  • It's 1772. Mrs Eleanor Coade stands up to Horace Walpole over the cost of a Gothick gateway for Strawberry Hill House, as architect William Chambers provides an eye witness account of the Coade manufactory in Lambeth. A lively case study from the Georgian Period from Coade expert Caroline Stanford.

Thank you Caroline, for such an, almost breath holding account. Mrs Coades superior practices and detailed ledgers enabled this particular interaction to be left in little doubt, as to the sort of business prowess, which, is the legacy that was left.
