Take note, this person is what you call a class act. She has always been delightful and lovely but now you know just how big her heart truly is, what an amazing lady!
I like her si.much in ME BEFORE YOU. She had a small role but she made a big impression. She gave an unforgettable performance. That's what great acting is all about. You don't have to be the lead actor to make an impression.
Absolutely Fabulous is my ALL time Favorite Show.. My brother made me the whole show on disk.. I still watch it 😊 This American Loves British TV. I wish I could get Jonathan's show. I only have BBC America.. I Love Graham Norton but it would be nice to see Jonathan's show.. LOL
This issue of how the Gurkhas contributed to British imperialism is parallel to that of the KNIL for the Netherlands. After loss of the Dutch Indies (as Indonesia), the Dutch turned their backs on the KNIL, but the British were forced by people like Lumley to honour & acknowledge the Gurkhas.
My father was with the Gurka Rifles in HONG KONG, Malaya and Singapore. He went to the GURKA REUNIONS UP UNTIL THE LAST YEAR BEFORE HE DIED IN 2013 Thank you to all THE GUKHA'S We owe them a lot NOW we don't take care of any of the people that worked with the UK Forces interpreters esp IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN to name a few My father used to speak of the KUKRI and the need to make a cut when it was removed from the sheaf, A small nick was enough He kept them with pride My sisters disposed of everything, I was out of country :-(
The Brits have always turned their backs to those that fought for them. Ask an Australian, Canadian or New Zealander. Our children and grandchildren are not treated well when they want to visit and work for a few years. That didn’t happen to our fathers when the Brits needed them. It seems to be forgotten that 136 New Zealanders flew in the Battle of Britain which on a per head of population basis exceeded all others efforts including the Brits.
The Gurkhas claim of discrimination was not upheld by the European court, their terms of service and pensions as Nepali not Britsh citizens made them top of the society and wealthy in Nepal , the campaign was just a money grab and Lumley fell for it, as did many Brits who still repeat the propaganda they were told .
@@Degjoy yes, as a veteran we all know it's true, the entire thing was a sham, even the hunger strike was done in shifts and so entirely fake, ultimately if the Gurkhas are not cheaper to employ than out own citizens they have no use, we don't need foreign contractzcted infantry anymore.
Joanna is an absolute delight to watch, listen to & be thankful for her presence ❤❤❤❤❤
Never heard of the Gurkas - fascinating!! Joanna Lumley seems completely genuine; love her! ❤️

Absolutely talented and lovely woman who’s aged beautifully and she’s just an absolute joy to listen to.
My army dad always said he trusted the Gurka's the most with his life

Anything Avengers is welcomed in my life! I was a kid when I first saw The New Avengers and was mesmerized. It led me to the original series.❤

BS.
I live in Toronto, so seeing bits of Canada in The New Avengers (partly or wholly in Canada?) was a treat. It probably helped sell Jaguars too.
A ❤ of Gold 🥰

My dad was in the army and they worked with the Gurkha's and they was vicious. But everyone respected everyone.
You made that up though.
@@snowflakemelter1172 no I haven't made it up,my mum has a photo album full of his time in the army.
Have you served your country?

Why did they have to cast such cutie to play that monster of a human on AF?!
To turn our back on the Gurkhas is what the Brits are doing with the Afghanis now. It is shameful :(
