Amazing review, thank you! For anybody struggling removing the old spring, just keep pulling the armrest toward you and it’ll come off, with the spring attached. Took me under 15 mins and I’m hopeless when it comes to DIY!
Pretty sure nobody ever went from a leather (easy to wipe off) to an Alcantara (Sweat, and matted down) arm rest, just because they were tired of the leather being dirty. The Alcantara one will probably need way more maintenance. Sonax Alcantara cleaner is amazing for that.
Informative vid but wow it took way longer than you made it look. The back panel was a real arse and then the pins wouldn’t budge without serious leverage. The spring wouldn’t lift out either so what I ended up doing was just rotating the armrest itself back until it released. I slapped my forehead when I realized that would work. It goes great with my 50 Jahre interior though.
Love your vids. I have a F36 420d gran coupe. Anymore videos on this car? Watched your vid on how to change oil and filter. Helped greatly. Cheers dude
My ‘23 x3 armrest rattles from the hinges in rear of armrest. Wonder what it is. This video will help with taking armrest apart. What to do to fix creak is beyond me after taking the rear passenger armrest panel off.
Thanks for the vid, is it required to use the kit that comes with the new armrest? Just wondering if the old parts will work is all. Edit: yes the old parts work. Took about 30 mins only because I didn't have any tools except a really old crappy screwdriver all the rest I left at my vacay home 😂😂😂
Be very careful when putting the spring back in. It takes a lot of force and the clip that held the spring broke on my MP armrest, quick way to burn $400.
Fantastic video. I can’t believe that it only took me 10 minutes. I thought it would be more difficult.

The most beautiful BMW arm rest ever created. Good for +10 HP.
Need install the 50th Anniversary Classic ///M Roundels.
Any chance you have a video for the alcantara knee pad install?
Hey Brian. Big fan of your work. When I am able to get an M3 you’ll be the only person to touch my car. Great woork. Keep it up bro 🎉
Thanks for the tutorial i can confirm that u can reuse the old parts and no need for the kit. all parts are the same.
Solid! Didn't know there was an M-Performance armrest. Ordered!

Great, how much is that armrest?
The inner pins absolutely would NOT move for me. Had to get creative with a flathead and a poke tool. 😅
Thinking about doing an msport front end conversion on my f30 only things that’s been holding me back is college 😭

Looks like that should have been the way it came.
Simple but affective mod. 👌

Can't relate my Armrest is never dirty and it's leather, I just wanna buy it because I have Alcantara seats
I've just literally purchased an alcantara armrest for my F30, what are the odds😂
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏻, Much better!
Uh G42 Kies
It’s a pain in the ass getting those pins out. A flat head worked best for me
he makes it look so easy.. i spent like 30 mins hammering those pins out
Great video. 👍
