I like kane pixels series very much, it is a deep dig into a creative interpretation of the backrooms, but i actually found your channel first, with backrooms 2005. when i found kane pixels series very soon after, at first it felt similar, but the more i found new backrooms content, i came to see that a lot of uploaders followed in a certain path, rarely do any backrooms channels keep their own realm of creativity and interpretation, like yours have. frankly i actually do think you are my favorite backrooms channel.

"Don't get lost" by Matt Studios is easily one of the best monster free scares I've seen so far. As much as the Kane Pixels monsters work well for that series, It's probably better to think that the only monsters in the backrooms are the ones you brought with you. It's not that you can't have the protagonist running from a monster, you just can't ever actually show the monster.
To me the backrooms are very much about being lost in hostile infrastructure (PvE). Simply knowing you're really not supposed to be somewhere creates tension, knowing this place you really shouldn't be could suddenly fill with a lakes worth of water or have a 200klm\hr wind blow through or simply getting hopelessly trapped/lost is way more terrifying than a gurgling monster (unless the growling turns out to be a machine you should only ever be that close to with the power fully disconnected and locked out).
Alternatively simply telling a good story can be worth more than the best scares rendered with the most realistic graphics. Lost in the Hyperverse looks like a mid 2000s video game, but we become so attached to the characters we need to know what happens next and eagerly await every episode.
Also as cringe as they are the silly backrooms vids are just that, silly comedy bits that should be watched for a cheap laugh and can actually be very funny when done well (or gone so horribly wrong it's hilarious and we'll just pretend like that was intentional)

The thing I've noticed is that most backrooms videos use a 90's VHS effect which generally looks boring and overused while newer videos take more inspiration from videos taken in the early-late 2000s which looks a lot more aesthetically pleasing

I saw a video. A guy was in a house he was upstairs he got called to go down he go down and then fall down and end somewhere.
I mean, you saw the stairs but was longer and you look around and there where parts or elements of the house.
I also heard about an newer concept that there a hybrids or transitional spaces where our world and the backrooms are not separated but connected.
The best is this: you don't end up always in level 0.
But depending on where you are you end in a similar place you are on the swimming pool and ride the lazy river or the slide and end in the pool.
Or elevator and you end In an unknown places

I think you're referring to "First Encounter" by Matt Studios in the first half of your comment. In my opinion, he also deserves a spot in the list of top creators of monster-free backrooms animations as all of his his room designs give that uncanny feeling of getting lost in an "AI generated" hell of hallways and nonsensical pools. You can also completely relate to the unstoppable curiosity of the protagonist who keeps checking out to see whats behind every next corner as he still doesn't seem to understand that these rooms keep going on forever. He absolutely nails that feeling in his video called "Second Encounter". Of all the hours of found footage videos I've consumed, this is my absolute #1

Oh boy here I go, I partly agree with this. Let me start by saying that my first encounter with the backrooms came in the form of a creepypasta, this creepypasta defined the backrooms as segmented open halls with "footsteps closing in" but not knowing what that thing might be. Over the years especially as more and more levels came in and readings were made by creators such as Ferrante, Mr. Backrooms, Monthly Scares etc. the interest in the backrooms went up quite far. While Kane pixels did cause this peak to lengthen even further, he only managed to do so because he created a version of the backrooms that appealed to people. Unfortunately this version was filled with hazmat suits, a governmental approach and the typical "..And then a monster shows up." As shown in the video before, there already were creators that managed to make the backrooms interesting without relying on these tropes. Why is this not good? Because this skyrocketing community gets handed wiki's that are filled with plotholes or don't even take themselves serious anymore (per example the wikidot). In this case the only person that can partly reach this large community with the old content would be Broogli (not fully oc because he went with the flow and the new content, but you can't deny that he also made old backrooms content).
That being said, for me personally the idea of levels in the backrooms was always pretty nice, but the intrigue and what made the old backrooms interesting imo is that it was a network of weird worlds that appeared real but weren't, both because of their looks as well as the environmental dangers that they gave off. While there were a few entities roaming, the levels never had to fully rely on them to be interesting. Some of these levels even came with a special breed of entities that resided just on those levels, which made them even more interesting on me. But from what i've seen nowadays it more or less goes like this: Level 884 has a few smilers, hounds, skin-stealers and deathmoths thrown into them. Level 445 has a few hounds, facelings and clumps and so on. There isn't even any reasoning anymore. That's also part of the reason why the old wiki already wasn't 100% perfect either. Heck I bet that there are some levels in the wikidot nowadays that are actually well-written and give off that good old backrooms feeling who knows.
Concluding, nowadays to me the backrooms are nothing more but a simple world with enemies that you need a survival guide to, much like surviving wave after wave in a COD zombie game. It feels like people don't care about making the levels liminal, uneasy or nostalgia inducing, it's just "This looks weird so now i'll throw monsters on it and call it a level". I think what makes backrooms good, is the fear of the unknown in humans, which is also the reason why the backrooms work with as little context as possible and keep as many questions open.

