I set out to create a better cargo carrier for use in the backcountry. It solves my two main complaints with typical hitch carriers: ground clearance and blocking the tailgate. #backcountrycamping #overland #fabrication

I was literally trying to look for something like this on Amazon that has a hitch that swivels out to the side for easy trunk access…nothing to be found ..awesome design !

Very nice set up! Does the tailgate fully open with the rack installed but empty? Looks like its maybe 1.5" too tall

No, the rack has to be open for the tailgate to clear. As easy as it is to open, not a big deal.

You'll have to build your own! Because the hitch to tailgate heights can vary so much between vehicles, a "universal" model wouldn't have the same benefit.
