both Oakley drops at DYFI! So little speed needed

  • having watched ‪@suzannelacey7027‬ showing how to do these drops from a speed point of view I wanted to see if I could muster up the bottle to send them.
    The thing I found is that the small one looks horrible but it's actually super chill and easy. If you can just get past the fear and believe the process you'll be fine. Especially anyone that does Pay Rise at Wind Hill, the middle drop there is no different to the small one here. The down ramp is super chill and really fun. I just rolled off for this one, no pedal, not pop and oh it's so lush!!
    The bigger one is exactly the same, I wanted to make sure I went off a bit left so that I didn't miss the berm but otherwise, you'll see the speed is a lazy crank in, roll and them drop. No pop or anything. I make a noise when I land but I think that me just making drama for the sake of it.
    The middle one is also very doable. You just need need to believe the process. Physics will take care of the rest :D
    I wish I had the bottle to commit to the next jump, may need to improve my jumping confidence a bit more yet ;)

    Meet you a couple of months ago when my mates transition tr11 DH threw axle got rounded off at windhill carpark and was trying to figure out how to stuff it onto the back of my car!
    I've looked at these drops and it's good to know the left is like middle or large drop on payrise as that's puts into a context of something I've done before. But saying that still need to the right hand one on payrise.

    • @GeezeILoveMTB
      @GeezeILoveMTB  Год назад

      ohhh the gorgeous TR11, I remember.
      the left drop is funny as it looks so awkward but the technique really is the same and the middle Pay Rise and as Jake confirms when he sends it over, it's really lush and smooth. I look forward to getting an update when you send it on your next visit to Dyfi :)

    Super useful video thanks. Amazing effort! I'm hoping to tick it off one day but who knows when. It's great to see someone do it that I can relate to rather than a RedBull pro (no disrespect to them). I didn't even think I would be considering it until this year but then I ticked off the small one and i started thinking....maybe. Looks like much the same (except from a little direct on the take off). How did you find the impact on landing? Did it feel heavy?

    • @GeezeILoveMTB
      @GeezeILoveMTB  4 месяца назад

      Hey we’ll done you!!! You must be feeling chuffed! The landing was better the first time when I had my shock set stiffer. I opened it more for the second one and so felt bigger. Having the suspension stiffer was so much better but either way all good. 🤘

      Cheers, it’s a Canyon Spectral I think the 2022 carbon version so it’s a 160 fork 150 shock. I meant to run it fully closed to firm it up to protect it from bottoming out but went the wrong way so it was fully open but still it was all okay 🫣
