My dad had one of those i was never into bikes until I stumbled upon his frame in my grandparents shed I hunted down all of the rest of the parts and he helped me fix it up I rode it around a few years but grew out of it and its now in pieces again in my garage
Had an 83 Californian. Went of to Germany to serve overseas and couldn't take it with me. Came back to find out my parents threw it out thinking I didn't want it anymore. Talk about angry. Parents didnt understand that one day it would be a holy grail of a bike...
Unfortunately that's what happens. I had a Mongoose Motomag. I did not like the mag wheels so I got a hammer and broke out the webbing. At the time it wasn't worth what it is today. I also had a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass. I got rid of it cheap. Right after that prices went through the roof. It's all hindsight. Thanks for the memories.
@@alloutbikes At least I feel better that I'm not the only one who has had thrown/sold away things. I had, my brother as well a 93 GT Interceptor. Mine was yellow his was chrome, a 94 Haro Group 1 and a 95 GT Pro freestyle tour all thrown away because my family thought I did want it. I also sold my first car in 2006 a 1971 Chevelle Malibu. Sure do wish I can turn back time.
I had that same 1 I used to live next door to the Detroit Police Department and they gave me one just like that with a motorcycle fairing from a police motorcycle welded on the front with working lights every kid my neighborhood was jealous
Hi Jason, are those handlebars 10" rise? Great build, by the way. Gorgeous bike, the stuff of dreams. Thank your brother for sending me to your channel.
@@alloutbikes Thanks for the reply, I think you may be right. I am gonna try and source some 9s or maybe 10s, just to save my bad back :-) Thankss again (y)
Nice but few things I would have done differently. 1st I would have put orange tires to match the orange hand grips same seat but in orange as well. 2. I wouldn't use mags they are nice but it make the bike ride slow so instead I would put 40 spokes. 3. Same peddles but in orange instead.
1985 should have a riveted on head tube badge instead of a decal. Anyway, mine does, bought new in 85 for my birthday, it's hanging behind me on the wall still.
@@alloutbikes well ill be..nice to meet you Jason I'm sorry for my mistake if there was one. And It did cross my mind cause of the difference in character. I've been a OG bmx guy since the Xmas of 1983 when I got the badest bike of that year. GT PRO SERIES and still have it. Probably cause I never left it outside to get stolen. My father would have kicked my ass if so. I feel like that's why skateboarding seemed to take off there in the later part of the 80's..less of and investment for the parents 🤔
I know. I work from 9am to after midnight most days because we are so busy. When I can't work anymore I look around and I'm so tired I have to go home. About the only way I figure I can clean up is if business slows down or if I stop making videos. But thanks for your input. I know it's bad.
@@alloutbikes Haha, thanks for your reply. I just say that because I think you vid quality would be better if the background wasn't so busy...it's a little distracting. Anyway, I found your vids because I'm currently working on a 1983 Californian that I recently pulled out of the trash. 100% complete...even has the original reflectors and kick-stand! It's pretty weathered though...was sitting in an outdoor shed for decades. Doing my best to get it back to its glory. Keep up the good work! -Dan
But you a right. What I need is a nice RUclips corner that stays clean all the time. Ahhhhhh to dream. I also just need to have a clean shop so that I can have a clean shop. It looks better. Thanks for watching. Good luck on your build.
the proof in how nice the owner of all out bikes is,....is the fact he took the clean up the shop comment in stride,...... let me tell anyone reading this, that this dude is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet and one of the most knowledgeable, he did some work on an old bike for me and he is articulate and does incredible work and is super honest .... I wish he was an auto mechanic too, I would take everything I had to him.
Brought back so many memories, from the mid 70's, flashbacks of doing tricks on my BMX. Thanks for the share.
Thank you.👍
Like the 80s bmx stuff. Would like to build one and live out my 80s bike dreams.

You must have gotten me on a good day. Thanks!
Late 70's early 80's BMX stuff us so cool. I remember it when it was all new. I was racing BMX back then.

Put that thing back together! (Before you misplace a part or twelve). Thanks!
The Californian I love it , the ending is awesome worth the wait ! Think the black grips we put on look a little better than the burnt orange.
Hard not to love these old polished frame Mongooses, I put MANY miles on an 80s ATB in the day.

Love the understated color choices !
It turned out very well. Thanks!
Chrome will always shine, better than most jobs ...Chrome will always take you home....
Gotta love chome.
My first bike as a kid. Had Pro Class two rims though.
Thanks for sharing.👍
🤟
Thanks!👍
Nice bike...🙂
Yes it is. It used to be mine. I gave it to a buddy and he cleaned it up. I have one more. I'm supposed to have 2 more but I can't find it.
Killer build.
Yes it is. I may have to build one for myself.
Great work as always Jason. :)

I think it was a 9" rise.

They are SE power bars with 9 inch rise , cut down to 28 inches
@@missyjohnson6639 They're great! Is this your bike in for the build?
@@meatpietaster7768 yes hanging on the wall now.
im diggin that great job

where can i get that chainring and spider for my 85 cali ?
I'm pretty sure he bought it from Ebay.

All it’s missing is the mongoose pro class rims

Yes, but the replacement decals don't come with a head badge and they ripped the old head badge off. I have the head badge. It's ruined.
@@alloutbikes That makes sense. Mine actually came off and I had to re-attach with rivets. Coolest head badge in the history of BMX in my opinion.
Where can I get this mongoose decals for my 85 ?
Ebay. Sorry I did not see your message till now. Thanks, Jason
That was a joke. I forgot all about wrapping it up like that. Lol
OK.

Not for sale
Thank you,
That was his. Thanks!
When I click this video had know idea 💡 🤔 the "for testing purposes only guy" did pedal bikes too
He doesn't. I'm his brother Jason. It's nice to meet you.