Respect your opinion but i do think kane does treat the monsters in his videos as decent. As I think most of you are thinking of the example of how FF1 treated the entity I do as well in my opinion think it's treated a bit meh to me, but in videos like in Motion Detected, Pitfalls, and FF2. I think the lifeform is more scary as there is an actual build up to the fear instead of appearing randomly without no fear factor. I mean one of the big things with horror if you're adding a threat like a monster is adding build up so people feel fear.
And non the less even though we can obviously see the design is skinny and humanoid in nature, alot of the lifeforms shown in the videos are hidden and more mysterious and plus besides FF1 the designs of the creatures are different, and the creatures seem to actually have some detail instead of it being black, kinda why I hate how people treat the bacteria models that you see as somewhat canon to how it looks. And I like how the backrooms is put first instead of the monster in his videos as he's videos in all its length is pretty much near 2 hours and there's only 4 minutes of screen time of the creature at most.
And the lifeforms design and how it acts actually makes sense within the backrooms instead of a yellow funny man, I mean first of all the backrooms is like a place trying to mimic reality and if a monster is in the backrooms what's better then for the entity to fit in the backrooms concept? It acting like how the backrooms is, trying to mimic life on earth but failing. And makes sense why the lifeform is mimicking voices as it's basically a distorted lifeform trying to replicate life on earth but failing horribly just like how the backrooms is trying to be like our world but failing horribly.
And I'm not trying to be that "Ehm actually🤓 nerd guy" but to be honest the company Aysnc shown in the series isn't treated as some "generic evil government cooperation" that alot of people think what Aysnc is trying to be in the series, but it's basically "a small group of nerds who are accessing a place they shouldn't" kane has said, and I think it's better that way. And what I like about kanes story with is that I mean we have decent amount of Infomation of Aysnc like the project and their reasonings but there's still a lot of mystery about them and with the backrooms in the series it's still very mysterious I mean heck, we probably know more about Aysnc then what we know about the backrooms itself.
And I kinda like the frame of a grounded research institute from our reality trying to explore somewhere else that doesn't follow those rules being ungrounded and surreal and is shown and told by kane in the series what he's trying to do. But that's my opinion and that's your opinion our opinion still matters the same anyways, at the end of the day it's just yellow rooms that are intriguing.

@@ADastra1939 I will say that I can understand where you are coming from. I personally don't see Async as an evil cooporation, but to state it quite bluntly: With Kane's representation of the company and the threshold etc. To me it just feels partly like a Stargate SG-1 rip-off with the difference that they aren't on the search for alien tech.

In my opinion when it comes to Comedic Backrooms content there are 3 ways it can go.
There is the rare kind that balances a little bit of comedy with a good style of eeriness and makes enjoyable content. The only example to this is Return to Render.
There is the way too common one where it doesn't take anything serious and has the lowest form of comedy and are flat out weird. Example being Backrooms kids' lore and those Weird AI voice shorts.
And in my opinion the worst out of the bunch, the kind that tries to balance comedy and eeriness but fails miserably at it since it isn't scary and has terrible comedy. and the best example to this is VoidArmorrr. I mean a video of his is literally called "Obunga in the Backrooms"
oh yeah and you can't hear the voice actors at all.
