Good afternoon. Thank you for the video. I have the same deck. Recently, the engine began to start only after spinning up manually. Please tell me how to fix this. Thank you. I wrote through a translator.
.....Hello. For those who are interested, I am writing an addition. Today is July 22nd. I didn’t turn to the experts, but repaired it myself. After looking at other repair channels, I realized that I had a problem with the engine. Thanks to this video, I disassembled the engine, cleaned it of carbon deposits, and lubricated the bushings. The wear on the motor contacts is deep. But I think it will last for a long time. I often don't listen to him. Then I lubricated the bushings on the flywheel axle. And my device works!

This reminds of my first deck, a pioneer CTF-500 purchased new in '79. Had that for a year then I bought a technics RSM 45, full logic control, nice deck. Unfortunately, a flood took it out last year 😪. Great work as usual Trevor 👍

Geez! The Pioneer CT-F950 mechanism is a dream to take apart compared to this JVC mechanism. Nice work man!

Coming up in a few weeks is a NAD 6155 deck repair, that thing was a nightmare to fix. Sometimes you get easy ones and other times they are brutal

    Your an Amazing tech!!!!!

I guess new plastic wheels could be 3D-printed if you could get the design software. The playback head certainly needed replacing. You did a great job dismantling and cleaning the rubber wheels

    • @TrevorsBench

It would be worth a try. 3D printed or UV resin could be printed although I fear they might not have the strength or long life.
I think the best route would be to machine brass on a mini lathe, those parts would last forever

@@TrevorsBench It's amazing what can be done with 3D printing nowadays. I do agree that the brass alternative would be superb.

Nice job Trevor. I work at restoring old cassette decks too and I have a KD-10 to get to at some point. I had not heard of "boiling" belts before. How hot was your microwave and how long did you leave the belt in there? Also, what was the brand and type of the grease in the syringe?

I like that trick of cleaning the flywheel, should try it on my luxman deck

By the way with todays 3D printing tech I was wondering if you couldn't actually make new parts, if you really wanted to.

@@1873Winchester As far as i know, if you don't have a very high end 3d printer, and even there to some extend, things you print with them arent very accurate or stress proof. You might print 20 copies and one might fit, kinda. It's often better to try to fix what you have. You could also try to source the replacement part making out to guys who print things for you on their professional machines, or even injection mold replicate them, but that could be costy and you have to give the right dimensions of the broken part, or it might not fit again. Sadly its not as easy as "just 3d print it" :/

Baking soda and crazy glue. Cures instantly. Sand of file it.

I would certainly try to weld that cracked plastic with either epoxy or something like chloroform to melt the plastic a bit to bond it.

Hey Trevor. Like your work. What should we look for if the deck eats the tape? Tried cleaning the head and rollers.

    • @TrevorsBench
      @TrevorsBench  2 года назад +1

Without a tape, put it into play mode and check if the take up spindle is turning and has good torque. A slipping belt or tire may be the cause

I have the JVC KD-10, and I boiled the belt and got it back on but after reassembling the whole unit now my levels are peaking and I’m getting some kind of helicopter noise. I think it’s related to the record feature, can you help?

I noticed that there is no ac primary line fuse for over current protection so i put one in is that a good idea

Something is triggering the auto stop.
The take-up reel needs to spin freely. If it stops spinning it will trigger the auto stop
