  • Having your RV Furnaces fail is no laughing matter and it can be a pretty bad situation if the temps are low and you have no back up. Always hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

We are a couple traveling full-time through out the USA. We live full time in our Heartland Big Country 29.50 5th wheel. Older video's show our adventures when we lived in our truck camper for 5 years. The move up to the 5th wheel has been an exciting move and our life style has changed just a little over the years of being on the road, all for the better! Have some fun and step back in time to when we first started our nomadic life style and then come join us as we continue to post video's here on RUclips and on Patreon.

Yes, my husband is like Scotty, in that he always tries to fix things himself, first. And usually he can. And like you said, RUclips is so helpful, if you do run into something that stumps you. In the nearly 46 years that we've lived in our house, I think we've had to call a plumber twice! And in one of those times, my husband was out of town for his job. The other required a snake or whatever to clear a clog in an outside pipe leading to our septic tank. He also, can do a lot of electrical things. And even totally wired a tiny house sized storage shed, that is half storage and half office for me. He even put in the pipes needed for a propane heater we have out there, and had it checked by a professional to make sure it was done safely. It was! So yeah, I sometimes take for granted that he'll do his level best to fix anything that breaks down. But I know him doing that has saved us thousands of dollars, over the years! But he loves doing it, for house repairs, appliances, cars, you name it. Of course on cars now days, with so much that's computerized, there's less he can do himself. But he at least has a tool to tell what codes are showing, so knows enough not to ever be told something needs fixing, that doesn't. So even that saves us money. I'm sure Scotty got it up and running! 😊

If the motherboard is anything like a computer, it's probably a failed capacitor or two. Somebody on YT has probably figured out which one and has a video on the replacement. My brother could solder and replace those, but I had to be the one to figure out which one it was.

@@DestinationOpenRoad , wish I was there, I've built electronics for 30 years, I'm not a tech but I could change the relay for you. It's about a 3$ item and takes only a couple of minutes to desolder and replace. Although ordering from the supplier is a pain. You can get them in a couple days from digikey. Keep the old one and if the new one goes bad it can be fixed.

I feel especially bad for all the nomads who don’t have a heater at all or don’t have the money to buy the fuel or run their car all night long.
