Update KO4WHD's STL files are no longer available. You can purchase his case at www.ko4whd.us/store/lilygo. Or you can check out Alley Cat's design at: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6490626
Printed one of the earlier versions w/out the sma antenna option, but was able to fit a giant 6k map pack battery in it...couldn't believe it fit!
Since T-deck is so big, and uses more electricity, why people don't use 18650 lithium cells? I have hundreds of such cells waiting to be used in some project.
Likely due to complexity of install and size. You would need to purchase an additional battery holder with a built in BMS. You already get all that with the flat pack and it can be soldered right to the board with little fuss. I actualy use 18650s with my LoRa32s with holders from Battery Space so it's definitely not a technical problem.
@@NFSSAM why not 3D-print battery holders. No need for BMS if the device has lipo management
@@NFSSAM
smaller cell phone batteries work exceptionally well too...and have the BMS and all that built in
Very very nice setup...gonna print up a case...gotta order me a T-Deck first...very cool!
where did you get your antenna?

I built this one twice and it snapped off half the face connector tabs on each that I printed. PLA was from 2 different manufacturers (one was Creality). I think I'm going to go with the screw in one.
The black pieces are printed with Polymaker Polylite PLA Pro.
PLA SHOULD be flexible enough to not snap on those clips. I would check that your nozzle doesn't have a partial clog, and if a bowden print head, make sure the tube is fully incerted. If after fully troushooting extrusion and you are still having issues, get some esun pla+ (I think they may have recently rebranded it to "pla+ pro") it is stronger and can handle more deformation than standard pla.
@@NFSSAM After his response I checked and realized that I actually used PLA+ which I believe is more brittle I just got a spool of the Polylight PLA Pro to try out. First I need to build a bigger spool holder.🙃
@@RavenwoodAcres I just printed it out with that PLA Pro filament and it worked great. I have a bunch of different colors in PLA+ but I think it is too brittle for this application.
Also, I was mistaken about manufacturers of my previous. Neither was from Creality.
thingiverse link is broken
Here is alternate design: www.printables.com/model/741124-lilygo-t-deck-case
Where did you get the screw kit from
Amazon: amzn.to/49a1mPC
Does this use the power efficient guts like the T-Echo or is it the more power hungry T-Beam internals?
More power hungry for sure.

Alley Cat created a better case in my option. Try this one: www.thingiverse.com/thing:6490626
Nice video, keep up the good work, God bless.
Thanks, you too!
That "valley" running horizontally across the back of the unit is wasted space. Perhaps a future design could be one smooth flat back, which would allow a still bigger LiPo battery to be mounted. Flat back and flat front means you could abandon the snap connectors (and the issues related to them) by having just screws on the back of the unit. This would make any gasketing easier too.
I 100% agree, I sent a message to the designer. I also have learning to CAD design my own 3D print files on my short-list. Thanks for the feedback.
@@RavenwoodAcres Hope the software on the t-deck can be upgraded someday to be closer to the functionality you get through a phone running the Meshtastic app.
@@RavenwoodAcres Apologies for multiple replies. Just came up in my feed a 3yo video called "lora msg" on the channel "msg lab". Someone's handheld versions of a device that appears to predate the lilygo t-deck.
@@suzyamerica4679 Interesting, I will check it out. I got into lora about two years and it is developing fast.
@@RavenwoodAcres You have been very patient then! But yes, that link was cool because it has all their build notes (on the website) and it came out like a lilygo t-deck but was made of entirely different components. Keyboard looks pretty similar though.
