    I think the Japanese Tele beats not only the mex Tele but American teles for build quality and value. Especially on the used market. I own and love Japanese fenders so I’m bias but whatever. Also anybody who uses owner of a lonely heart in a demo video is a cool cat in my books

    Thanks Boss, I too prefer the MiM one but I guess it's a matter of taste to suite the individual.
    I have a MiM '69 Thinline reissue and it has the best factory fitted neck pick up I've ever heard in a Telecaster, whereas my MiJ 90's Custom I had to change the neck pickup for a Tonerider which blows it's factory fitted one out of the game.
    For me the best Telecaster in the history of guitars is the Telecaster Elite, not the new ones with the same name I refer to the model made 1983 to 1985 (I have two, a rosewood and a maple fretboard) it comes with two factory fitted active mini humbuckers, 2 volume and 2 tone dials with TBX control.
    Beautifully crafted in the Fullerton factory (now the Custom Shop), a really versatile guitar that suites any kind of music.

    I'm conflicted, both are great guitars. I lean twards the mij tele, but i think the mim may be better suited for jazz. I think the main difference is the noisless pickups vs true single coil. I personally own a mim strat with vintage noisless n3 pickups and Clapton mid boost circuit. I loved it a cople years ago, but now i prefer the straight single coil tone. I guess tastes change, but, I'm sure as soon as i sell it, I'd want another just like it.lol the grass always seems greener on the other side.

    • @EricBlackmonGuitar
      @EricBlackmonGuitar  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Remley! I wanted to see what viewers thought before I gave my preference. I like both guitars, but the noiseless pickups in the MIM Tele are not as fat as the MIJ, which I thought would be the other way around. The MIJ is amazing for mellow blues and jazz and is more twangy in the bridge position than the MIM. The neck on the MIJ keeps me coming back to it. Long story short, both are cool but I play the MIJ 3X as much as the MIM. Nuff said! Thanks for watching! More comp videos on my channel! ruclips.net/p/PLHdKL0zeGNk6ImUxXrn0PbrvFV0eWr87u

      Hi A! I am not big on changing out pickups on a guitar unless I don't like the sound, or the pickups are cheap. Both these sound great, so I will leave them alone. Really great guitars Man! The MIM sounds a little bit smoother and the MIJ seems a bit “chimey-er.” Guessing it’s just the electronics/bridge? The truss rod access is the real pain on the MIJ, but how often do you really need to check/adjust it under normal use... once or twice a year? Plus I’ve seen your video on the “garage” Tele...hard to beat that price hahaha!

    • @ericblackmonmusicbass9175

      I just paid to have the neck adjusted before I produced this video. The only problem is that I had to pay, because I could not do it myself. I have to tell you that I play the MIJ 3 times as much as the MIM. I favor it's sound and the feel of the slim neck is awesome! Thanks for watching Craig!

    • @EricBlackmonGuitar
      @EricBlackmonGuitar  6 лет назад +1

      Oh yeah! You only need to adjust a guitar neck if you change the gauge of the strings or if the neck get's a little out of whack over time(usually once every couple of years).

  • @wimdewild9345

    Well,..I own a Japanese Telecaster copy by Tokai..w/EMG Telecaster full set pick ups...+ an individual string adjustable type bridge.
    It’s sweet!...got it in ‘81 bought in Japan. It’s kept me in love with the guitar style for centuries!
    So,..I have two..the other one is a thinner Telecaster body style with Dimarsio “Cruiser” Tele pick ups and similar bridge. Both Teles feature fine wood because it was abundant back then so tone is great as well as a real Fender.
    To each his or her own huh?..👍🏽🎶🎸

      @@kevintraynor4508 I think that depending on the Year model,..& type of materials used,..+ factor in the quality of the selected Pick Ups for the build,..the MIJs can get up there in price over the MIMs but it boils down to which appeals to the listeners & players! (Tone & Feel requirement) IMO,..the MIMs just don’t sound as “Crispy or Chunky” as the MIJs can be...not to mention the build quality..🤔Like I commented b4,..to each,.. his or her own huh!✨🎶🎸🤘🏾🤨

    removing the neck to adjudt truss rod on the mij must be a bit of a pain!

      It is! That is why I pay a pro to do it. Of course I have only had to have it adjusted only once since 1995, so it is not so bad! Thanks so much for watching! MORE from EricBlackmonMusic! ruclips.net/p/PLHdKL0zeGNk6sM_RApksb8cpgxVWxklqJ

      You don't have to, you can take the pickguard off and use a slanted flathead screwdriver to adjust it. Not hard at all.

      You don't have to do this on a MIJ "Kotzen telecaster".

      The though body strings don't change the sound much, but it changes the way the strings feel because they are longer! Thanks for watching my friend! More from EricBlackmonGuitar ruclips.net/user/EricBlackmonGuitarvideos
