It's a mixture of things. But in this case it's mostly that the person who did the job before me didn't knife it out like he should have.

Why do y’all put the hot horseshoe on? I know its not painful or anything I’m just curious
Shaping the shoe is easier to do hot and burning it gives me 100 percent contact between the shoe and the hoof
