- On a cold windy overcast November day, temperatures barely in the 50's along with a late afternoon rain delay, spelled doom for the last test n tune session for the year at Byron Dragway here in northern Illinois. With just a 30 car count and cold temperatures the decision was made early on this day they would end the action at 3:00pm. About 2:30 I noticed a couple guys hustling around swapping tires on a sleek looking Mercedes. I'm thinking to myself these guys are really pushing their luck, as most racers were packing up and I too myself was about ready to get to my warm truck for the long ride home. Upon hearing this '17 V8 BiTurbo AMG C63-S fire up and head to the staging lanes I quickly changed my mind. According to the owner Doug and his buddy, they were up all night thrashing on it with the hope to get a few runs in before winter came. They hurried to the track and got there just in time to get some shakedown passes in! Track owner Bj Vangness and crew went out of their way to accommodate the guys by doing a quick prep and even taking the torch to heat up the starting line as the track temperature plummeted as barely a car had ran down the track in the last half hour. The C63-S didn't disappoint as it ripped of 3 consistent 10.50's passes with the honor of being the last car to make a pass at Byron Dragway for the 2018 season!

I stopped wanting this after I heard “just had a stock rblt. On the tranny” after 1 year! Unfortunately the drivetrain is not made to accept so much torque without modifications. Either way bass ass built. !!👍

I don't recall him saying something was wrong before the rebuild. It sound like he wanted everything right as possible for the best time after doing turbo upgrade.

well it doesn't say 800whp. it says 828 HP. and that would probably land it barely around 700whp in a 4000 lb car.
He said stock engine and transmission so it's not 800 WHP. He's around 650 to 700 WHP max.

How the hell are you expecting a street rwd car running over 800hp to get a quicker time in 1/4 mile drag compared to 4wd.
The only way this would potentially not be a problem is if a rwd vehicle is setup for drag with huge drag radial tyres.

It was a last minute deal, threw new trans in it night before and car was not tuned.

@@junelcole6663 Try lowering your rear tire pressures to 33. I can get good launches with that if I burnout before hand. I do 33 rear, 35 front. I don't lose traction with stock Super Sport tires.

@@zabekhurram what does that have to do with anything, it’s still slower lol. I love the c63s, it’s just not meant to drag race. When I got to test drive it I was actually disappointed with it’s power. The m4 and RS3 were a lot more stout, doesn’t mean it’s not a nice car.

Nah the first gear rollout on these gen c63s is horrible from factory. Even with traction fully off it’ll cut torque and power on the rollout no matter what, but the best way to get around that is to do what he did. Quick brake stand while holding the gas pedal half way to get the turbos spooling and torque built up and as soon as he lifts the brake he launches without torque cutting out the power. Compared to other launches from these gen c63s this was actually pretty fast.

Mercs always move slow compared to how much power the have because of aggressive torque management in low gears to save the transmissions
This thing is a beast in roll races, check out his IG. Beats built engine upgrade engine M3s and stuff, all on stock engine.
