I love Emmanuel. He calls a fight as if he's already seen the outcome of it. And he be knowing exactly what he's talking about. It's amazing.

@@SML1010THAI I think he was the greatest boxing trainer of all time for 5 reasons. 1) He brought along many numerous homegrown Detroit boxers to championships and contention. Any small country would be pleased to have that much success. I can even think of several like Bernard Mays who could have been world champions, but would not follow through. 2) He took on Lennox Lewis and Vladimir Klitschko after they had both failed a couple of times when in big bouts, and turned them into first rate heavyweight champions. 3) After he became more of a what's called a designer-trainer, with numerous top ranked boxers seeking his tutelage, and continued to prove his ability to get the best from them, which just added to his resume. 4) Evander Holyfield was soundly defeated by a younger Riddick Bowe. Holyfield worked with Emanuel Steward I think for just 1 single bout, and worked a miracle of strategic boxing, and Holyfield clearly won the rematch by utilizing a completely different fight plan. 5) He had a huge amount of intangibles; off the charts.

@@SML1010THAI I think Emanuel Stewart utilized a whole array of axioms, such as those of Cus D'Amato, Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, etc... but didn't possess the ego to put them into writing. Just before the opening bell of Hearns-Cuevas, Steward hugged Hearns for a brief moment; the 10 year old boy who walked into his gym 11 years earlier. It may sound like an overt thing to say, but I think he actually got the most joy out've developing boys into manhood--even outside of boxing--even if boxing didn't work out for them in the long run. The boxing world isn't exactly known for having Angels... but wow..

I was training a 15 year old fighter. Manny was there and my kid went over to talk to mr. Stewart . He was great told the kid that he was the best fighter there ( he was not) and would keep an eye on him. What a great guy every time I saw him at shows he had time to talk. Boxing misses him. His nephew sugar hill looks to be cut of the same cloth working fury’s corner.

Never knew Emmanuel steward rip trained Eminem, another great in his field, Manny to me is the greatest trainer of my 25yrs in being a boxing fan. I'd also say older fans might well say the same, was such a loss to the fight game when Manny passed so suddenly. I'd of loved to see him in his mid to late 70s at least before he hung his kronk shirt up. At his own accord, unfortunately life is bitch, but he'll never be forgotten. Great trainer analyst and man.

@@dltguitar6532 Emanuel Steward had nothing at all to do with all the fighters who dealt coke and lived the life. He took care of all his fighters. Even the ones who didn't pan out. As long as they were upstanding people Emanuel made sure they had jobs at Kronk, or doing something for a decent wage they wanted to do.
Fighters, by far, are uneducated and go back to what they know when the fighting days are over. Not that they ever leave it.
Like music, DLT, being a fighter is a form of being an artist. The difference being, the fighter's art is his violence, his inner demons, his most vile secrets, lashing out in vicious combinations with intent to hurt, possibly kill.
The guitarist, say SRV, slashes, rips, tears, and screams out in desperation, as well. No threat of a broken nose, or jaw, or ribs, or concussions, or chances of death, other than electrocution or a deranged fan like the fuktard who killed Dime Bag Daryl
